THESE be the 72 Mighty Kings and Princes which KingSolomon Commanded into a Vessel of Brass, together withtheir Legions. Of whom BELIAL, BILETH, ASMODAY, andGAAP, were Chief. And it is to be noted that Solomon did thisbecause of their pride, for he never declared other reasonwhy he thus bound them. And when he had thus bound themup and sealed the Vessel, he by Divine Power did chase themall into a deep Lake or Hole in Babylon. And they of Babylon,wondering to see such a thing, they did then go wholly intothe Lake, to break the Vessel open, expecting to find greatstore of Treasure therein. But when they had broken it open,out flew the Chief Spirits immediately, with their Legionsfollowing them; and they were all restored to their formerplaces except BELIAL, who entered into a certain Image, andthence gave answers unto those who did offer Sacrifices untohim, and did worship the Image as their God, etc.


The First Principal Spirit is a King ruling inthe East, called BaelBaelBaelBaelBael. He maketh thee togo Invisible. He ruleth over 66 Legions ofInfernal Spirits. He appeareth in diversshapes, sometimes like a Cat, sometimeslike a Toad, and sometimes like a Man,and sometimes all these forms at once. Hespeaketh hoarsely. This is his characterwhich is used to be worn as a Lamen beforehim who calleth him forth, or else he willnot do thee homage.


The Second Spirit is a Duke called AgreasAgreasAgreasAgreasAgreas,or AgaresAgaresAgaresAgaresAgares. He is under the Power of theEast, and cometh up in the form of an oldfair Man, riding upon a Crocodile, carryinga Goshawk upon his fist, and yet mild inappearance. He maketh them to run thatstand still, and bringeth back runaways.He teaches all Languages or Tonguespresently. He hath power also to destroyDignities both Spiritual and Temporal, andcauseth Earthquakes. He was of the Orderof Virtues. He hath under his government3I Legions of Spirits. And this is his Seal orCharacter which thou shalt wear as aLamen before thee.


The Third Spirit is a Mighty Prince, beingof the same nature as Agares. He is calledVVVVVassagoassagoassagoassagoassago. This Spirit is of a Good Nature,and his office is to declare things Past andto Come, and to discover all things Hid orLost. And he governeth 26 Legions ofSpirits, and this is his Seal.


The Fourth Spirit is Samigina Samigina Samigina Samigina Samigina or GamiginGamiginGamiginGamiginGamigin,a Great Marquis. He appeareth in the formof a little Horse or Asss and then intoHuman shape doth he change himself atthe request of the Master. He speaketh witha hoarse voice. He ruleth over 30 Legionsof Inferiors. He teaches all Liberal Sciences,and giveth account of Dead Souls that diedin sin. And his Seal is this, which is to beworn before the Magician when he isInvocator, etc.


The fifth Spirit is MarbasMarbasMarbasMarbasMarbas. He is a GreatPresident, and appeareth at first in the formof a Great Lion, but afterwards, at therequest of the Master, he putteth on HumanShape. He answereth truly of things Hiddenor Secret. He causeth Diseases and cureththem. Again, he giveth great Wisdom andKnowledge in Mechanical Arts; and canchange men into other shapes. Hegoverneth 36 Legions of Spirits. And hisSeal is this, which is to be worn asaforesaid.


The Sixth Spirit is VVVVValeforaleforaleforaleforalefor. He is a mightyDuke, and appeareth in the shape of a Lionwith an Ass’s Head, bellowing. He is a goodFamiliar, but tempteth them he is a familiarof to steal. He governeth IO Legions ofSpirits. His Seal is this, which is to be worn,whether thou wilt have him for a Familiar,or not.


The Seventh Spirit is AmonAmonAmonAmonAmon. He is a Marquisgreat in power, and most stern. Heappeareth like a Wolf with a Serpent’s tail,vomiting out of his mouth flames of fire;but at the command of the Magician heputteth on the shape of a Man with Dog’steeth beset in a head like a Raven; or elselike a Man with a Raven’s head (simply).He telleth al} things Past and to Come. Heprocureth feuds and reconcilethcontroversies between friends. Hegoverneth 4o Legions of Spirits. His Seal isthis which is to be worn as aforesaid, etc.


The Eighth Spirit is BarbatosBarbatosBarbatosBarbatosBarbatos. He is a GreatDuke, and appeareth when the Sun is inSagittary, with four noble Kings and theircompanies of great troops. He givethunderstanding of the singing of Birds, andof the Voices of other creatures, such asthe barking of Dogs. He breaketh theHidden Treasures open that have been laidby the Enchantments of Magicians. He isof the Order of Virtues, of which some parthe retaineth still; and he knoweth all thingsPast, and to Come, and conciliateth Friendsand those that be in Power. He ruleth over3o Legions of Spirits. His Seal of Obedienceis this, the which wear before thee asaforesaid.


