We endeavour to keep you all informed, well in advance of what’s happening

gentle reminder about happenings and events, we will also use our app as a

reminder tool. Sometimes this could be 24 hours beforehand. Please also

check our website calendar.

Please note the days that support your child’s faith journey and help them to

attend celebrations that are not necessarily during school hours.

Mass at St John Vianney is at 9am every Sunday.

Dear Whanau,

Welcome back to school for an action

packed Term 3! We are going to be

showing Aroha in Action through ART

this term. Our Science Rotations in

term 2 were hugely successful with

both kaiako and ākonga experiencing

different learning experiences in

different hubs, so we are going to

embed this practice this term on

Marvellous Mondays and Terrific

Tuesdays - all with an Arts focus.

In our New Zealand Curriculum; The

Arts curriculum has three themes

within it (Drama, Music – Sound Arts

and Visual Arts), and our staff have

chosen to cover Visual Arts this year.

Through this we will be (1)

Understanding the Arts in Context, (2)

Developing practical knowledge, (3)

Developing ideas and (4) Communicating

and Interpreting.

All teachers will once again be teaching

and learning with every child in the

school, which is one of the wonderful

advantages to the way we can use our

Innovative Learning Environment at

Monte Cecilia Catholic School.

In the last newsletter I spoke about

what it is to be a ‘Monte Person’. This in

detail was about our expectations as a

faith based school, following our vision,

mission and charism ideals and values. It

was about the goals that we work

towards and strive for together in our

journey as a Monte community. Some

families are ‘Monte people’ for just six

years, and others for a lot longer as

multiple children go through our school.

Regardless of the time that is spent at

our school, we become a part of our

Monte Community and we need to work

together as one; striving to journey the

‘Monte Way’. As teachers, we are a part

of that journey with the children, doing

all we can as Monte People by providing

opportunities to learn, feel happy and

safe while at school. Our children as

‘Monte People’ have a job too; which is

to learn and take ownership of their

learning. They do this with enthusiasm

most days! Our recent Learning

conversations showed us how engaged in

their ‘jobs as learners’ they are. As

whanau we appreciate your support as

Monte People at home with home

learning, as well as with the many

opportunities you take to help out as

volunteers and participants in our

activities.

We are a great little school, blessed

with fantastic facilities and are right

next to our parish which is an invaluable

asset to our journey as a Catholic

community. Being a small school we do

rely on all our stakeholders to help out

in whichever way, big or small that they

can.

This term the PTA are hosting our

biggest fundraiser for the year;

Monte’s Mid Winter Quizmas.

How can YOU help as one of our Monte

People? Contributing to the whanau

group hampers, selling tickets to

colleagues or friends, getting your own

team together, spreading the word –

every little contribution is valuable to

our fundraiser and TRULY

APPRECIATED by us as a whole school.

Let’s ALL get behind this really

great fundraising event for our

school to have the best

resourcing for our tamariki and

their learning place.

God bless, Michele Mill
