ITINERARYDay 7 Colca / PunoA new day for visual delights. Visit to Cruz del Cóndor to see the Colca Valley (the second deepest canyon in the world, more than 4 kilometres at its deepest part) and the juge and majestic condor flying a few metres away. You will visit the villages of Pinchollo, Maca, Achoma, Yanque and the vantage points at Antahuilque and Choquetico, on your return to Chivay. Day 8 Uros & Taquile Islands– Lake TiticacaBreakfast at the hotel. You will be picked up from Puno’s lake port and transferred to the floating islands of the Uros. Uros are an ancestral society that inhabits a series of artificial islands built with totora, a reef that grows in the lake. The islands are built by weaving totoras in the places where they grow the thickest and form a natural layer. They build their totora houses over it and cook in the open air to prevent possible fires. After a one and a half-hour tour, you will continue your trip to the Taquile Island. Unlike other islands, inhabited by Aymara-speaking people in the lake, its residents speak Quechua. It was part of the Inca Empire and vestiges of said culture can be noted in their buildings. Nevertheless, when the Spaniards arrived, they forced its residents to get rid of their typical clothes and forced them to wear traditional farmers’ clothes. They will give you a brief presentation about the island and you can tour it until lunch time, when you will descend the 550 steps to the main pier to return to Puno City. Meals: Breakfast & Lunch

Day 9 Puno / CuscoBreakfast at the hotel. The ride to Cuzco is set to have a few interesting stops on route. Visit the town of Pucara and the Litico Pucara Museum. Pucara was the first urban settlemnet on the altiplano, a civilization that populated the area between 100 and 300 b.C. After a brief break at La Raya, the highest pass on our way to Cuzco (at 4313 masl), the bus stops at Sicuani where lunch is enjoyed. We then head on to Raqchi an Inca site built in honor of Wiracocha, a powerful Andean God. The rectangular construction boasted thatched rooftops 20 meters above the ground, which are thought to be the highest in the New World. Moments later we visit the Church of Andahuaylillas, known as the "Sixtine Chapel of the Americas" due to the high qualitiy art pieces it shelters. The church was built during the XVI century atop Wari remains and today theboasts a beautifully restored Colonial organ. A short 40 kilometers drive gets us to Cuzco at the end of today's journey. ITINERARYDay 10 Cusco – Half Day City Tour and Nearby Ruins Breakfast ath the hotel. Free Morning1pm. You will start your tour visiting the Coricancha, also known as “The Temple of the Sun” (Quri Kancha ‘Golden Temple’), which was built by the Inca Pachacutec (1438 – 1572) and at the arrival of the Spaniards became the basis for the construction of the Santo Domingo Convent. Here, during the Inca empire reverence was surrendered to the sun (“Inti”), and there was a time when it was covered with gold. Then visit the Cathedral, the most imposing monument in the Plaza de Armas. Its construction began in 1560 and ended only in 1654. Almost a century of construction. For this purpose hundreds of stones were extracted and transported from Sacsayhuaman fortress under the command of the Ecclesiastical Council. You will continue your tour to the fortress of Sacsayhuaman, one of the most emblematic buildings of the Incas (located just minutes from town center) built by the Inca Pachacutec in the fifteenth century. This is a huge fortress built with large stones whose transportation remains still a mystery. Each June 24th, during the winter solstice, the feast of Inti Raymi is recreated here, where the sun is worshipped. Continue to Quenqo, located 4 kilometers from the city of Cusco. Quenqo is an archaeological complex of mainly religious use where it is believed agricultural rituals were performed. Finally get to know Puka Pucara, located 7 kilometers from the city of Cusco. Puka Pucara, which means “Red Fortress”, was an architectural complex of alleged military use with multiple spaces, plazas, baths, aqueducts, walls and towers, and it is believed the entourage of the Inca used it while he rested in Tambomachay. Return to the hotel.

Meals: Breakfast

Day 11 Cusco / Machu Picchu / CuscoBreakfast at the hotel On schedule pick up from your hotel and transfer to Poroy station or Ollanta Train Station (a.k.a Ollantaytambo).*From Poroy Station (located 20 minutes away from Cusco city), the train ride to Aguas Calientes lasts 3.5 hours. Ollantaytambo's train station is located close to the site where the old Inca hanging bridge crossed the Urubamba. Move along the tracks following the river's course into the jungle lowlands to Aguas Calientes a.k.a. Machu Picchu Pueblo (a 2-hour ride). This is the last stop before getting to the famous archaeological complex. Find crafts, books, restaurants and array of hotels in this buzzling town. The bus zig-zags up the steep side of the mountain for nearly 20 minutes. The prehispanic engineering marvel unveils itself gradually; this was the site Pachacutec Inca (1438-1572) chose as royal retreat and where his "malqui" or mummified remains were to be worshiped. Machu Picchu or "Old Mountain" is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the New Seven Wonders yet the traveler senses a beauty unmatched by these or any other title.
