God doesn’t forget those who serve the saints

And whoever gives one of these little ones even a cup of cold water because he is a disciple,

truly, I say to you, he will by no means lose his reward.” (Matthew 10:42 ESV)

And the King will answer them, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my

brothers, you did it to me.’ (Matthew 25:40 ESV)

God doesn’t forget those who serve the saints

But recall the former days when, after you were enlightened, you endured a hard struggle with

sufferings, sometimes being publicly exposed to reproach and affliction, and sometimes being

partners with those so treated. For you had compassion on those in prison, and you joyfully accepted the plundering of your property, since

you knew that you yourselves had a better possession and an abiding one.

(Hebrews 10:32-34 ESV)

God doesn’t forget those who serve the saints

If anyone says, “I love God,” and hates his brother, he is a liar; for he who does not love his

brother whom he has seen cannot love God whom he has not seen. And this commandment

we have from him: whoever loves God must also love his brother. (1 John 4:20-21 ESV)

It is a demonstration of the love of God

God promises an inheritance

• Abraham is evidence the God’s promises are good

• Inheritance is sure by 2 unchangeable

things– God’s promise– and His oath

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to his

great mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope

through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to an inheritance

that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for you,

(1 Peter 1:3-4 ESV)

God promises an inheritance

This inheritance comes with diligence, faith, and patience

We’re given hope as an anchor

Desire + expectation = Hope

…remember that you were at that time separated from Christ, alienated from

the commonwealth of Israel and strangers to the covenants of promise, having no hope and without God in the

world. (Ephesians 2:12 ESV)

Gentiles…had been without hope!

We’re given hope as an anchor

Desire + expectation = Hope

And if Christ has not been raised, then our preaching is in vain and your faith is in vain.

And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile and you are still in your sins.

If in Christ we have hope in this life only, we are of all people most to be pitied.

(1 Corinthians 15:14, 17, 19 ESV)

We’re given hope as an anchor

Desire + expectation = HopeJesus IS our hope

Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus by command of God our Savior and of Christ

Jesus our hope, (1 Timothy 1:1 ESV)

And again Isaiah says, “The root of Jesse will come, even he who arises to rule

the Gentiles; in him will the Gentiles hope.”(Romans 15:12 ESV)

Desire + expectation = HopeJesus IS our hope

There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in

Christ Jesus. (Romans 8:1 ESV)

Given Jesus as our Forerunner

• Goes behind the veil as a high priest

• Goes as a high priest after a different order

But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light. (1 Peter 2:9 ESV)

Given Jesus as our Forerunner

• Goes behind the veil as a high priest

• Goes as a high priest after a different order

• Goes as a high priest “forever”

What should have made the Hebrews steadfast should make us

the same way

• God doesn’t forget His servants• He has promised an inheiritance• He has sent Jesus as our hope/anchor• Jesus has become our forerunner

Do these mean anything to us?
