As the global economy shrinks, the U.S. is suffering as well. Every country is decreasing their product imports, trying to fight the economic recession. China has been involved into this wave as well. More than 30% of China’s economy depends on exports, yet factories are still closing today. Closing down factories in China means that many workers lose their entire financial support. Jobless issue has been become a serious problem there nowadays. Furthermore, in ad-dition to the unemployment crisis, China is also the world’s largest CO2 emitter since they have great amount of factories on their territory. The goal of this pro-ject is not only to change the factory workers’ employment situation, but also to assist them to enter into the green industry. The SWITCH CHINA campaign will be a channel to address these two problems at once.

A green collar job would revive the solar manufacturing base in this country and provide opportunity to people who otherwise might not be able to make a good living or who may have recently lost a job. A small business is the lifeblood of the economy for many communities so when a green collar job is a part of a small business, it is a winning combination. * A clean energy section that promotes renewable sources of energy; such as residential and commercial solar energy on a very large scale. * There are good opportunities out there that do not require an upfront investment. Emerging technology in renewable energy is creating what are called green collar jobs. Solar energy is now a viable business opportunity for the home based business owner. The outlook for renewable energy in 2009-2010 is very bright. * Solar panels produce clean renewable energy that once installed will continue to produce free solar power for homes for up to 25 years. * Adi corunt ad que estrumquatia dolect-

Expanding the use of renewable energy is not only good for our energy self-sufficiency and the environment; it also has a signifi-cant positive impact on employment. This is the conclusion of 13 independent reports and studies that analyze the economic and employment impacts of the clean energy industry in the United States and Europe. These studies employ a wide range of methods, which adds credence to the findings, but at the same time makes a direct comparison of the numbers difficult. In addition to review-ing and comparing these studies, we have examined the assump-tions used in each case, and developed a job creation model which shows their implications for employment under several future

energy scenarios. *Is nia solupis essimpo rundit, sinvel idendan dipsum repeliam intur aut volo maios exceperior asperior sint labo. ” “—David Brower(Environmentalist, b. I9I2)

We do not inherit the Earth from our Ancestors, we borrow it from our Children.

Page 29: thesis: solutions
Page 30: thesis: solutions

The green economy needs a cadre of specialized software develop-ers and engineers who design, build, and maintain the networks of sensors and stochastic modeling that underpin wind farms, smart energy grids, congestion pricing and other systems substituting in-telligence for natural resources. Coders with experience using large scale enterprise resource planning have an edge here * Wind is the leading and fastest-growing source of alternative energy with over

300,000 jobs worldwide. Turbines are 90% metal by weight, cre-ating an opportunity for autoworkers and other manufacturers to repurpose their skills. According to the American Wind Energy As-sociation, the industry currently employs some 50,000 Americans and added 10,000 new jobs in 2007. The Earth is unevenly heated by the sun, such that the poles receive less energy from the sun than the equator; along with this, dry land heats up (and cools down) more quickly than the seas do. The differential heating drives a global atmospheric convection system reaching from the Earth’s surface to the stratosphere which acts as a virtual ceiling. Most of the energy stored in these wind movements can be found at high altitudes where continuous wind speeds of over 160 km/h occur. Eventually, the wind energy is converted through friction into dif-fuse heat throughout the Earth’s surface and the atmosphere.

Despite the many solar energy advantages, however, additionally, there are disad-vantages. First, people need sunshine to be able to produce solar power electricity. Consequently at night time, there isn’t any electricity being produced. Since people who install solar enegry system can also have the efficient battery backup systems in their house, therefore, peopel can still consume electricity at night; and even on cloudy days the solar panel system generates some solar power electricity. * Solar powered electrical generation relies on heat engines and photovoltaics. Solar en-ergy’s uses are limited only by human ingenuity. A partial list of solar applications includes space heating and cooling through solar architecture, potable water via distillation and disinfection, daylighting, solar hot water, solar cooking, and high temperature process heat for industrial purposes. To harvest the solar energy, the most common way is to use solar panels. * Solar technologies are broadly charac-terized as either passive solar or active solar depending on the way they capture, convert and distribute solar energy. Active solar techniques include the use of pho-

tovoltaic panels and solar thermal collectors to harness the energy. Passive solar techniques include orienting a building to the Sun, selecting materials with favorable thermal mass or light dispers-ing properties, and designing spaces that naturally circulate air.

Page 36: thesis: solutions

The first reason to go with solar power is that people can take con-trol of their utility bills. They pay upfront for the installation, also give jobless people a chance to work. In the other hand, after in-stallation, people have virtually free power from the sun for the life of the installation for at least 20 years. If the house owner decides to install a conventional system with battery storage, the house can establish independence from power interruptions.

On the environmental front, the use of solar power for electric-ity reduces the amount of pollution that generating plants have to produce. This is, of course, a topic of current interest, with the widespread belief that fossil fuel use is contributing to glob-al warming and the demise of the planet. The wonderful thing about solar power is that it is a renewable energy source, and will be available for ever, for all practical (human) purposes, unlike oil or coal which become increasingly used up with each pass-ing year. * According to mechanical engineers at the University of Wisconsin’s Solar Energy Laboratory, an average four-person household with an electric water heater needs about 6,400 kilo-watt hours of electricity per year to heat their water. Assuming the electricity is generated by a typical power plant with an ef-ficiency of around 30 percent, it means that the average elec-tric water heater is responsible for about eight tons of carbon dioxide (CO2) annually, which is almost double that emitted by a typical modern automobile. The same family of four using either a natural gas or oil-fired water heater will contribute about two tons of CO2 emissions annually in heating their water.

One of the latest advancements by the Japanese in battery technol-ogy. It is a battery that runs off of regular drinking water, or almost any other water based liquid for that matter. Typically, a large va-riety of aqueous solutions can be used in place of plain water. This battery type is specifically designed to be more environmentally friendly due to an absence of heavy metals. Water-activated bat-

teries are used most commonly found in radiosondes which cannot contain heavy metals because they regularly fall to the ground or ocean surface and remain there indefinitely. * Aluminum anodes are used on many water-activated batteries designed for use with seawater and its high salinity. The batteries come with a syringe to inject water or electrolyte, such as juice. Diagnostic kits using copper-magnesium cells activated by water or the liquid sample itself are also in development. However these batteries have failed to make an impact due to their extreme low power output and very short active life-span. Moreover , due to the chemical reaction involving magnesium , these batteries are known to deform and cause damage to products used with these batteries. *On porrum re porehendam facepudiati omnient aut venis volum quiam, quam, sunt quam destoreped quo omnis porende llaciis quam et,Da enis simenih illabori offic toritaquam fuga.
