For us what started out as a need very quickly began

to fi ll the cup that held our passion, one of breeding

and producing beautiful cattle, not only for us but for

everyone to benefi t from. Keeping in mind that these

beautiful cattle have a job to do, we educated ourselves

on the important points that make them produce those

important traits. It is with pride we offer to you today

for your selection thirteen years (in a stud situation) of

producing cattle that will pass on some of those traits.

BLUE DOG HISTORY:BLUE DOG SIMMENTALS was established out of a need in 2005 when we

weren’t able to fi nd the type of sires we required to make our breeding

and fattening enterprise a more viable business. We had spent 12 years

going backwards: with calving problems, temperament problems, cows

and heifers not going in calf, and failing to produce a weaner. So, with an

expert in tow who had the knowledge we began the costly search for the

right kind of females and the right sire. We advertised over three states

and offered a cash incentive for the right kind of sire.

Knowing that it is all female orientated, we decided to breed our own

females and our own sires as it was nearly impossible to fi nd the right

type. This led to the exciting start of Blue Dog Simmentals. To this day

the excitement we have in being able to produce and sell the right

product to other like-minded, commercial breeders is still there.

In the short time since Blue Dog Simmentals has been established we

have achieved many milestones, but our vision is, and will always be

to do for other commercial breeders what our very own Blue Dog bred

sires have done for us in our 800 head commercial operation.

OUR BREEDING OBJECTIVES:

Maternal, Fertile, Short Gestation, Small Birth Calves, Serving Capacity,

Structural Correctness, Temperament, Longevity, Tender, Palatable.

MATERNAL:

To reproduce without problems to rear similar

or better offspring showing trait consistency.

FERTILE:

Falling pregnant in fi rst two cycles. High % calving consistency.

SHORT GESTATION:

Less days for cow to carry calf, increases number of calves in a cow’s life.

SMALL BIRTH CALVES:

Quick calving with less stress on mother or calf.

SERVING CAPACITY:

Bulls having the capacity to produce a large number of calves in a short

time.

STRUCTURAL CORRECTNESS:

High yield of saleable meat. No Calving problems.

Ability to cover large distances in Australian conditions.

TEMPERAMENT:

Not of nervous disposition. Calm, Docile. A big plus in crossbreeding.

LONGEVITY:

Cows still producing at thirteen years plus.

Not having two or three calves and then shutting the shop.

TENDER, PALATABLE:

A pleasure to eat, tender tasty excellent healthy eating.

Health:All sale bulls have been vaccinated with – 7 in 1, Pestigard, Vibriovax, 3 day& 3-day booster, Tick fever X two vaccinations. Heifer Vaccinations; 7 in 1,Pestigard, Tick Fever 1 vaccination Blue Dog herd is JBAS 7 and in a cattleTick Free area. Interstate movement of cattle is guaranteed.

Scanning:All sale bulls have been scanned prior to the sale for EMA and IMF and Rib& Rump Fat.

Semen test:All sale bulls have been semen tested and Morphology tested.

BREEDING WARRANTYGuarantees of Fertility(a) BULLS. Save and except for Calves at foot, all Bulls are guaranteed

breeders and to so prove within six months of the date of the Sale or by reaching the age of 24 months whichever date shall be later.

(b) FEMALES. Save and except for female Calves at foot, all females areguaranteed to be in Calf or go into Calf within 6 months of the dateof Sale or by the age of 30 months whichever date shaII be later. Apositive pregnancy test certifi ed by a qualifi ed Veterinary Surgeonshall be suffi cient evidence that the animal is in calf.

(c) Claims under Clauses (a) and (b) guarantees of fertility must be madeto the Vendor within 6 months from the date of Sale and prior to theanimal entering a quarantine area other than on the Vendor’s property.i. All Claims must be accompanied by a Veterinary Certifi cate which

must clearly identify the basis of the claim.ii. Infertility resulting from injury or disease occurring after the sale of

the animal will not be covered by this guarantee.iii. The Vendor retains the right to have the animal placed on a

property nominated by him or returned to his own property for further assessment of fertility for a period not exceeding 6 months.In the event of the animal being proven fertile within the period,the costs incurred shall be borne by the Purchaser. In the eventof the animal not being proven fertile within the period the costsincurred shall be borne by the Vendor.

(d) LIABILITY OF A VENDOR. Except for costs defi ned elsewhere in theConditions of Sale, the liability of a Vendor in respect of claims relatingto fertility shall not exceed the purchase price of the animal/s or provide mutually agreed upon replacement animals.

(e) REFUNDS. In the event of a claim being substantiated and the purchaseprice being refunded, the animal/s shall automatically becomethe property of the Vendor and be returned to him or disposed of according to his instructions at his expense.

(f) This guarantee is voided automatically if:-i. The animal is returned to the Vendor:

a) In poor physical condition or with any injury as determined inthe sole discretion of the vendor acting reasonably; or

b) Test carried out on behalf of the Vendor within 14 days of return prove positive to any diseases which may affect theanimals fertility or ability to breed naturally; or

ii. The Purchaser admits that it has, or the vendor forms the viewacting reasonably that the purchaser has collected and storedsemen from a bull or embryos from a female.

(g) In the event of a dispute as to whether a Lot is a Breeder, such disputeshall be resolved by the Vendor and the Purchaser and the Auctioneer,while he will use his best endeavours to assist, shall have no liability or responsibility in that regard. In the event that a Lot is alleged or provednot to be a Breeder, the Purchaser shall nevertheless be obliged to paythe Auctioneer the full price and any other moneys or interest payableby the Purchaser in accordance with these Terms and Conditions.
