Director’s Notes

Identity is subjective.

Our perception of another person is distorted by our own needs at any given time, and it often robs us from connecting with who that person really is.

But sometimes I lose track of who I am. Sometimes I need you to be someone else. Sometimes I’m not ready for you to be you just yet. If you could just be who I need you to be right now, I might just find myself again.

Cast Biographies

Kerr Lordygan (Actor E) – With a BFA in Acting from USC, Kerr has relentlessly thrown himself on local stages for over 30 years – welcome or not – and now he is proud to force himself upon the acclaimed NOTE stage as well. He has been an

actor, director, writer and producer, but...hey, does anybody really read these? If you're reading this, send a signal…like, do the chicken dance. Or maybe just vogue...?

Greg Nussen (Karl (Actor C)) – Theatre of NOTE debut! Los Angeles: Boxes (Theatre West), Grow a Pair of Wings (Fresh Produce’d). New York: The Tempest (CSC), Four-Letter Word (CSC & World Event Young Artists in Nottingham, UK), The

Government Inspector (3LD), A Midsummer Night’s Dream (Pulse Ensemble), Old Paper Houses (Piehole). Greg is an improviser performing at The Groundlings and UCB. Co-host of Moron That Later, an NPR parody podcast on iTunes. Subscribe! MFA, Columbia. www.gregnussen.com

Alina Phelan (Voice/Julia (Actor D)) is super excited you’re here and loves this play. Other NOTE shows include: Rio Hondo, Entropy, Niagara Falls, Hamlet: The First Quarto (winner – Garland Award), I Wanna Hold Your Hand,

Disassembly, Hearts Like Fists, Figure 8 and Bing. Other theatres: ICT: Dead Man’s Cell Phone, All In The Timing. Chalk Rep: Family Planning (Best Actress Ovation nomination). Circle X: Lascivious Something. Open Fist: Love Water. Recent film and TV credits include: Grey’s Anatomy, Shameless, Rizzoli & Isles, The Selling. #Pro99

Jenny Soo (Deb (Actor A)) feels good to be back at NOTE. This past spring she played a sassy teen (perhaps for the last time) in Dry Land at the Echo. Recent film/TV credits include: Murder in Mexico and the upcoming thriller Division 19. She holds a

BFA from NYU and an MFA from the ART/MXAT Institute at Harvard University. She would like to thank Doug, Jerry, Travis x2, her family and especially her husband.

Travis York (Mark (Actor B)) is from Texas. He has worked with Soho Rep, The Echo, 13P, Salvage Vanguard, The Committee, NYTW, La Mama, PS 122 and The Flea, among others. TV/film: yeah, some. He is the Lit Manager for

NOTE and was a two-time recipient of the Michener Fellowship in Playwriting at UT Austin. For Maw-Maw.

Alternate Cast Biographies

Liesel Hansen (Deb (Actor A)) – Liesel is both excited and nervous. Let's do this. Previous projects include the Lionsgate horror film Children of Sorrow and the original cast of Re-Animator the Musical (soundtrack coming soon)!

Debbie Jaffe (Actor E) couldn't pass up a show with all versions of her name in the title! She was last seen at NOTE in Steve Yockey's Niagara Falls. She's currently working on Wingin' It, a web series she created with a dear friend from her MFA

program at the Actors Studio: www.winginit.tv. Call her for your kid's bar or bat mitzvah lessons; she plays Rabbi on Saturdays. ☺

Page 7: Theatre of NOTE presents the West Coast premiere of D DEB ... · Theatre of NOTE presents the West Coast premiere of . D DEB DEBBIE DEBORAH . By Jerry Lieblich . Directed by Doug

Sierra Marcks (Voice/Julia (Actor D)) – At NOTE: Phrazzled. Other southern CA credits include Long Beach Playhouse; Lyric Hyperion. NYC: Puppet Shakespeare Players; Adirondack Shakespeare; Merry Go Round Playhouse; 3V

Theatre; Red Fern Theatre and more. www.sierramarcks.com

Travis Moscinski (Karl (Actor C)) – Thank you for coming out this evening to visit our theatre and see our amazing show. This is a passion project of mine and I have to thank Jenny Soo and Travis York for all their hard work to make this dream a

reality. Most recently, you may have seen me in the racy comedy Entropy. And I’m very happy to be back on stage as part of this production. I hope that it makes you laugh and maybe think a little (or a lot). But most of all, I want you to have a good time. And thanks to my marvelous and understanding wife, Kelly, for putting up with me during this process. Cheers!

Phil Ward (Mark (Actor B)) has been a NOTE member since the eighties and shows no sign of going away. This century he’s appeared at NOTE in Clyt At Home, Lydia In Bed, 365 Plays/365 Days, Film, Have You Seen Alice, Copy and I

Wanna Hold Your Hand. He directs children’s theatre, performs at Disneyland, gigs occasionally as a guitar comic (you can see him a lot on KPBS in San Diego), and loves Silvie.
