WELCOME TO GREENSIDE 2017
FINDUS
When the Fringe began in 1947 eight groups arrived in Edinburgh wanting to perform at the International Festival but were refused. Instead of packing their bags and heading home they went ahead and performed on the Fringe of the International Festival. The nature of an open access festival where no one is denied entry was born . At Greenside we’d like to think we still uphold those very basic principles of accessibility and openness - our programme is truly eclectic , wide reaching, covers all genres, all levels of professionalism and encompasses acts from across the globe. We never have (and never will) tell someone that they can’t perform at Greenside due to artistic credibility which is why the programme you see before you is so beautifully varied and we’d like to think really encapsulates what the Fringe should be.
Each and every year we are thrilled to play our part in the biggest Festival in the World and this year is no exception. Not only are we celebrating our biggest ever programme of our #greensidefamily which translates into thousands of individual performances across the Fringe, we’ve also added another Studio space to our Infirmary Street venue which is now one of the powerhouses of open programming at the Fringe right in the heart of the Festival. Enjoy reading what we’ve put together for Fringe 2017 we’re absolutely sure you’ll find something you love. Darren and Tara Greenside Directors
Another map to add to your list! This one is important though... It will guide you from one Green venue to another! If it helps pop the addresses into your phone.
