SCREEN EXCELLENCE The World’s Most Advanced Acoustically Neutral Video Projection Screens Fixed • Retractable • Masking The New Reference for Visual and Audible Performance In today’s high definition digital world, a projection screen’s performance is just as important as well-recorded software, high definition players, or digital projectors. Most screen companies care only about half the experience - how it looks. Solid vinyl screens are often used in home theaters so speakers must be positioned above or below the screen, causing reduced realism and increased listener fatigue. When you close your eyes, the sound stage collapses and the soundtrack appears where the speakers are located. Perforated vinyl screens, used in both commercial and home theaters, allow speakers to be placed where the director and sound engineer intended them to be. However, serious audio problems occur, such as comb filtering and severe high frequency loss, because only partial sound gets through the holes in the vinyl, and it’s irreparably distorted. In home theaters, perforated vinyl screens create added problems when the holes interact with the pixel patterns of today’s digital projectors causing visual distortions called moiré. Resolution loss occurs, as well, due to pixels falling through the perforations. Screen Excellence believes that achieving a great picture is only half the cinematic experience. Our focus is creating the finest acoustically neutral, high-quality unity gain screen materials for delivery of the best audio and video experience possible. No compromises. Screen Excellence woven fabric screen materials are the most advanced on the market today, designed entirely from the ground up for today’s 1080 HD digital sources and Widescreen projection. They create a perfect matte white projection surface and allow for perfect positioning of the center, or all speakers, behind the screen - the only way to create the most realistic cinematic experience by actually matching the sound to action on the screen. Unique, Highly Differentiating Technology Screen Excellence Enlightor™ screen formulations (both patented and proprietary) provide picture quality and acoustic transparency that is superior to vinyl-perforated, or less exacting woven, screens: Enlightor 1 (EN1) - a PVC coated woven material in matte white, 0.95 gain for zero hot spotting and uniform field of white, with no discernible “twill” or weave pattern. EN1 is specifically designed for 1080 sources and projection with zero moiré at any size. No audio re-equalization is necessary, and there is no comb filtering or video resolution loss with any high definition sources or projectors. EN1 is intended for state-of-the-art home theater applications where viewers may sit close to the screen or for calibrators who need a perfectly flat focusing surface. Enlightor 2 (EN2) - a PVC coated woven material in matte white, 0.95 gain for zero hot spotting and uniform field of white. Ideal for 1080 resolution projection up to a base width of 96”. There is zero moiré down to 70” wide. No audio re-equalization is necessary, and no comb filtering or video resolution loss occurs with any high definition sources or projectors. The New Reference for Visual and Audible PerformanceIn today’s high definition digital world, a projection screen’s performance is just as important as well-recorded software, high definition players, or digital projectors.

Unique, Highly Differentiating TechnologyScreen Excellence Enlightor™ screen formulations (both patented and proprietary) provide picture quality and acoustic transparency that is superior to vinyl-perforated, or less exacting woven, screens:

Enlightor 1 (EN1) - a PVC coated woven material in matte white, 0.95 gain for zero hot spotting and uniform field of white, with no discernible “twill” or weave pattern.

Where are the speakers?

Behind the screen, of course, where

they belong!

Reference Fixed Frame (RFF)RFF screens are designed for dedicated screening rooms. The RFF screen frames are covered in rich velour and easily assembled. The extra rigid, proprietary frames contain a built-in track around the back for optional LED bias lighting, similar to that found on high end flat panel plasmas.

In addition, Screen Excellence fixed frame screens use a proprietary screen fabric gripping system called GripFix™ that makes inserting the fabric into the frame very easy. No more

snaps, lace & grommets, or plastic strips to hammer in.

Proprietary acoustically transparent black backing material is included in the cost of every screen. A black backing layer has two huge benefits - it adds perceived contrast ratio, and is essential to prevent projector light from bouncing off walls or objects behind the screen and back into the viewing area.

RFF screens are available in HD (16:9) and Widescreen (2.37:1) formats and standard viewing area widths starting at 70”. Custom ratios and widths are also possible.

Reference Electric (RES)Designed for multi-purpose rooms, RES screens provide the best solution for integrating video projection into a living space. Small and discrete when retracted, it provides a large projection surface when deployed. Housed in an ultra-slim, matte white casing, an RES screen can be mounted on a wall or ceiling with ease, and comes with adjustable black drop and acoustically transparent black backing.

Three-inch black borders provide accurate image framing and enhanced contrast perception. The bottom of the screen batten is completely hidden when stowed.

RES screens come with multiple control options and may be ordered in various aspect ratios and standard viewing area widths starting at 70”. Custom ratios and widths are also available.

True Aspect Masking™ (TAM)Much like in a commercial cinema, the Screen Excellence TAM screen is masked to eliminate annoying black or grey bars on the sides of the picture when Cinemascope movies are viewed. Black, acoustically transparent masks roll in from each side to mask to the picture’s true aspect ratio - anywhere from Widescreen (2.37:1) to NTSC (4:3). Dark masking also improves perceived picture contrast ratio, further enhancing your viewing.

TAM screens also blend better with your decor. The frame is the narrowest on the market today at 3.7” wide all the way around, compared with double or triple that for most other masking screens. Depth is an incredible 5.3”! More room for a bigger picture and more seating in the room.

TAM screens can be controlled in a variety of ways to suit your home theater control parameters. Screens are available in 2.37:1 aspect ratio and standard viewing area widths starting at 70”. TAM is the most elegant and design-friendly fixed masking screen on the market today.