The Ninth Spirit in this Order is PPPPPaimonaimonaimonaimonaimon, a Great King, and veryobedient unto LUCIFER. He appeareth in the form of a Mansitting upon a Dromedary with a Crown most glorious upon hishead. There goeth before him also an Host of Spirits, like Menwith Trumpets and well sounding Cymbals, and all other sortsof Musical Instruments. He hath a great Voice, and roareth athis first coming, and his speech is such that the Magician cannotwell understand unless he can compel him. This Spirit can teachall Arts and Sciences, and other secret things. He can discoverunto thee what the Earth is, and what holdeth it up in the Waters;and what Mind is, and where it is; or any other thing thou mayestdesire to know. He giveth Dignity, and confirmeth the same. Hebindeth or maketh any man subject unto the Magician if he sodesire it. He giveth good Familiars, and such as can teach allArts. He is to be observed towards the West. He is of the Orderof Dominations. He hath under him 200 Legions of Spirits, andpart of them are of the Order of Angels, and the other part ofPotentates. Now if thou callest this Spirit Paimon alone, thoumust make him some offering; and there will attend him twoKings called LABAL and ABAL1M, and also other Spirits who beof the Order of Potentates in his Host, and 25 Legions. Andthose Spirits which be subject unto them are not always withthem unless the Magician do compel them. His Character is thiswhich must be worn as a Lamen before thee, etc.


The Tenth Spirit is BuerBuerBuerBuerBuer, a Great President.He appeareth in Sagittary, and that is hisshape when the Sun is there. He teachesPhilosophy, both Moral and Natural, andthe Logic Art, and also the Virtues of allHerbs and Plants. He healeth all distempersin man, and giveth good Familiars. Hegoverneth 50 Legions of Spirits, and hisCharacter of obedience is this, which thoumust wear when thou callest him forth untoappearance.


The Eleventh Spirit in order is a great andstrong Duke, called GusionGusionGusionGusionGusion. He appearethlike a Xenopilus. He telleth all things, Past,Present, and to Come, and showeth themeaning and resolution of all questionsthou mayest ask. He conciliateth andreconcileth friendships, and giveth Honourand Dignity unto any. He ruleth over 40Legions of Spirits. His Seal is this, the whichwear thou as aforesaid.


The Twelfth Spirit is SitriSitriSitriSitriSitri. He is a GreatPrince, and appeareth at first with aLeopard’s head and the Wings of aGryphon, but after the command of theMaster of the Exorcism he putteth onHuman shape, and that very beautiful. Heenflameth men with Women’s love, andWomen with Men’s love; and causeth themalso to show themselves naked if it bedesired. He governeth 60 Legions of Spirits.His Seal is this, to be worn as a Lamenbefore thee, etc.


The Thirteenth Spirit is called Beleth Beleth Beleth Beleth Beleth (or Bileth, or Bilet). He is amighty King and terrible. He rideth on a pale horse with trumpetsand other kinds of musical instruments playing before him. Heis very furious at his first appearance, that is, while the Exorcistlayeth his courage; for to do this he must hold a Hazel Wand inhis hand, striking it out towards the South and East Quarters,make a triangle, without the Circle, and then command himinto it by the Bonds and Charges of Spirits as hereafter followeth.And if he doth not enter into the triangle, at your threats,rehearse the Bonds and Charms before him, and then he willyield Obedience and come into it, and do what he iscommanded by the Exorcist. Yet he must receive him courteouslybecause he is a Great King, and do homage unto him, as theKings and Princes do that attend upon him. And thou musthave always a Silver Ring on the middle finger ol the left handheld against thy face, as they do yet before AMAYMON. ThisGreat King Beleth causeth all the love that may be, both ofMen and of Women, until the Master Exorcist hath had his desirefulfilled. He is of the Order of Powers, and he governeth 85Legions of Spirits. His Noble Seal is this, which is to be wornbefore thee at working.


The Fourteenth Spirit is called LLLLLeraje eraje eraje eraje eraje (orLeraie). He is a Marquis Great in Power,showing himself in the likeness of an Archerclad in Green, and carrying a Bow andQuiver. He causeth all great Battles andContests; and maketh wounds to putrefrythat are made with Arrows by Archers. Thisbelongeth unto Sagittary. He governeth 30Legions of Spirits, and this is his Seal, etc.


The Fifteenth Spirit in Order is EligosEligosEligosEligosEligos, aGreat Duke, and appeareth in the form ofa goodly Knight, carrying a Lance, anEnsign, and a Serpent. He discoverethhidden things, and knoweth things to come;and of Wars, and how the Soldiers will orshall meet. He causeth the Love of Lordsand Great Persons. He governeth 60Legions of Spirits. His Seal is this, etc.


