Thermal Detector: a photodetector that detects thermal radiation and converts it into a signal. By usingseveral single detection elements called pixels, it forms an array. Detectors provide only a detection signal, notan image. The main parts of a thermal detector system are:

e.g. IR motion detector Detector, packagedModule
e.g. IR motion detector
Detection chip with pixels
from 1 to 80 x 80 arrays
We consider as the pixel limit for detectors and imagers around 80 x 80. The reason is that
above this resolution it is impossible to do some scene (face, etc.) recognition with detector.

o Digital thermal detectors are gaining interest
o EBT/EST trend is cooling off in 2021, aspredicted, while other applications come back
o Thermal imaging for ADAS continues to develop, but volumes remain to be seen
o Integrated thermal sensor in a high-volumesmartphone like Honor Play 4 Pro did not proveits interest from the average consumer (notconsidering CAT/Blackview phones which areprofessional)
o Thermal detectors revenues in 2020 wereunderestimated, due to an underestimation ofASP increases and also due to the spike inrevenue growth from some manufacturers(Orisystech, Heimann, Senba Optoelectronics)
o GuideIR shipments were overestimated and forLynred underestimated for the year 2020.
o Revenue outlook for 2021 is higher thananticipated.
o Plug-in for smartphones are not decreasing aspredicted. Online sales channels like Amazon, help with sales, and the revenues remain flat forthis type of products.

THERMAL IMAGERS MARKET TRENDS
An overview of thermal imagers
Covid-19 crisis educated the market to thermal imaging. Manufacturers push toward a multitude of applications.
• In 2020, Covid-19 crisis rose a massive demandfor thermal imagers for EBT/EST.
• In 2021 interest for such application decreases. But this “blip” educated the market which isnow more familiar with thermal imaging.
• This trend from the customer side isaccentuated by thermal imager manufacturerswhich make efforts trying to find new usecases for thermal imaging.
• As a result, the overall market is doing well andalmost all segments are growing.

THERMAL IMAGERS MARKET TRENDS
Automotive thermal imaging: new projects and partnerships
Thermal imaging can be used in different manner in automotive.
• FLIR partners with Foresight to developthermal cameras in automotive. One resultfrom this partnership is the bispectrumvideo system integrating two visible imagesensors with two thermal imagers forADAS 3D stereo thermal imaging
• Veoneer has won a contract with Cadillacto provide thermal cameras for nightvision and pedestrian detection.
• Adasky started a production contract withAmerican car OEM. We believe it could beGeneral Motors because they already usethermal technologies in their Super Cruisesystems. The Viper system will be integratedfrom 2023 and should prevent from forwardcollision.
