No one knows ride and motion control like Gabriel®. After all, in 1907 we invented the original shock absorber. We continued to lead the industry over the years developing the first hydraulic shock absorber, the first adjustable shock absorber and the first air adjustable shock absorber. And as transportation and industrialization expanded throughout the 20th century, so did Gabriel.
Soon you could find our products on vehicles and applications as diverse as the manufacturing complex itself. Beginning in 1910, as American farmers turned America into the breadbasket of the
Riding the Independent Spirit for more than 100 years.
world, our shocks helped keep them more comfortable on their combines and tractors. Gabriel was there to answer the battle cry as well. From Detroit to D-day and beyond, Gabriel shocks were on a variety of military vehicles – troop transports, battle hardened trucks and more.
And we continue to be one of our nation’s trusted suppliers, even for things you might not imagine like dock levelers and snowplows. And of course, as the family car has become more highly developed and advanced, Gabriel has been there too.
Gabriel has been there. For the farmer in the field, who spends 18 hours on his tractor. For the overland truck driver. For people who work with industrial washing machines, construction equipment, utility vehicles and even car washes. For decades, hardworking people around the globe have relied on Gabriel’s innovative, hardworking solutions to provide quality, comfort, control, safety, performance and durability. No matter what the demands of the application, Gabriel products provide the perfect combination in each and every shock we manufacture.
No matter what the industry,we’ve got you covered.
Years of experience and breakthrough advances in technology have made Gabriel a legend in the automotive ride control business. And those same high standards have helped make us the go-to provider for other sectors of the manufacturing industry. From sporting goods to construction to snowplows to bowling alleys, Gabriel has an application-ready ride or motion control solution. Or we can discuss custom engineering one for you.
Rugged and reliable solutions throughout the years.
Quality, comfort, control, safety, performance and durability…Gabriel products provide the perfect combination.

Industrial Applications
All shocks are built to last. Ours are just built to last longer.
Wherever motion control and ride enhancement is needed.
Unlike other manufacturers, we chrome-plate the piston rods on every shock for every application we make – not just our “premium” ones. Chrome-plated piston rods keep rust at bay, providing an optimum sealing surface and extending the life of the piston rod seal. We also utilize a superior multi-lip rod seal design which helps ensure a durable, leak-proof seal.
Gabriel offers a substantial assortment of standard “off-the-shelf” options for over 40 industry accepted configurations which can meet most industrial application needs. These include products with bore sizes ranging from 1 inch up to 2-1/16 inches, in a variety of end mounts, body sizes, and extended and collapsible lengths. Our offerings cover multiple applications and angles – from vertical applications to shocks with gas cell design for horizontal and inverted applications. We even offer hydraulic stops to limit over extension on selected shocks. You also have choices in the oils you use:
Available in a wide variety of sizes.
We are ready to answer any questions you may have or provide you with more information.

In addition, we have a self compensating piston seal for more consistent damping forces throughout the life of the shock. And we rigorously test and validate all of our designs. It’s the right thing to do and it’s your guarantee that every shock we make delivers the quality and performance you expect from the original Gabriel.

STEP 2: Identify the mounting style. Measure fully extended and fullycollapsed lengths at the locations indicated for mounting style.
INSTRUCTIONS
1. Using the proper measuring points (as shown above) find the nearest replacement shock absorber from the listing by increments of extended length.
2. Identify the proper mounting from the mounting codes and match these requirements by carefully measuring the mounting dimensions (top and bottom) of the shock absorber to be replaced.
3. Carefully take note of the following requirements:
a. Dust Tubes — This requirement should be noted in comparison with the shock absorber to be replaced. In some operating environments, the dust tube is essential to protect the piston rod and extend the life of the shock absorber.
b. Recoil Cutoff and Compression Bumber — Carefully note these specifications for applications where shock absorber should not extend or collapse repeatedly and hit metal to metal.
c. Gas Cell — For applications where shock absorber is installed either nearly or completely horizontal.