The Sixteenth Spirit is ZeparZeparZeparZeparZepar. He is a GreatDuke, and appeareth in Red Apparel andArmour, like a Soldier. His office is to causeWomen to love Men, and to bring themtogether in love. He also maketh thembarren. He governeth 26 Legions of InferiorSpirits, and his Seal is this, which heobeyeth when he seeth it.


The Seventeenth Spirit is BotisBotisBotisBotisBotis, a GreatPresident, and an Earl. He appeareth atthe first show in the form of an ugly Viper,then at the command of the Magician heputteth on a Human shape with GreatTeeth, and two Horns, carrying a bright andsharp Sword in his hand. He telleth allthings Past, and to Come, and reconcilethFriends and Foes. He ruleth over 60Legions of Spirits, and this is his Seal, etc.


The Eighteenth Spirit is BathinBathinBathinBathinBathin. He is aMighty and Strong Duke, and appearethlike a Strong Man with the tail of a Serpent,sitting upon a Pale-coloured [Horse ?]. Heknoweth the Virtues of Herbs and PreciousStones, and can transport men suddenlyfrom one country to another. He ruleth over30 Legions of Spirits. His Seal is this whichis to be worn as aforesaid.


The Nineteenth Spirit is Sallos Sallos Sallos Sallos Sallos (or Saleos).He is a Great and Mighty Duke, andappeareth in the form of a gallant Soldierriding on a Crocodile, with a Ducal Crownon his head, but peaceably. He causeththe Love of Women to Men, and of Men toWomen; and governeth 30 Legions ofSpirits. His Seal is this, etc.


The Twentieth Spirit is PursonPursonPursonPursonPurson, a Great King. Hisappearing is comely, like a Man with a Lion’s face,carrying a cruel Viper in his hand, and riding upon aBear. Going before him are many Trumpets sounding.He knoweth all things hidden, and can discoverTreasure, and tell all things Past, Present, and to Come.He can take a Body either Human or Aerial, andanswereth truly of all Earthly things both Secret andDivine, and of the Creation of the World. He bringethforth good Familiars, and under his Government therebe 22 Legions of Spirits, partly of the Order of Virtuesand partly of the Order of Thrones. His Mark, Seal, orCharacter is this, unto the which he oweth obedience,and which thou shalt wear in time of action, etc.


The Twenty-first Spirit is MaraxMaraxMaraxMaraxMarax. He is aGreat Earl and President. He appearethlike a great Bull with a Man’s face. Hisoffice is to make Men very knowing inAstronomy, and all other Liberal Sciences;also he can give good Familiars, and wise,knowing the virtues of Herbs and Stoneswhich be precious. He governeth 30Legions of Spirits, and his Seal is this, whichmust be made and worn as aforesaid, etc.


The Twenty-second Spirit is IposIposIposIposIpos. He is anEarl, and a Mighty Prince, and appearethin the form of an Angel with a Lion’s Head,and a Goose’s Foot, and Hare’s Tail. Heknoweth all things Past, Present, and toCome. He maketh men witty and bold. Hegoverneth 36 Legions of Spirits. His Seal isthis, which thou shalt wear, etc.


The Twenty-third Spirit is AimAimAimAimAim. He is a GreatStrong Duke. He appeareth in the form ofa very handsome Man in body, but withthree Heads; the first, like a Serpent, thesecond like a Man having two Stars on hisForehead, the third like a Calf. He ridethon a Viper, carrying a Firebrand in hisHand, wherewith he setteth cities, castles,and great Places, on fire. He maketh theewitty in all manner of ways, and giveth trueanswers unto private matters. He governeth26 Legions of Inferior Spirits; and his Sealis this, which wear thou as aforesaid, etc.


The Twenty-fourth Spirit is NaberiusNaberiusNaberiusNaberiusNaberius. He isa most valiant Marquis, and showeth inthe form of a Black Crane fluttering aboutthe Circle, and when he speaketh it is witha hoarse voice. He maketh men cunningin all Arts and Sciences, but especially inthe Art of Rhetoric. He restoreth lostDignities and Honours. He governeth I9Legions of Spirits. His Seal is this, which isto be worn, etc.


The Twenty-fifth Spirit is GlasyaLGlasyaLGlasyaLGlasyaLGlasyaLabolasabolasabolasabolasabolas. Heis a Mighty President and Earl, and showethhimself in the form of a Dog with Wingslike a Gryphon. He teacheth all Arts andSciences in an instant, and is an Author ofBloodshed and Manslaughter. He teachethall things Past, and to Come. If desired hecauseth the love both of Friends and- ofFoes. He can make a Man to go Invisible.And he hath under his command 36Legions of Spirits. His Seal is this, to be,etc.


