Pope John Paul II: “Theology of the Body”

Pope John Paul II wrote a book called “The Theology of the Body”. In it, the Pope discusses the story of Adam and Eve to find out what God created male and female bodies for.

He discovers that God created us to love and be loved - in His image and likeness. God made men and women to be “for” each other, to live out a deep love in marriage that reflects God’s own life-giving love.

Unfortunately, just like Adam and Eve, we can get things wrong.

1. What is Pope John Paul II’s “theology of the body” based on?

2. What is it about?**Does it surprise you that he

learns so much from the story of Adam and Eve? Why?
