My Favorite Places in Yongchongdo Island, South KoreaYoungchong island Korea where the Airport is located has lots of things to do besides of course the airport.

Bekuensan MountainOne of my favorite places is Bekuensan Mountain. This mountain dominates the island and there are trails to the top from many parts of the island. It is about 10 kilometers from the airport. Coming from Seoul or Incheon you can take the Airport railroad and get off at Unseo Station, three stops from the airport. From the station exit the station via exit A and walk right, then turn right again and you will find the trail head down the street. There are multiple paths to the top. It should take about an hour to reach the top. The views are spectacular.

Yonggungsa and Yaksuam TemplesFrom the top of Bekuensan you can walk down to Yonggungsa Temple, and Yaksuam Temples. These temples are over 1,000 years old and are very tranquil places to visit.

BekrangsanAnother nice hike in Youngchangdo is Bekrangsan mountain. From Unseo station go out exit A and turn right and across the street you will see a road leading up the hill. Follow the road and you will run into the trail head. It is a short walk to the top where there are fine views and a nice gazebo. From there you can walk down to the entrance of the World Peace Forrest

World Peace ForrestNot far from the island, is the famous Eulwangri Beach, which is the closest beach to Incheon City. Also known as Eul Wang Li Beach, this beach is actually found on Yongyu Island, but because of the reclaimed land that combined the three islands of Yeongjong, Yongyu and Sammok, the Eulwangri Beach is easily accessible from the Yeongjong Island.Right smack in the center of the island is Mt. Bekuensan, which is known to the locals as a lovely mountain with great hiking trails. Upon reaching the top of the mountain, visitors claim that here lies the best view of the Incheon International Airport and its departing and arriving aircrafts. For those who would rather stay in the comforts of their car, several highways circle around the mountain to the reach the top. Take note that the Yeongjong Island is also home to the Mt. Baekunsan Gliding Range and where people can discover basic flying skills to drive small and light planes.On top of the mountain also lies the Yonggungsa Temple. This old temple is still visited by many devotees to date. Travelers will find the exceptional zelkova tree, which is more than 1,300 years old, a nice touch to the tranquility that the temple brings. Another astonishing temple found on the island is the Yaksuam Temple. A visit to either of the temples provides a sense of calmness, especially when you add the fact that both temples are surrounded by nothing but the beauty of nature high on the mountain top.