The Twenty-sixth Spirit is Bune Bune Bune Bune Bune (or Bimé). He is aStrong, Great and Mighty Duke. He appearethin the form of a Dragon with three heads, onelike a Dog, one like a Gryphon, and one like aMan. He speaketh with a high and comely Voice.He changeth the Place of the Dead, and causeththe Spirits which be under him to gather togetherupon your Sepulchres. He giveth Riches unto aMan, and maketh him Wise and Eloquent. Hegiveth true Answers unto Demands. And hegoverneth 3o Legions of Spirits. His Seal is this,unto the which he oweth Obedience. He hathanother Seal (which is the first of these, but thelast is the best).


The Twenty-seventh Spirit is RonovéRonovéRonovéRonovéRonové. Heappeareth in the Form of a Monster. Heteacheth the Art of Rhetotic very well, andgiveth Good Servants, Knowledge ofTongues, and Favours with Friends or Foes.He is a Marquis and Great Earl; and therebe under his command 19 Legions ofSpirits. His Seal is this, etc.


The Twenty-eighth Spirit in Order, as Solomon boundthem, is named BerithBerithBerithBerithBerith. He is a Mighty, Great, and TerribleDuke. He hath two other Names given unto him by menof later times, viz: BEALE, or BEAL, and BOFRY orBOLFRY. He appeareth in the Form of a Soldier withRed Clothing, riding upon a Red Horse, and having aCrown of Gold upon his head. He giveth true answers,Past, Present, and to Come. Thou must make use of aRing in calling him forth, as is before spoken ofregarding Beleth. He can turn all metals into Gold. Hecan give Dignities, and can confirm them unto Man.He speaketh with a very clear and subtle Voice. He is aGreat Liar, and not to be trusted unto. He governeth 26Legions of Spirits. His Seal is this, etc.


The Twenty-ninth Spirit is AstarothAstarothAstarothAstarothAstaroth. He is a Mighty, StrongDuke, and appeareth in the Form of an hurtful Angel ridingon an Infernal Beast like a Dragon, and carrying in hisright hand a Viper. Thou must in no wise let him approachtoo near unto thee, lest he do thee damage by his NoisomeBreath. Wherefore the Magician must hold the MagicalRing near his face, and that will defend him. He givethtrue answers of things Past, Present, and to Come, andcan discover all Secrets. He will declare wittingly how theSpirits fell, if desired, and the reason of his own fall. Hecan make men wonderfully knowing in all Liberal Sciences.He ruleth 40 Legions of Spirits. His Seal is this, which wearthou as a Lamen before thee, or else he will not appearnor yet obey thee, etc.


The Thirtieth Spirit is FFFFForneusorneusorneusorneusorneus. He is a Mightyand Great Marquis, and appeareth in theForm of a Great Sea-Monster. He teacheth,and maketh men wonderfully knowing inthe Art of Rhetoric. He causeth men to havea Good Name, and to have the knowledgeand understanding of Tongues. He makethone to be beloved of his Foes as well as ofhis Friends. He governeth 29 Legions ofSpirits, partly of the Order of Thrones, andpartly of that of Angels. His Seal is this,which wear thou, etc.


The Thirty-first Spirit is FFFFForasorasorasorasoras. He is a MightyPresident, and appeareth in the Form of aStrong Man in Human Shape. He can givethe understanding to Men how they mayknow the Virtues of all Herbs and PreciousStones. He teacheth the Arts of Logic andEthics in all their parts. If desired he makethmen invisible, and to live long, and to beeloquent. He can discover Treasures andrecover things Lost. He ruleth over 29Legions of Spirits, and his Seal is this, whichwear thou, etc.


The Thirty-second Spirit is AsmodayAsmodayAsmodayAsmodayAsmoday, or AsmodaiAsmodaiAsmodaiAsmodaiAsmodai. He is a Great King,Strong, and Powerful. He appeareth with Three Heads, whereof thefirst is like a Bull, the second like a Man, and the third like a Ram; hehath also the tail of a Serpent, and from his mouth issue Flames ofFire. His Feet are webbed like those of a Goose. He sitteth upon anInfernal Dragon, and beareth in his hand a Lance with a Banner. Heis first and choicest under the Power of AMAYMON, he goeth beforeall other. When the Exorcist hath a mind to call him, let it be abroad,and let him stand on his feet all the time of action, with his Cap orHead-dress off; for if it be on, AMAYMON will deceive him and callall his actions to be bewrayed. But as soon as the Exorcist seethAsmoday in the shape aforesaid, he shall call him by his Name,saying: “Art thou Asmoday?” and he will not deny it, and by-and-byhe will bow down unto the ground. He giveth the Ring of Virtues; heteacheth the Arts of Arithmetic, Astronomy, Geometry, and allhandicrafts absolutely. He giveth true and full answers unto thydemands. He maketh one Invincible. He showeth the place whereTreasures lie, and guardeth it. He, amongst the Legions of AMAYMONgoverneth 72 Legions of Spirits Inferior. His Seal is this which thoumust wear as a Lamen upon thy breast, etc.


