The use of microwave technology in medical, industrial & scientific applications is constantly advancing, with cost-effective solid state generators a growing necessity.
APPLICATIONS
Emblation has developed safesweep® - an innovative reflected power measurement mode of operation, that is included as standard within the ISYS800.
When used in this [swept] mode, the system has the capability to reduce the reflection measurement error significantly where the input match of the device under test is non-optimal.
As an example, for a device with an input match of -12dB connected to the system at a distance in excess of 1m, an improvement of approximately 75% in measurement error is easily achievable thereby reducing the overall uncertainty in the measurement.
This mode of operation is particularly useful for applications that are dependent upon the accuracy of reflected signal to identify material properties or relaying test progress and safety.
ADVANCED REFLECTION MEASUREMENT SYSTEM
The ISYS800’s design has allowed the implementation of a novel, thermal cooling solution to dissipate heat losses and maintain temperature stability at less than 35 degrees Celsius over ambient, when operating at full power.
The cooling system employed is very compact with superior thermal capacity per unit volume allowing the overall system to be significantly smaller and lighter with an optimised air-flow management system.
SUPERIOR COOLING
External communication is available via a simple parallel data communication interface, when used in [external I/O] mode – supplied as standard.
Also available to ISYS800 customers is Emblation’s external USB accessory. This external module allows users to control the ISYS800 remotely via PC or laptop, and includes full system control and comprehensive data logging capability. All communication software will be provided with the USB module, and software can also be fully customized to specific application requirements – adding further to the flexibility of the ISYS800.
EXTERNAL CONTROL
The microwave generator uses GaAs solid-state technology operating in class A/B mode to generate microwave power in excess of 20W (regulated).
In this mode and also [swept] mode, the output power can be varied in 5W increments from 0-20W using pulse width modulation (PWM) techniques with power stability maintained within 5% of the set value.
