Since 1974 Embraco has produced
conventional compressors, from the first
model PW to new models like EM and EG.
The conventional compressor concept
is widely used in the market, based on
a circular motion.
An electric motor makes the axis rotates
in a fixed and single speed. The rotation
moves the compressor piston so it displaces
the refrigerant gas. This displacement
takes off heat from the refrigerator cabinet.
Due to the moving parts required to generate
refrigeration capacity, it is necessary to have
lubrication oil to reduce the friction.
In the 90s Embraco starts to develop a new
compressor concept based on the market
demand for more efficiency and less noise.
A new electric motor and an electronic device
made the variable capacity compressor possible.
The rotary movement is still moving the piston
and requiring oil for lubrication.
This development generated more than 30 patents
and enabled the launching of Embraco Fullmotion
in 1998. Today Fullmotion is a wider platform with
VEM, VEG, VES and VNEK models, for household
and commercial applications.
In 2000s Embraco innovates again and
starts to think in a completely new and
innovative compressor. A compressor
not based on rotation anymore,
but on linear movement. More than
that, a compressor without oil.
Different from the conventional and
Fullmotion compressors, the new motor
drives the piston directly.
With a simpler mechanism and innovative
ideas, friction was reduced and lubrication
oil is not necessary anymore.
After 74 patent deposits, Embraco presents
its all new Wisemotion, the world’s first oil-free
refrigeration compressor for home appliances.
