- Accurate propagation predictionsReasons:In the mid 1990’s, our technology, similar to many innovations, was confined to academia. With intensive de-velopment effort our techno-logy matured and Wavecall made it available commer-cially.Speed, accuracy and robust-ness are not conflicting any more. Wide usage of Wave-Sight by leading operators is proof of this.

Highly ranked scientificconference papers and case studies reflect the above facts: www.wavecall.com/downloads/case_studies

Results:Poor knowledge of cell foot-prints leads to: • unreliable connections for GSM/GPRS/TDMA net-works due to interference or lack of coverage.• a dramatic loss of traffic for UMTS/CDMA networks due to soft handover. This also renders some sites useless as they cause more interference than they do serve expected traffic. In today’s market environment, quality is a strong differentiatorand some advanced operators use it in their marketing campaigns.

Radio planning is a chain:All Radio planning starts from the cell footprints, that is radio propagation coverage. Cell coverage is computed accor-ding to terrain and building data, base station location, antenna type, and azimuth & tilt. Frequency or power assignment must be found to support expected traffic. This chain is as weak as its weakest element. Inaccurate propagation is very destructive as all design efforts are based on it. Mistakes at early stages could only be recovered atgreat costs.

- Fully integrated in planning toolsThe Complete Solution:Wavecall´s strongly estab-lished partnership ensures the delivery of a complete solution with all the required components for radio net-work planning. Our partners include both planning tool vendors and building data base providers the world over.www.wavecall.com/partners

Inputs:Wavecall in collaboration with our geographical data base partners deliver you WaveSight compliant data: it is easily available – even of the shelves - and is these days cheaper than you think.

Only a Key:WaveSight is already fully integrated in leading radio network planning tools, such as Planet, Atoll, Enterprise, Odyssey, Ellipse, Wizard, ArcView and Astrix. Others will soon follow.

- Key featuresGetting more from your Network:WaveSight’s highly accurate coverage maps deliver all the required input for frequency planning or Monte Carlo simulations. WaveSight enables you to add capacity more easily, with less re-tuning and obtain a more robust design. With WaveSight you can investigate various radio network scenarios faster and more accurately than ever before.

No Calibration in urban environment:WaveSight requires in gene-ral no calibration, rather it simplifies planning a highly accurate network.Tuning functionalities are available for open areas.

Realistic Coverage:WaveSight’s coverage maps depict physical radio wave behavior. Street canyons and shadow effects due to buildings and terrain are both captured.A realistic coverage shape is key for interference matrix accuracy.

- Accepted by technology leaders"Using the WaveSight propagation model has significantly improved the performance of O2 UK's microcell layer. We have now used WaveSight to implement a number new frequency plans and have seen the inter-ference level drop by around 20 to 25%"Paul Murray mmo2 (UK) Feb 2003

“Starting in 2002, WaveSight has become part of our regular planning process for the microcell layer that has spread out in all major cities. We are happy with the added value of the model for it allows for a realistic estimation of the propagation and has helped in frequency planning of the hierachical cell structure. In addition the fact that the model does not require calibration saved us time and cost. Besides that, after two years of experience, we are now looking into a new possibility of using such realistic fieldstrenght as driver for rich mobile services. WaveSight starts generating value for radio engeneering and services in parallel.”Dipl-Ing. Ulrich Rokita, Mobilkom Austria

„WaveSight is the first tool we have ever tested that applies one model based on ray tracing for both micro and macro cells. What struck us most is the difference between cell shapes predicted by WaveSight in compari-son to classical tools. The measurementsconfirmed the accuracy of WaveSight. The tool was applicable right away without the usual calibration process which is required by other tools.“Bouygues Telecom / France

“Compared to the conventional bumpy road leading to high quality radio network design, WaveSight is a smooth and empty highway that leads you to achieve your goals in time…. It is like high quality oil for your radio network planning engine.”Prof. Dr. J.-F. Wagen, Univ. of AS Western Switzerland (Fribourg),

Most planning tool vendors deliver hotline and first level support directly. Wavecall’s engi-neers are also ready to support you whenever needed.

How is support delivered?

Yes, most planning tool vendors have WaveSight as an integrated option.

Could I purchase Wave-Sight from my planning tool vendors?

In general WaveSight does not require any calibration. However, a tunable version is available upon request.

Is WaveSight tunable and does it require calibration?

Yes, with WaveSight you can enable a module for the use of clutter layer information.

Can WaveSight use old clutter information we already have?

Yes, WaveSight computes indoor coverage but does not compute ray-tracing inside buildings. Outdoor coverage is considered and indoor attenuation is applied.

Does WaveSight take into account indoor coverage?

Yes, WaveSight works with all types of cellular radio environments.

Does WaveSight work in suburban- type cities?

Prices have dropped dramatically within the last few years and most large cities are even available off the shelf.

Are building database ex-pensive and available?

WaveSight requires building database in vector format, and terrain data. For detailed requirements, please consult our web site at: www.Wavecall.com/downloads

What kind of input data does WaveSight require?

WaveSight has been tested extensively with a frequency range of 0.9 GHz to 2.1GHz. The recommended range is between 0.5 GHz and 5 GHz. Theoretically, WaveSight could be used up to 60 GHz.

What is WaveSight’s fre-quency range?

No! WaveSight works with all types of cells, small, micro and macro.

Is WaveSight only valid for micro cells?
