“HOPE IS THE ANCHOR” Hebrews 6:17-19
From the Principal’s Pen…
Hello Everyone! It’s Friday and the school has been strangely quiet this week. I mean quiet as compared to the noise when school is in session. There has been no chatter from the children, no lockers opening and closing, and no music being practiced. Where, oh where are the giggles and laughter? There has been noise from the men working. Their equipment makes noise and they don’t work in silence. In fact, some men talk more than ladies do! I took some days away from ILS this week. It was wonderful to spend time with my friends and family. I came in on Thursday and sorted through the mail. It was also time to start working on two picture boards to take to the Home Show. Mrs. Ryskowski helped me go through some photographs and today Miss Miller will help me put things to-gether. Once again I am amazed at all of the things that are done here. The children reach out to our neighbors at the St. Vincent de Paul Society, Zion Food bank, our Veterans, and the men and woman of our Fire and Police depart-ments. They reach out farther by work-ing with the Orphan Grain Train and the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. I cannot forget Music and Aca-demics. All three high schools have told us that our students are excellently pre-pared. Thank you to our staff of won-derful teachers. I know how hard you work and how much you love your stu-dents. I see this every day when I am here. I also know that I have said that

Just a reminder that saving Box Tops helps
our church and school. The first $500.00 goes to PTO to fund things like school assemblies, field trips and the holiday fair for the kids. Be-yond the $500.00 the church gets to add to our budget, which also needs help. Box Tops are easily found on many cereals, soups, cakes, and even baby carrots!
ILS CONTEST: A February submission is coming up so another
contest is running. The class that brings in the most Box Tops by February 15th will win free Friday ice cream for 2 weeks. At this point 5th grade is WAY in the
lead with 1st grade being in 2nd place. Bring Box Tops to Mrs. Beaudoin in a baggie marked with the grade. Thank you for your help! Linda Beaudoin

PINEWOOD DERBY
SATURDAY, JANUARY 23RD
9:00 AM
ILS GYMNASIUM On Saturday, January 23, 2016 the Cub Scouts of Pack
21 braved the snow to com-
pete in their annual Pinewood
derby. There were a lot of
cool designs this year and
all cars made it down the
track (with the help of gravity
of course). The results for the
Tigers (first graders) are 3rd
Place-Anthony Keddy, 2nd
Place-Ethan Dubois, and First
Place-Chadd Wentland, For
the Wolves (2nd Graders),
Nicholas Dunn-Milkowski
finished 3rd, Cole Krueger finished 2nd, and Rocky Bo-
nin was the Champion. For the Webelos (4th and 5th
graders), DJ Cyr took 3rd, Logan Jackson took 2nd, and
Adam Krueger was the Champion. For the all Pack Race,
although Cubmaster Krueger's Canoe looked real fast, all
of the age group winners left him looking for his paddles.
Chadd Wentland was the fastest car followed by Rocky
Bonin and Adam Krueger. Thomas Madigan raced in his
last Pinewood derby as a Cub Scout and came away with
the Most Creative award.
The next Pack event will be a Gym sleepover in Febru-
ary.

Scouts, please contact Jason Krueger at:

One of the sweetest gifts of being a Christian—as well as one of the most important responsibilities, is to give
courage—to, literally, “in”-courage others through our words, our prayers, and our
support—it is an integral part of our calling as Christians.

TUITION ASSISTANCE —
It is our goal at Immanuel, that no child should be declined a Christ-centered ed-ucation because of finances. For over 117 years, our school has made Chris-tian Education a centerpiece of it’s minis-try. In order to make this possible, it is vital that we have resources available for tuition assistance. If you would like to contribute to this fund, you can make a donation by simply putting your gift in an envelope clearly marked for Tuition As-sistance. Like any other donation to Im-manuel, this gift is tax-deductible.
Thank you!

HARVEST PACK EVENT SATURDAY, MARCH 5, 2016
Immanuel Lutheran Church is having a food packaging event for Harvest
Pack/Kids Against Hunger. We have raised the funds to purchase food supplies
and supplements to package meals to send to starving families in Haiti. Now we
need volunteers to package the meals. The event will be held in the gymnasium at
Immanuel Lutheran Church, 154 Meadow Street, Bristol.
The packaging is easy, just measuring, weighing and sealing the bags. Please
volunteer with family or friends. You can sign up for session I from 9:30 – 11:30
and/or session II from 12:00 – 2:30. We need 8 – 9 volunteers for each table. At
some point, you will be able to sample the food we are sending. Each bag contains
enough meals to sustain 6 people for a day.
If you would like to join the fun or might need service hours, consider help-
ing us on March 5th. Please pre register by calling Pat Wollenberg at 860-584-
0587 or the church/school office at 860-583-5631 to sign up for a spot.
