What is ACCESS Distance Learning?

ACCESS Distance Learning (Alabama ConnectingClassrooms, Educators, and Students Statewide),an education initiative of the AlabamaDepartment of Education, provides opportunitiesand options for Alabama highschool students toengage in AdvancedPlacement (AP),electives, andother courses towhich they maynot otherwisehave access.

What are the advantages of ACCESSDistance Learning to teachers?

• Obtain training on 21st Century skills andtechnologies that can be taken back to localclassrooms

• Share knowledge and expertise with students andother teachers from across the state

• Facilitate collaboration among schools• Receive compensation (per student per half-credit)for work performed:- Web-based instruction (WBI), taught outsideregular school day: $150.00- Blended, not taught as part of regular class load:$150.00- VCI, taught as part of regular teachingassignment: $75.00- Blended, taught as part of regular teachingassignment: $75.00- WBI, taught by retired or otherwise inactiveteacher: $150.00- VCI, taught by retired or otherwise inactiveteacher: $150.00- VCI, delivered within teacher’s local schoolsystem: none