The Thirty-third Spirit is GäapGäapGäapGäapGäap. He is a Great President and aMighty Prince. He appeareth when the Sun is in some of theSouthern Signs, in a Human Shape, going before Four Greatand Mighty Kings, as if he were a Guide to conduct themalong on their way. His Office is to make men Insensible orIgnorant; as also in Philosophy to make them Knowing, andin all the Liberal Sciences. He can cause Love or Hatred, alsohe can teach thee to consecrate those things that belong tothe Dominion of Amaymon his King. He can deliver Familiarsout of the Custody of other Magicians, and answereth trulyand perfectly of things Past, Present, and to Come. He cancarry and re-carry men very speedily from one Kingdom toanother, at theWill and Pleasure of the Exorcist. He ruleth over66 Legions of Spirits, and he was of the Order of Potentates.His Seal is this to be made and to be worn as aforesaid, etc.


The Thirty-fourth Spirit is FFFFFurfururfururfururfururfur. He is aGreat and Mighty Earl, appearing in theForm of an Hart with a Fiery Tail. He neverspeaketh truth unless he be compelled, orbrought up within a triangle. Being therein,he will take upon himself the Form of anAngel. Being bidden, he speaketh with ahoarse voice. Also he will wittingly urgeLove between Man and Woman. He canraise Lightnings and Thunders, Blasts, andGreat Tempestuous Storms. And he givethTrue Answers both of Things Secret andDivine, if commanded. He ruleth over 26Legions of Spirits. And his Seal is this, etc.


The Thirty-fifth Spirit is MarchosiasMarchosiasMarchosiasMarchosiasMarchosias. He is aGreat and Mighty Marquis, appearing atfirst in the Form of a Wolf having Gryphon’sWings, and a Serpent’s Tail, and VomitingFire out of his mouth. But after a time, atthe command of the Exorcist he putteth onthe Shape of a Man. And he is a strongfighter. He was of the Order ofDominations. He governeth 30 Legions ofSpirits. He told his Chief, who wasSolomon, that after 1,200 years he hadhopes to return unto the Seventh Throne.And his Seal is this, to be made and wornas a Lamen, etc.


The Thirty-sixth Spirit is StolasStolasStolasStolasStolas, or StolosStolosStolosStolosStolos.He is a Great and Powerful Prince,appearing in the Shape of a Mighty Ravenat first before the Exorcist; but after hetaketh the image of a Man. He teacheththe Art of Astronomy, and the Virtues ofHerbs and Precious Stones. He governeth26 Legions of Spirits; and his Seal is this,which is, etc.


The Thirty-seventh Spirit is Phenex Phenex Phenex Phenex Phenex (orPheynix). He is a Great Marquis, andappeareth like the Bird Phcenix, having theVoice of a Child. He singeth many sweet notesbefore the Exorcist, which he must not regard,but by-and-by he must bid him put on HumanShape. Then will he speak marvellously ofall wonderful Sciences if required. He is aPoet, good and excellent. And he will bewilling to perform thy requests. He hath hopesalso to return to the Seventh Throne afterI,200 years more, as he said unto Solomon.He governeth 20 Legions of Spirits. And hisSeal is this, which wear thou, etc.


The Thirty-eighth Spirit is HalphasHalphasHalphasHalphasHalphas, orMalthus Malthus Malthus Malthus Malthus (or Malthas). He is a Great Earl,and appeareth in the Form of a Stock-Dove. He speaketh with a hoarse Voice.His Office is to build up Towers, and tofurnish them with Ammunition andWeapons, and to send Men-of-War toplaces appointed. He ruleth over 26Legions of Spirits, and his Seal is this, etc.


The Thirty-ninth Spirit is MalphasMalphasMalphasMalphasMalphas. Heappeareth at first like a Crow, but after hewill put on Human Shape at the request ofthe Exorcist, and speak with a hoarse Voice.He is a Mighty President and Powerful. Hecan build Houses and High Towers, andcan bring to thy Knowledge Enemies’Desires and Thoughts, and that which theyhave done. He giveth Good Familiars. Ifthou makest a Sacrifice unto him he willreceive it kindly and willingly, but he willdeceive him that doth it. He governeth 40Legions of Spirits, and his Seal is this, etc.


The Fortieth Spirit is RäumRäumRäumRäumRäum. He is a GreatEarl; and appeareth at first in the Form ofa Crow, but after the Command of theExorcist he putteth on Human Shape. Hisoffice is to steal Treasures out King’sHouses, and to carry it whither he iscommanded, and to destroy Cities andDignities of Men, and to tell all things, Past,and what Is, and what Will Be; and to causeLove between Friends and Foes. He was ofthe Order of Thrones. He governeth 30Legions of Spirits; and his Seal is this, whichwear thou as aforesaid.


