Kingspan, the market leader in Insulated Roof and Wall Panel Systems is advancing facade technology by introducing aunique system that offers designers all the benefits of constructing with insulated panels, but also offers increasedvisual flexibility with the use of ceramic tiles in a tile hanging type application.

Creating Unique Architecture Design and aesthetics make architecture distinct or evenunique. However, a basic requirement for a successful longterm solution, is practical, weather resistant and lowmaintenance materials. The range of architectural ceramic tiles offered in the Kingspan Thermatile system has beendeveloped to meet the highest design and functionalstandards. The range is wide, offering diverse designpossibilities whilst high quality raw materials and manufacturing know-how ensure product longevity.

Kingspan Increasing Visual OptionsKingspan Thermatile is a completely unique facade system. It is an innovative and modern method of construction. The system offers designers all the benefits of constructingwith insulated panels, but importantly also offers increasedvisual options and flexibility with the use of ceramic tiles in a tile hanging type application.

Architects all over the world, especially in mainland Europe, have recognised the aesthetic appeal and design flexibility ofceramic tiles. The natural beauty and symmetry of the tiles liesin the precise and clean lines achieved without overlapping. The stark contrast of the joint and the smooth tile, enhance thevisual allure of the facade. It is as a result of this feature thatlandmark buildings can now be easily created using theKingspan Thermatile system.

Quality & DurabilityKingspan Insulated Panels are manufactured from the highestquality materials, using state of the art production equipment torigorous quality control standards, complying with ISO 9001: 2000standard, ensuring long term reliability and service life.

Guarantees & WarrantiesKingspan’s Total Guarantee will provide external coating andproduct warranties and guarantees on an individual project basis.

PackingStandard PackingKingspan wall panels are stacked horizontally (with weather sheetupward). Removable hot melt adhesive is laid between each panel. The top, bottom, sides and ends are protected with polystyreneand timber packing and the entire pack is wrapped in polythene. The number of panels in each pack depends on panel thickness,as shown in the table. Typical pack height is 1100mm.

Sea FreightFully timber crated packs are available on projects requiringdelivery by sea freight shipping, at additional cost. Alternatively, steel containers can be used. Special loading charges apply.

DeliveryAll deliveries (unless indicated otherwise) are by road transport toproject site. Off loading is the responsibility of the client.

Site Installation Procedure Site assembly instructions are available from the KingspanTechnical Design Bureau.

BiologicalKingspan panels are normally immune to attack from mould, fungi, mildew and vermin. No urea formaldehyde is used in theconstruction, and the panels are not considered deleterious.

FireSteel and aluminium outer and inner facings have Class 1 surfacespread of flame to BS 476: Part 7: 1987, and are Class 0, asdefined by Building Regulations.KS1000 TT is available with LPCB certification, with steel facings.Firewall specifications to provide fire resistance ratings to BS 476:Part 22: 1987 are available on request from Kingspan TechnicalDesign Bureau or visit our web site at www.kingspanpanels.com

AcousticsKS1000 TT panels comply with Building Regulations Part E fornon-domestic buildings. For residential, domestic, educationand healthcare building applications, BB93 and HTM 2045solutions, consult Kingspan Technical Design Bureau.

All KS1000 TT panels have a single figure weighted sound reductionRw = 25dB.

Notes:1. Values have been calculated using the limit state method described in the

“European Recommendations for the Design of Sandwich Panels”(ECCS document No.115 2001), taking imposed loads, temperature andcreep into account.

2. For each value individual and combined load cases with appropriate loadfactors and temperatures have been considered. These are detailedunder “Structural Performance” in the Building Design Section.

3. The Table is for dark coloured panels.

4. The following deflection limits have been used:

Pressure loading L/150

Suction loading L/150

5. For intermediate values linear interpolation may be used.

6. The standard fastener pattern is shown in the construction details. Aminimum of two fasteners per panel per rail are required. The allowablesuction load can be calculated using the procedure shown in the designexample under “Structural Performance” in the Building Design Section.

7. The allowable steelwork tolerance between bearing planes of adjacentsheeting rails is ±5mm.

8. Load span tables for panel specifications not shown are available from the Kingspan Technical Design Bureau.

The secondary steel framing system supporting the KS1000 TTpanel and tile system needs to be designed to accept the deadloads of the complete system as well as the usual live loads.

Please note that single elevations of tiles should be ordered in a"single batch" to avoid shading problems.

To avoid shortages of tiles due to site breakages from damage /cutting we recommend 3% spares are ordered.

InstallationAll fasteners and seals to be of correct specification and installedas indicated on the project construction drawings.Site cut panels must provide accurate, true lines with no distortion, panels to be cut with powered reciprocating type saw and allexposed site cut panels to be treated with a suitable edgeprotection lacquer. Cut openings for outlets, vents, flues etc. to bethe minimum size necessary.Remove all swarf and any foreign matter immediately from theexternal surface of panels.Panels must be assembled so that joint widths are consistent andparallel.

Insulated Panel Identification & LabellingWhen the roofing and /or the wall cladding to this building iscompleted, a label identifying the composition of the insulatedpanels is to be fitted.

This label illustrates the type of Insulated panels fitted, to assistInsurers, Fire Officers, Owners and Occupiers identify the envelopecomposition.

It is a recommendation of the Kingspan Product Guarantee thatthe insulated panel identification label, which will have a specificproject registration number, is installed in an agreed location. Theproject architect, cladding subcontractor or owner should locate orinstruct the location of these labels in an appropriate andaccessible location on the building.

SafetyThe contractor is to determine and use a safe method of workingthroughout the installation and construction period, whichcomplies with HSE & CDM requirements.
