And ThenThey Came For Me:

By James Still

Remembering the World of Anne Frank

TheatreOCU and Oklahoma Children’s Theatre bring you the remarkable story of Anne Frank’s experience of hiding from the Nazis during the second World War along with stories of other young people and their families who were part of her life; some survived the Holocaust, others did not. The playwright, James Still, has said that this is meant not to be a ‘Holocaust play’ but a play about young people who lived during the Holocaust.

Uncle VanyaBy Anton Chekhov

Anton Chekhov’s classic 1897 play tells the story of missed connections, missed gunshots, longing and yearning, and finding the strength to go on when everything else is lost. Uncle Vanya is a sometimes funny, sometimes sexy, and often brooding play about love that often misses the mark: Sonya loves the doctor (he doesn’t notice her), Vanya loves Yelena (she doesn’t like him that way, and besides she is married), the doctor and Yelena might have feelings for each other, but will they be able to overcome social convention to admit it.

ArcadiaBy Tom Stoppard

Winner of a New York Drama Critics’ Circle Award and Olivier Award for Best Play, Arcadia moves back and forth between 1809 and the present at the elegant estate owned by the Coverly family. This brilliant play explores the nature of truth and time, the difference between classical and romantic temperaments, and the disruptive influence of sex on our life orbits the attraction Newton left out.

ArcadiaMuch Ado About Nothing

By William Shakespeare

William Shakespeare’s most sparkling, romantic comedy about two pairs of lovers.  Hero and Claudio are to be married in one week. To pass the time, they conspire with Don Pedro to set a “lover’s trap” for Benedick, an arrogant confirmed bachelor, and Beatrice, his favorite sparring partner. Meanwhile, the evil Don Jon conspires to break up the wedding by accusing Hero of infidelity. In the end, it all turns out to be “much ado about nothing.”

Picasso at the Lapin Agile

By Steve Martin

Winner of 1996 Outer Critics Circle Award for Best Off-Broadway Play.  This absurdist comedy places Albert Einstein and Pablo Picasso in a Parisian cafe in 1904, just before the renowned scientist transformed physics with his theory of relativity and the celebrated painter set the art world afire with cubism. In his first comedy for the stage, the popular actor and screenwriter, Steve Martin, plays fast and loose with fact, fame and fortune as these two geniuses muse on the century’s achievements and prospects as well as other fanciful topics with infectious dizziness.

Showing in the Burg Theatre

By Clare Boothe Luce

The Women is an acidic comedy about the pampered lives and power struggles of various wealthy Manhattan socialites and up-and-comers and the gossip that propels and damages their relationships. Originally set in the 1930s, this sometimes campy, sometimes viscious, and often funny play is being revamped by TheatreOCU. Presented in the Moot Courtroom, this production puts both the women in the play and the men behind them on trial. A not-to-be missed reworking of a classic American play!