The Forty-first Spirit is FFFFFocalorocalorocalorocalorocalor, or FFFFForcalororcalororcalororcalororcalor,or FFFFFurcalorurcalorurcalorurcalorurcalor. He is a Mighty Duke andStrong. He appeareth in the Form of a Manwith Gryphon’s Wings. His office is to slayMen, and to drown them in the Waters,and to overthrow Ships of War, for he hathPower over both Winds and Seas; but hewill not hurt any man or thing if he becommanded to the contrary by the Exorcist.He also hath hopes to return to the SeventhThrone after 1,000 years. He governeth30 Legions of Spirits, and his Seal is this,etc.


The Forty-second Spirit is VVVVVepareparepareparepar, or VVVVVepharepharepharepharephar.He is a Duke Great and Strong, andappeareth like a Mermaid. His office is to build highTowers, Castles and Cities, and to furnishthem with Armour, etc. Also he can afflictMen for many days with Wounds and withSores rotten and full of Worms. He givethGood Familiars at the request of theExorcist. He commandeth 50 Legions ofSpirits; and his Seal is this, etc.


The Forty-fourth Spirit is ShaxShaxShaxShaxShax, or Shaz Shaz Shaz Shaz Shaz (orShass). He is a Great Marquis and appearethin the Form of a Stock-Dove, speaking with avoice hoarse, but yet subtle. His Office is totake away the Sight, Hearing, orUnderstanding of any Man or Woman at thecommand of the Exorcist; and to steal moneyout of the houses of Kings, and to carry it againin I,200 years. If commanded he will fetchHorses at the request of the Exorcist, or anyother thing. But he must first be commandedinto a Triangle or else he will deceive him, andtell him many Lies. He can discover all thingsthat are Hidden, and not kept by Wicked Spirits.He giveth good Familiars, sometimes. Hegoverneth 30 Legions of Spirits, and his Sealis this, etc.

He isa Great King, and an Earl; and appearethin the Form of a Lion, riding upon a BlackHorse, and bearing a Viper in his hand.His Office is to discover Things Hidden,Witches, Wizards, and Things Present, Past,and to Come. He, at the command of theExorcist will build Towers, overthrow GreatStone Walls, and make the Waters roughwith Storms. He governeth 36 Legions ofSpirits. And his Seal is this, which wear thou,as aforesaid, etc.


The Forty-sixth Spirit is called BifronsBifronsBifronsBifronsBifrons, orBifröusBifröusBifröusBifröusBifröus, or BifrovsBifrovsBifrovsBifrovsBifrovs. He is an Earl, andappeareth in the Form of a Monster; but aftera while, at the Command of the Exorcist, heputteth on the shape of a Man. His Office isto make one knowing in Astrology, Geometry,and other Arts and Sciences. He teacheth theVirtues of Precious Stones and Woods. Hechangeth Dead Bodies, and putteth them inanother place; also he lighteth seemingCandles upon the Graves of the Dead. Hehath under his Command 60 Legions ofSpirits. He is a Duke, Great, Mighty, andStrong; and appeareth in the Form of a MightyDromedary at the first, but after a while at theCommand of the Exorcist he putteth onHuman Shape, and speaketh the EgyptianTongue, but not perfectly. His Office is toprocure the Love of Women, and to tell ThingsPast, Present, and to Come. He also procurethFriendship between Friends and Foes. He wasof the Order of Potestates or Powers. Hegoverneth 37 Legions of Spirits, and his Sealis this, to be made and worn before thee, etc.


The Forty-eighth Spirit is HaagentiHaagentiHaagentiHaagentiHaagenti. He is aPresident, appearing in the Form of aMighty Bull with Gryphon’s Wings. This isat first, but after, at the Command of theExorcist he putteth on Human Shape. HisOffice is to make Men wise, and to instructthem in divers things; also to Transmuteall Metals into Gold; and to change Wineinto Water, and Water into Wine. Hegoverneth 33 Legions of Spirits, and hisSeal is this, etc.


The Forty-ninth Spirit is CrocellCrocellCrocellCrocellCrocell, or CrokelCrokelCrokelCrokelCrokel.He appeareth in the Form of an Angel. Heis a Duke Great and Strong, speakingsomething Mystically of Hidden Things. Heteacheth the Art of Geometry and theLiberal Sciences. He, at the Command ofthe Exorcist, will produce Great Noises likethe Rushings of many Waters, althoughthere be none. He warmeth Waters, anddiscovereth Baths. He was of the Order ofPotestates, or Powers, before his fall, as hedeclared unto the King Solomon. Hegoverneth 48 Legions of Spirits. His Seal isthis, the which wear thou as aforesaid.


