This weekend we pray in a special way for

travellers, especially those on the road. Pope

Benedict said, “For countries in the northern

hemisphere the end of June marks the

beginning of the summer season and, for

many, the beginning of vacations. I hope that

everyone will be able to live serenely a few

days of well-earned rest and relaxation and I

would like to address an appeal for prudence

to those who are setting out for their various

vacation sites. Every day, unfortunately,

especially on the weekend, road accidents are

recorded with so many human lives tragically

cut short, and more than half the victims are

young people. In recent years much has been

done to prevent these tragic events but more

can and must be done, with the contribution

and involvement of all. It is necessary to

combat distraction and superficiality which, in

an instant, can ruin one's own future and that

of others. Life is precious and unique: it must

always be respected and protected, also by

proper and careful conduct on the roads. May

the Virgin Mary, who accompanies us on our

daily journey through life, watch over

travellers and obtain mercy for road victims”

It is a sobering reminder of the need to pray

for road safety and for safe journeys: We pray

for all those who use our roads for work or for

leisure, in all forms of road transport, and for

all pedestrians who traverse our carriage ways,

so that all of us may be alert to our

responsibilities one to another.

Why not come along a join forces with like minded

women at our Ladies Only 5K Midnight Walk which brings our community of women together

whilst raising the much needed funds and awareness

for all those in need of our care here at the Hospice. The countdown is on to this year's annual St

the walk itself begins at Midnight. Fun and fancy headwear is available to purchase on the night of the

event with all proceeds going to the Hospice.

This will be our third Midnight Walk, with the route along the A82 between the Great Western Retail

will then enjoy a presentation ceremony and

barbecue at 1am. Entry is open to ladies' only and participants MUST register beforehand. Children

aged 6-16 may enter if accompanied by an adult. There is a £15 entry fee (£5 per child), which
