Narrative and genre The wolf of Wall street is a crime drama/ dark comedy. It follows

corruption and crime through the concept of politicians and bankers.

This could be reflective of bankers and politicians today, there is always a suspicion that crime is involved.

The film is also based on a true story, Leonardo Di Caprio plays a real life motivational speaker and former investment banker. He was convicted of securities fraud and money laundering.

Upon seeing the film, it’s full of Scorsese's typical conventions, for example continuous shots with brutal violence.
