Hello there
As I sit here and write my newsletter our little boy is
bouncing around in my tummy and making it quite hard
to focus on anything else It really is quite impossible to
comprehend that a whole new life has been created
and it getting ready to make his appearance to the
world. What a miracle and what a blessing!
It has also been absolutely amazing to me to see what joy this little life has already
brought to so many people. The ladies in prison have been really taken with watching
him grow and he has brought them much hope in the midst of very difficult
circumstances. I really pray that this will be just a small taste of the blessing he will be
to many many people as he grows up.
Much of our time is now being spent getting ready for his arrival, painting his room
and buying the necessary baby things. Thank you so much for making this possible for
us. Not only does your generosity make our ministry possible, but it also provides for us
as a family. We really do thank God for you and pray that you will be blessed
knowing the important part you are playing in helping us prepare for the arrival of our
son. May God honour and bless you!!!
Much love, Kim
Just 11 days to go until Vision Fest 2013!!! Vision Fest is a Christian music concert
hosted by World Vision and which aims at uniting and mobilising Christian youth from
across Lima in the cause of the protection of children and adolescents. This project
falls under Jaime’s department and as a result he is responsible for organising the
event.
Last year we managed to rally over 700 youth and this year
we are trusting for over 2000! It is an incredible opportunity for young people to become aware of and get involved in
various service projects in their communities.
The last few weeks have been very busy, but God has blessed
Jaime with a great team. It has also been a blessing to have
the support of many of the young people from Fe en Accion.
Below are some of the photos of us preparing the flyer for the
event and from a Christian concert where we were able to
hand out the flyers.
Please keep Jaime and his team in
your prayers and trust with us that
the event will be a great success.
Vision Fest 2013...
Thank you so much for praying for the work that we are doing in the children’s
libraries. I cannot even begin to describe the difference it has made to have the
teams from Fe en Accion serving in the libraries each week, especially now that my
tummy is getting bigger and I get a bit more tired. Together we have managed to do
a number of really lovely activities and it is wonderful to see how the little ones
respond to the one on one attention provided by those in our team.
What perhaps is even more exciting for me is that the team will continue to visit the
library even after I am on maternity leave. This is so important as Señora Leonor and
Señor Rios really do need the support.
However, I would like to ask you to please pray for the
safety of the team going to the Simon Bolivar library.
Just this last Saturday there was a vehicle heist and gun
fight right in front on the library. In God’s amazing
grace we were delayed by half an hour in getting
there, otherwise we would have been there at the
exact time of the heist. Please pray that God will
protect both the children and the team going in to visit
the library each week.
Faith in Action...
Santa Monica—The Purple Book has hit Peruvian prisons!!!! After some of the girls in Santa
Monica expressed a desire to study the Word more effectively, we have started going
through this biblical foundations course together. We are taking it quite slowly, but it is
great to see the kinds of questions that the girls are asking. Please trust with me that God
will use this course to bring the girls closer to Him and that they will be diligent in
completing it even after I am no long able to still go into the prison.
Piedras Gordas— Last Wednesday I was able to go and visit the ladies who have been
moved to Piedras Gordas prison. After an 90min car journey and a 2 1/2 hour wait to get
through the security checks (where I was made to lift up my top and show the insides of
my underwear to prove I was not smuggling anything—not nice!), I finally reached the
girls. We had a special time together in which I encouraged them to above all know that God loves them, that He is with them and that they have to choose whether or not they
obey Him. There have been a lot of interpersonal conflicts within the
group of late, so a lot of time afterwards was spent encouraging the
girls to walk in love and forgiveness.
Physically it was a very draining day and I was advised for that to be
my last visit to Piedras Gordas until baby arrives. The photos below
show the location of the prison in the desert and the photo to the
right is of my arms with all the stamps I collected at each security
check-point.
Saints in Cells….
Jaime and I would love to hear from you: please write to us at [email protected] or you could
call on +51 990 50 1552. My skype name is kimmysol.
Pray for the success of Vision Fest 2013; may many youth be inspired to serve their
communities.
Please pray for the Fe en Accion team as they continue to visit the children’s
libraries. May God give them wisdom as they minister to the children there and
may He protect them from any harm.
Please trust with us that the ladies in prison will make wholehearted decisions to
follow Jesus and that they will stay strong in faith
Please trust with our family for God’s financial provision for this new season.
A New Season…. As of today there are just 59 days to go until our little boy arrives.
Jaime and I really thank God that my pregnancy has gone very
smoothly so far and we are so excited for this next season of our
lives.
Because the ministry in the prisons and libraries generally takes me
to parts of Lima that are a bit dangerous and difficult to get to,
Jaime and I decided that I step back from active involvement in
these ministries as of the 16 March. At this point I will be 34 weeks
pregnant and would hate to suffer an emergency situation in a
place where help in not easy accessible.
For the remainder of the time until baby comes I will be dedicating my time to building
our ministry support team with the hope of raising more financial partnership. With the
added costs of a new member of the family and the devaluation of the Rand, we are
trusting that we can raise an additional R3000 each month. Please trust with us that
God will guide us to the correct people and that He will provide all that we need as a
family.
Please pray...