The Fiftieth Spirit is FFFFFurcasurcasurcasurcasurcas. He is a Knight,and appeareth in the Form of a Cruel OldMan with a long Beard and a hoary Head,riding upon a pale-coloured Horse, with aSharp Weapon in his hand. His Office is toteach the Arts of Philosophy, Astrology,Rhetoric, Logic, Cheiromancy, andPyromancy, in all their parts, and perfectly.He hath under his Power 20 Legions ofSpirits. The Fifty-first Spirit is Balam Balam Balam Balam Balam or BalaamBalaamBalaamBalaamBalaam.He is a Terrible, Great, and Powerful King.He appeareth with three Heads: the first islike that of a Bull; the second is like that ofa Man; the third is like that of a Ram. Hehath the Tail of a Serpent, and FlamingEyes. He rideth upon a furious Bear, andcarrieth a Goshawk upon his Fist. Hespeaketh with a hoarse Voice, giving TrueAnswers of Things Past, Present, and toCome. He maketh men to go Invisible, andalso to be Witty. He governeth 40 Legionsof Spirits. His Seal is this, etc.


The Fifty-second Spirit is AllocesAllocesAllocesAllocesAlloces, or AlocasAlocasAlocasAlocasAlocas.He is a Duke, Great, Mighty, and Strong,appearing in the Form of a Soldier (orWarrior) riding upon a Great Horse. HisFace is like that of a Lion, very Red, andhaving Flaming Eyes. His Speech is hoarseand very big. His Office is to teach the Artof Astronomy, and all the Liberal Sciences.He bringeth unto thee Good Familiars; alsohe ruleth over 36 Legions of Spirits. HisSeal is this, which, etc.


The Fifty-third Spirit is CamioCamioCamioCamioCamio, or CaïmCaïmCaïmCaïmCaïm. He isa Great President, and appeareth in the Formof the Bird called a Thrush at first, butafterwards he putteth on the Shape of a Mancarrying in his Hand a Sharp Sword. Heseemeth to answer in Burning Ashes, or inCoals of Fire. He is a Good Disputer. His Officeis to give unto Men the Understanding of allBirds, Lowing of Bullocks, Barking of Dogs, andother Creatures; and also of the Voice of theWaters. He giveth True Answers of Things toCome. He was of the Order of Angels, butnow ruleth over 30 Legions of Spirits Infernal.His Seal is this, which wear thou, etc.


The Fifty-fourth Spirit is called MurmurMurmurMurmurMurmurMurmur, orMurmus, or Murmux. He is a Great Duke,and an Earl; and appeareth in the Form ofa Warrior riding upon a Gryphon, with aDucal Crown upon his Head. There do gobefore him those his Ministers with greatTrumpets sounding. His Office is to teachPhilosophy perfectly, and to constrain SoulsDeceased to come before the Exorcist toanswer those questions which he may wishto put to them, if desired. He is a Greatand Mighty Prince, appearing at first like aHorse; but after the command of theExorcist he putteth on the Image of a Man.His Of fice is to discover all things Past,Present, and to Come; also to giveDignities, and Prelacies, and the Favour ofFriends and of Foes. His Office is to tell of all ThingsPast, Present, and to Come; and ofTreasures Hid, and what they lie in; and toprocure the Love of Women both Youngand Old. He governeth 26 Legions ofSpirits, and his Seal is this, etc.


The Fifty-seventh Spirit is OsoOsoOsoOsoOso, OséOséOséOséOsé, orVVVVVosoosoosoosooso. He is a Great President, andappeareth like a Leopard at the first, butafter a little time he putteth on the Shapeof a Man. His Office is to make onecunning in the Liberal Sciences, and to giveTrue Answers of Divine and Secret Things;also to change a Man into any Shape thatthe Exorcist pleaseth, so that he that is sochanged will not think any other thing thanthat he is in verity that Creature or Thinghe is changed into. Heis a Great President, and appeareth at firstin the Form of a Flaming Fire; but after awhile he putteth on the Shape of a Man.His office is to make one WonderfulKnowing in Astrology and all the LiberalSciences. The Sixtieth Spirit is VVVVVapulaapulaapulaapulaapula, or NaphulaNaphulaNaphulaNaphulaNaphula.He is a Duke Great, Mighty, and Strong;appearing in the Form of a Lion withGryphon’s Wings. His Office is to makeMen Knowing in all Handicrafts andProfessions, also in Philosophy, and otherSciences. The Sixty-first Spirit is ZaganZaganZaganZaganZagan. He is a GreatKing and President, appearing at first inthe Form of a Bull with Gryphon’s Wings *but after a while he putteth on HumanShape. He maketh Men Witty. He can turnWine into Water, and Blood into Wine, alsoWater into Wine. He can turn all Metalsinto Coin of the Dominion that Metal is of.He can even make Fools Wise. Hegoverneth 33 Legions of Spirits, and hisSeal is this, etc.

He is a President Mighty andGreat, and appeareth like a Child withAngel’s Wings, riding on a Two-headedDragon. His Oflice is to give True Answersof Hidden Treasures, and to tell whereSerpents may be seen. The which he willbring unto the Exorciser without any Forceor Strength being by him employed. Hegoverneth 38 Legions of Spirits, and hisSeal is thus.


