What better way is there to cele-brate summer than to have a cook-out, a picnic, or family potluck?And what about a night on thetown or a day at the fair?
We took a survey recently andfound the number one place ourreaders enjoy going is “out to eat”Regardless of the budget or sched-ule, we all like to dine out once inawhile. The survey also revealed “dining out” as thenumber one thing to do. So if you can combine anoth-er activity with a special food event, then that’s a bigbonus!
Some of my favorite memories are during a mealwith family or friends. For instance a few years ago,my husband andI took two of our grandchildren to afancy seafood restaurant in Orlando, Fla. It was knownfor serving the lobster caught by staff of the TimeBandit featured on the television show, “DeadliestCatch” What a luxery. We got to watch the oldest eat asalmon patty for the first time ever and she liked it.The other granddaughter, however, insisted on eatingchicken. The chef obliged. The desert of chocolate cakewas big enough to serve all four of us.
So this issue is the first of many to come addressingfun places to go (to enjoy eating,) things to do (whilewe enjoy eating) and people to see (to help us enjoyeating.
Food, food, and more food. We can atttend a culi-nary class to learn the chefs’ secrets. See page 8. Or wecan go to one of the largest food shows in the countryand meet celebrities from the Food Channel. See page11. How about a food festival? See page 14. Whateveryour choice, be sure to take time to enjoy food, yourfamily and friends.

The Fair is scheduled Aug. 11-16,2014 and promises to be one of thebest yet. Please mark your calen-dars and remember to get yourtickets early and plan to attend.

Country artist Tyler Farr will
take the grandstand stage this year on Monday,August 11. Known for his most recent hit “Whiskeyin my Water,” his “Redneck Crazy” video was nom-inated for the 2014 CMT Breakthrough Video of theYear for the CMT Music Awards.
“I wanted to make an album you could take any-where,” says Tyler Farr of his Columbia Nashvilledebut, “and I can take this one to a barn party on aback road and have everybody rock out, and at thesame time kids can enjoy it and dance to it.”
Displaying a voice honed by years of classicaltraining, the project ranges from power ballads toedgy tracks influenced by Tyler’s relationship withhis good friends, country rapper Colt Ford and LeeBrice.
Tickets are now on sale for the 7:30 p.m. concert.General admission tickets are $12 while Box seats are$18 and the track is $20.

The Oak Ridge Boys were recently honored during the Wendy Williams Show witha 41 Million Album Sales Award. The awards just keep on coming in for the quartet,marking their 41st Anniversary with a musical legacy that still stands strong.
"It is hard to imagine that we have sold 41 million albums and that doesn't evencount the successful Gospel music days," said tenor vocalist Joe Bonsall. "It is hum-bling to know that the music we have created together has been so well received overall these years. We are very blessed but the pressure is on... 41 million albums in 41years means we have to sell a million this year to make it 42/42 next year!!!"
Their newest album, “Boys Night Out” is available in stores now. After a five-decadecareer topping the country, gospel, and pop charts on regular occasions, and sellingsome 41 million albums, it's a bit surprising to realize that 2014's Boys Night Out isthe first-ever live album from the Oak Ridge Boys. Featuring the group's big hits"Bobbie Sue," "You’re the One," "American Made," "Elvira," and more, the album wasdrawn from several concerts the Boys did in 2013, and shows that they're singing andperforming as well as ever.

The Outlaws’ mix of country androck elements displays the vocal har-mony influences of groups likeBuffalo Springfield, the Byrds, andPoco.
