April is Food for Fines Forgiveness Month

It’s the best time to reduce the fines on your library account! And by doing so, you can help out an individual or a family in need. Between April 1-30, every non-perishable food item donated will equal $1 removed from your library fine. Items must be undamaged and unexpired. Everything that is donated will be given to the House of Hope, which assists those in the community.

If you don’t have a fine but would still like to donate, your contribution will be very much appreciated! If you have questions, please call (520) 723-6030 or email [email protected]

Power Play — Adult Fiction By Danielle Steel

In Northern California, two successful CEOs are both indispensable to their growing companies’ futures. Both are brilliant at the power game. But the difference between them is huge. One is a man, the other a woman. In this riveting novel, Danielle Steel explores what that means as she takes readers into the rarefied world of those at the pinnacle of international business and reveals the irrevocable choices they make, what drives them, and how others perceive them. The heady drug of power impacts everything they do. ~ from publisher

The Auschwitz Escape — Adult Fiction (also available in audio format) By Joel Rosenberg

A terrible darkness has fallen upon Jacob Weisz’s beloved Germany. The Nazi re-gime, under the leadership of Adolf Hitler, has surged to power and now hold Ger-many by the throat. All non-Aryans—especially Jews like Jacob and his family—are treated like dogs. When tragedy strikes during one terrible night of violence, Jacob flees and joins re-bel forces working to undermine the regime. But after a raid goes horribly wrong,

Jacob finds himself in a living nightmare—trapped in a crowded, stinking car on the train to the Auschwitz death camp. ~from publisher

Jo Frosts’s Toddler Rules: Your Five Step Guide to Shaping Proper Behavior—Adult Non Fiction By Jo Frost

*Sleep: winning those nightly battles—going to bed and staying there *Food: what to cook, trying new things, and enjoying meal times *Play: sharing toys, defusing squabbles, developing social skills *Learning: listening, language, and development *Manners: teaching respect, showing examples, and positive praise

The key to achieving success with these Toddler Rules is Frost’s proven S.O.S. method: Step Back, Observe, Step In. Complete with troubleshooting tips for living tantrum-free, this welcome, hon-est, straightforward guide has all you need to help your children grow, thrive, and make family time even more precious. ~ from publisher Dark Invasion —Adult Non Fiction By Howard Blum

Dark Invasion is Howard Blum's gritty, high-energy true-life tale of German espio-nage and terror on American soil during World War I, and the NYPD Inspector who helped uncover the plot—-the basis for the film to be produced by and starring Bradley Cooper. When a "neutral" United States becomes a trading partner for the Allies early in World War I, the Germans implement a secret plan to strike back. A team of saboteurs (including an expert on germ warfare, a Harvard professor, and a brilliant, debonair spymaster) devise a series of "mysterious accidents" using explo-sives and biological weapons, to bring down vital targets such as ships, factories,

livestock, and even captains of industry like J.P. Morgan. New York Police Inspector Tom Tunney, head of the department's Bomb Squad, is assigned the difficult mission of stopping them. ~ from publisher

Your Life Calling: Reimagining the Rest of Your Life —Adult Non Fiction Audio By Jane Pauley

This is the awakening of a generation to the opportunities that lie ahead. Research has shown that people in their fifties are more vital now than they were only ten years ago. They’re saying, “I’m game, I’m up for it, I want to do more.” Jane Pauley, one of America’s most beloved and trusted broadcast journalists, gives voice to the opportunities of her generation—and the next one too—offering humor and insight about the journey forward. Your Life Calling is a fresh

look at ideas that have been simmering since boomers first entered midlife with a different per-spective on the future than any generation before: that there was more to come—and perhaps the best of all. ~ from the publisher

12 Years a Slave — DVD Featuring Chiwetel Ejiofor and Michael K. Williams

This film is based on the true story of Solomon Northup. It is 1841, and Northup (Chiwetel Ejiofor) an accomplished, free citizen of New York, is kidnapped and sold into slavery. Stripped of his identity and deprived of all dignity, Northup is ultimately purchased by ruthless plantation owner Edwin Epps and must find the strength within to survive. Filled with powerful performances, 12 Years a Slave is both an unflinching account of slavery in American history and a cele-bration of the indomitable power of hope. ~ product description

Maple— Children’s Fiction By Lori Nichols

When Maple is tiny, her parents plant a maple tree in her honor. She and her tree grow up together, and even though a tree doesn’t always make an ideal playmate, it doesn’t mind when Maple is in the mood to be loud—which is often. Then Maple becomes a big sister, and finds that babies have their loud days, too. Fortunately, Maple and her beloved tree know just what the baby needs. ~ from publisher
