From the Principal’s Desk The Wiangaree Wire Week 10 13/12/17 IMPORTANT DATES TERM 4 Week 10 Wednesday 13th Dec End of Year Excursion Friday 15th Dec Last Day for Students 2018 - School Resumes for students Tuesday 30 January. As the year draws to a close I would like to take this opportunity to thank you all for another wonderful year. We have worked and played hard this year and I am very proud of all of the student’s achievements and behaviour throughout the whole year. It is a credit to the staff, parents and community of Wiangaree for these wonderful accomplishments. This newsletter includes important information and dates so please take the time to read it carefully. Staff Changes Wiangaree staff are all such dedicated and wonderful staff members that go above and beyond what is expected of them. It is with sadness that I need to announce some changes to our staff for 2018. Unfortunately, our numbers are lower than anticipated and this impacts on our staffing allocation. We will have 20 students returning and this means we are not able to maintain all of our current staff. This year we will farewell Mrs Libby Cramp, Ms Camilla Warner and Miss April Keys. All staff members have made wonderful contributions to our school and I thank them for all for their work with us. I hope 2018 brings wonderful things for them all. Caroline Fisher’s personal leave will continue in 2018 and we look forward to welcoming her back to our school when she is able. Our school will still run two classes for majority of the week with Mrs Emily Crane teaching the Junior Class and I will be teaching the Senior Class. More details on the structure of the classes and the timetable will be released in the first newsletter next year. Important Dates Friday 15 th December 2018 Last day of school Monday 29 th January 2018 Staff return Tuesday 30 th January 2018 Students Year 1-6 return (Kindergarten will do their Best Start Assessment) ICAS Results Earlier in the year Chloe and William participated in the ICAS Assessments in a range of subject’s areas. Both students did a wonderful job. CONGRATULATIONS! William received a CREDIT in both Science and English- WELL DONE WILLIAM!!!!! Mural News Our wonderful mural is continuing to develop, and it is close to being finished. We have been very privileged to have Mr Michael Walker, a local Aboriginal elder, participate in the consultation and painting process. It was wonderful to hear his stories of our local area and to be guided by him in painting our mural. I would also like to acknowledge and thank the efforts of Alice and Julia for painting our mural each week. We really appreciate all your extra effort. Students are now designing a circle of the mural to be their personal contribution to the mural. I look forward to seeing the results.

Some fun Christmas crafts made by the WPS

students.
