Your association with Honda, and how Honda philosophy has enriched your professional life.

I entered Honda in 1989 almost 30 years ago and started my career with Spec Control Department in

Suzuka, Japan. Later I moved to Sales Department at Tokyo Headquarters. I also worked at Mexico for 8

years and after returning from Mexico, I joined Honda Thailand Automobile Company and now I am in India.

Regarding Honda Philosophies, hundreds of Philosophies are there stated by our founder. One philosophy

which has influenced me the most is Power of Dreams – if we are passionate enough to attain our goals

instead of only discussing the problems we can divert our attention to solutions and find ways to overcome

the obstacles and achieve our dreams and realize our dreams.

Your views about the automobile industry in India and prospects of Honda Cars.

I am excited to work and explore more about rapidly growing market as per data. This year Automobile

market in India will be around 4 Million and it will be the fourth biggest market in the world overtaking

Germany. Indian market is likely to grow at a fast pace and this number is going to increase every year.

Regarding Honda Cars India, 172K cars were sold last year and this year’s target is 190K. Currently our

production capacity is at a level where we can strive for 300K.

Your expectations from the Suppliers, to enable Honda to achieve its plans in India.

I expect honest and sincere communication from all suppliers. We are one team and we should always keep

this in mind. We are like strong partners, so if suppliers want to make any suggestion or advice regarding

quality, cost or manufacturing, they are more than welcome to do so because that will make Honda

stronger.

Things you love about India and what are the things that you would like to see changed.

India is a land of diversity. It has so many different languages, almost in Hundreds, with a 1.3 billion

population. It is culturally a very rich country. India’s economic growth is dynamic as compared to other

countries of the world like US, Japan & Europe. Apart from this, there are some little but very important

issues which can be improved like traffic jam, Hygiene issues and stable electricity supply etc.

Please also share your message to Supplier partners and other readers of Engage.

Whenever I work, I always keep 4 words in mind :

1. SHI : Refers to audacious goal of having a very high target.

2. TAI : To have lot of Patience to achieve such Goals.

3. SEI : Sincerity & Honesty should be there all throughout business dealing.

4. MEI : Ownership. One should always be ready to take ownership & responsibility of his actions

Lastly, I want to work with you closely to establish excellent Honda brand in India and strengthen our

business partnership.
