The By Accident Food Thief

Rusty always tried to be a good dog. Whenever hisfamily left food on the table he would be the one to lick it upfor them. Whenever his family dropped food on the floorand forgot to clean it up, he would lick it spotless. You seewhen he thinks he is doing good, it doesn’t always end up thatway. When Sarah leaves a snack on the table for Leo, hemight not know that it was for him and not eat it. But when itgoes missing into Rusty’s stomach Sarah thinks it was Leowho ate it. But the thing is, they never said, “NO, don’t do that,don’t eat people food. It is bad for dogs.” So he never knewnot to do it. And his owners never actually saw him doing it inthe first place!

A couple months ago Sarah left the chicken, stuffing,and vegetables on the table while she went to go get Leo offthe Xbox for dinner. Rusty, on the other hand, could smellthat chicken from a mile away. He sprinted off his doggybed, through the living room, and into the kitchen to get that

chicken. He yanked and yanked but all he got off was a leg.He ran over to his doggy bed and quickly gobbled it up. Allthat was left was a little bone and a tiny scrap of meat. Butright as he was falling asleep he saw the scrap and swallowedit whole. The whole night he tasted and dreamed about thatchicken leg. Sarah just thought that Leo was just reallyhungry because he did just play basketball for an hour and ahalf. He also did not have snack after school.

But the next day when half the chicken bowl was gone,she knew something was up. She called the police andscreamed to the police “Hi, someone has been stealing myfood and I don’t know who it is! And since you are apoliceman can you find out who it is?”

“Sure, we will send John right over,” the policemanreplied.

So that day John the policeman came over to the houseand told them to put a trip wire in front of all the doorsleading into the house so that the thief would trip over itwhen he or she came in. What they didn’t know was thatRusty had been stealing their food and he was already in thehouse because of course he lived there.

Then night came and Sarah got Chinese from TheMandarin. Right before she went to get the food, she set upthe trip wire. Then. ten minutes later, she came back with

Chinese food and put it down on the counter. She waited ahalf an hour to see if the food thief would come and theperson didn’t come. So she went to get Leo from upstairswhere he was doing his homework, That was a sign for Rustyto get a little bite. So he did. Then, when Sarah came backinto the room, a quarter of the fried rice was gone!

She called the police and asked if she could talk toJohn and said, “Hi John, the trip wire didn’t work, Now whatshould I do?”

As she wrote down the note that John told her to writeher hands were shaking because she was imagining a giganticportion of food. She could not wait to consume a full portionof stupendous parmesan chicken with extra cheese. Shecould already smell the substantial cheesy chicken in hermouth with linguini on the side. The super chunky tomatosauce was a sensation worth dying for. It was like she was inlinguini paradise. It was like the chicken Rusty ate. Theperfect taste.

Since she didn’t know that Rusty was the food thief, Shedidn’t mind that he was right there next to her, Like he washer guardian dog. So he waited all day until night came. Hewaited for Sarah to place the note next to the pork. Then hetook it and didn’t touch the pork. He took it over to thedoggy bed and layed down and read it. It read: Dear thief, itwould be nice if you went somewhere else for a little or

forever while we restock on food and not starve. Then thenext day Rusty snuck out and went over to his best friendShack who was playing in his yard. He told Shack everythingthat he heard.

“Confess!” Shack told Rusty.

“ I don’t know what to do,” Rusty barked.

“Eat in front of them until they know it was you. If yougo on any further you're just going to be a really unhappydog,” Shack barked back.

“Fine, I’ll think it over and get back to youtomorrow.O.K,” answered Rusty.

Then Rusty sprinted home. When Rusty got home hewent over to his doggy bed and laid down to think. Whenmorning came, Rusty went to Shack to tell him his decision.

“Shack, I know what I’m going to do. I am going toconfess because you're right. I can’t go on any further and Ireally don’t like being unhappy,” Rusty answered.

“O.K. but do it fast,” retorted Shack.

Rusty ran home just before Sarah started cooking. Hewaited in his doggy bed until she was done cooking dinner.When she called Leo for dinner Rusty came too. He jumpedon the table and started eating the food until they realized ithad been him all along. Sarah was both shocked and happy.

She was happy to have food but shocked that it was Rustythe whole time. She just never thought that a dog, their dogwould steal food from his family. It did not make any sense.She was just glad everything was back to normal.

After they all had ice cream. Rusty needed a big bathafter.