The Sixty-third Spirit is AndrasAndrasAndrasAndrasAndras. He is a GreatMarquis, appearing in the Form of anAngel with a Head like a Black NightRaven, riding upon a strong Black Wolf,and having a Sharp and Bright Swordflourished aloft in his hand. His Office isto sow Discords. If the Exorcist have not acare, he will slay both him and his fellows.He governeth 30 Legions of Spirits, andthis is his Seal, etc.

But if he be not commandedinto a Triangle, A, he will Lie in all these Things, and deceive andbeguile the Exorcist in these things or in such and such business.He will, lastly, talk of the Creation of the World, and of Divinity,and of how he and other Spirits fell. He destroyeth and burneth upthose who be the Enemies of the Exorcist should he so desire it;also he will not suffer him to be tempted by any other Spirit orotherwise. Butafter a time he putteth on Human shape.He can teach Geometry perfectly. Hemaketh Men very subtle therein; and in allThings pertaining unto Mensuration orAstronomy. He can transform a Man intothe Likeness of a Bird. He governeth 30Legions of Infernal Spirits, and his Seal isthis, etc.

He is a Marquis, Mighty, Great,Strong and Powerful, appearing like aValiant Warrior riding upon a goodly BlackHorse. He ruleth over all Spirits in the partsof Africa. His Office is to teach perfectlyGrammar, Logic, Rhetoric, and to discoverthings Lost or Hidden, and Treasures. Hegoverneth 20 Legions of Infernals; and hisSeal is this, etc.


The Sixty-seventh Spirit is AmdusiasAmdusiasAmdusiasAmdusiasAmdusias, orAmdukiasAmdukiasAmdukiasAmdukiasAmdukias. He is a Duke Great and Strong,appearing at first like a Unicorn, but atthe request of the Exorcist he standethbefore him in Human Shape, causingTrumpets, and all manner of Musical Instruments to be heard, but not soon orimmediately. Also he can cause Trees tobend and incline according to the Exorcist’sWill. He giveth Excellent Familiars. Hegoverneth 29 Legions of Spirits. And hisSeal is this, etc.


The Sixty-eighth Spirit is BelialBelialBelialBelialBelial. He is a Mighty and a PowerfulKing, and was created next after LUCIFER. He appeareth inthe Form of Two Beautiful Angels sitting in a Chariot of Fire.He speaketh with a Comely Voice, and declareth that hefell first from among the worthier sort, that were beforeMichael, and other Heavenly Angels. His Office is todistribute Presentations and Senatorships, etc., and to causefavour of Friends and of Foes. He giveth excellent Familiars,and governeth 80 Legions of Spirits. Note well that this KingBelial must have Offerings, Sacrifices and Gifts presentedunto him by the Exorcist, or else he will not give True Answersunto his Demands. But then he tarrieth not one hour in theTruth, unless he be constrained by Divine Power. And hisSeal is this, which is to be worn as aforesaid, etc.


The Sixty-ninth Spirit is DecarabiaDecarabiaDecarabiaDecarabiaDecarabia. Heappeareth in the Form of a Star in aPentacle, *, at first; but after, at thecommand of the Exorcist, he putteth on theImage of a Man. His Office is to discoverthe Virtues of Birds and Precious Stones,and to make the Similitude of all kinds ofBirds to fly before the Exorcist, singing anddrinking as natural Birds do. He governeth30 Legions of Spirits, being himself a GreatMarquis. And this is his Seal, which is tobe worn, etc.


The Seventieth Spirit is SeereSeereSeereSeereSeere, SearSearSearSearSear, or SeirSeirSeirSeirSeir. He is aMighty Prince, and Powerful, under AMAYMON, Kingof the East. He appeareth in the Form of a BeautifulMan, riding upon a Winged Horse. His Office is togo and come; and to bring abundance of things topass on a sudden, and to carry or re-carry anythingwhither thou wouldest have it to go, or whence thouwouldest have it from. He can pass over the wholeEarth in the twinkling of an Eye. He giveth a Truerelation of all sorts of Theft, and of Treasure hid,and of many other things. He is of an indifferentGood Nature, and is willing to do anything whichthe Exorcist desireth. He governeth 26 Legions ofSpirits. And this his Seal is to be worn, etc.

He is aDuke Great and Mighty, appearing in the Formof a Man with many Countenances, all Men’sand Women’s Faces; and he hath a Book inhis right hand. His Office is to teach all Artsand Sciences unto any; and to declare theSecret Counsels of any one; for he knoweththe Thoughts of all Men and Women, and canchange them at his Will. He can cause Love,and show the Similitude of any person, andshow the same by a Vision, let them be in whatpart of the World they Will. He governeth 36Legions of Spirits; and this is his Seal, whichwear thou, etc.

He ruleth over 36Legions of Spirits. His Seal is this, the whichwear thou as aforesaid, etc.
