St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church
From Our Pastor, Fr. Matthew Zuberbueler De Nuestro Párroco, Padre Mateo Zuberbueler
Dear Friends, How wonderful it is when we live at peace with Jesus, in friendship with Him! On this Christ the King Sunday, days
before Thanksgiving Day, I invite you to read prayerfully and meditate on these insightful (seemingly inspired) verses from St. John Henry Newman (which I included in my homily two weeks ago, but which are more helpful when read and prayed slowly):
From The Dream of Gerontius, voice of the Angel: When then—if such thy lot—thou seest thy Judge, The sight of Him will kindle in thy heart, All tender, gracious, reverential thoughts. Thou wilt be sick with love, and yearn for Him, And feel as though thou couldst but pity Him, That one so sweet should e’er have placed Himself At disadvantage such, as to be used So vilely by a being so vile as thee. There is a pleading in His pensive eyes Will pierce thee to the quick, and trouble thee. And thou wilt hate and loathe thyself; for, though Now sinless, thou wilt feel that thou hast sinned, As never thou didst feel; and wilt desire To slink away, and hide from His sight And yet wilt have a longing aye to dwell Within the beauty of His countenance. And these two pains, so counter and so keen,-- The longing for Him, when thou seest Him not; The shame of self at thought of seeing Him,-- Will be thy veriest, sharpest purgatory. Jesus our King invites us today and each day to honor Him by gratefully returning to Him all that He gives us, blessing upon blessing. We thank Him for His Sacrifice on our behalf by our gratitude and love. Happy Thanksgiving! I will be with you in spirit while I am home in Texas with my family. We will pray together the funeral Mass for a cousin of ours who died after years of struggle with multiple sclerosis. With my prayers, Fr. Matthew Zuberbueler Pastor

Above and Beyond Special thanks are in order for some parishioners (who know who they are) who have given of their time, talent, skill, and energy for the sake of the parish and all of us. They are the ones who came to clean the church, especially the floors and the pews for Advent.
Blessings to everyone who volun-teers and serves our parish family.

Parish Roundtable Group Please join Father Z. with your generous and willing hearts and hands to a roundtable group designed to identify and connect resources with needs. There are many resources at the parish and in the area to offer people who are in need.
Oftentimes there are many gaps between those resources and the people who need them. The roundtable will meet on Thursday, December 5 at 7:30 pm in Room 4 of the parish offices.

Youth Ministry
Dear St. Anthony Parishioners, This Thanksgiving we have so many blessings to be thankful for that it is difficult to count them all! Take in the joy of these faces: our preschoolers, their teachers, and their Pastor. Just look at our preschoolers, each of them is a blessing; it is time for all of us at the school to give thanks to their families for taking the major step to join our school family. Thank you. The gift of a Catholic preschool education is an extraordinary beginning for each of these preschoolers; it is an opportunity for them to get an early start on both their faith formation and future academic success. The school is also very thankful that we have a wonderful Pastor, Father Zuberbueler, who loves being with the students and made many preschoolers happy as he blessed our new preschool play-ground. He then gave them the okay to play and have fun. I am personally thankful for the entire Saint Anthony community, without all of you we would not have a preschool. Your generous support of the school is a blessing we recount everyday. Our pre-school program is thriving and will be expanding this coming January. So, please spread the word, we will be able to accept even more three and four year old students. Please remember the Spirit of Saint Anthony Scholarship fund in your yearend giving, so many of our families benefit from this tuition assistance. I pray Our Lord fills your hearts with gratitude and joy this Thanksgiving as you enjoy time with your loved ones. Yours in Christ, Ms. Buçaj, Principal

Stewardship Reflection-First Sunday of Advent “Therefore, stay awake! For you do not know on which day your Lord will come.”
MATTHEW 24:42 People who have had health issues or near-death experiences generally have a greater appreciation for each day being a gift from God. The rest of us usually take for granted that we will be around tomorrow. But when you start to look at each day as a gift, you realize all the little miracles that happen daily and grow in gratitude for all that we have been given. You begin to see God's active presence in your life.
