MONEY PATTERNS 2Cents
Your child needs to be able to trace through simple dot - to - dot patterns and dosome colouring to do these worksheets.
These worksheets allows kids with limited pencil control to be able to complete maths money activities. This promotes greater confidence and allows them to access part of the school curriculum that they previously wouldn’t have been able to do.
SO WHY USE PATTERNS TO COUNT MONEY?
Remembering your times tables is much harder than learning a number pattern. There is more rhythm in counting 10 20 30 40 rather than 1x10 = 10 2x 10 = 20.
Tracing through the number patterns within the dot - to - dot pictures is a good wayof learning the sequence of numbers. The next step of colouring on top of the coinshelps slow them down. So rather than just rattling off the entire sequence of numbers you can work out when to stop based on how many you need.

TIPS FOR EXPLAINIING WHAT TO DO?

Point to the symbols in the speech box and tell your child what they
are e.g. Count by 10, colouring.

TIPS FOR EXTRA WORK Place real coins on top of the colouring worksheets to count the correct amount.Sort out a money box into same coins and count them using number patterns.
Use a light coloured texta and drawthrough the sequence. Give your child
another texta for them to do the same.
Write the number patterns on topof the coins if your child starts to get lost whilst they are counting.

Where do I start with my child?
Worksheets are grouped for each number pattern. There is a simpletracing sheet at the start followed by dot - to - dot activities.
