Faith to Move Mountains is a $75 million Diocesan-wide

endowment campaign that will secure the resources needed

to enable our Church to flourish for generations to come.

Unlike the Annual Catholic Appeal, which addresses the

day-to-day operating expenses of the Diocese, this cam-

paign will establish endowments to respond to critical long

-term needs and serve as a permanent and self-

sustaining source of financial stability for the Diocese.

Once established, the funds will continue to grow through

the reinvestment of interest and earnings, as well as addi-

tional gifts. Through this, the endowments will provide

support for the following needs in perpetuity:

Our Parishes: $30 million

Ordained Ministry: $20 million

Catholic Schools: $15 million

Social Services: $5 million

Catechesis and evangelization: $5 million

In addition, 30% of the campaign funds that we raise

toward our parish goal will be directed back to our parish

for our local parish needs. We will use our share of funds

for various projects including upgrade of the Lower

Church, parking lot repairs, repairs of the mosaic and

stained glass windows in the Upper Church, defibrillator

equipment, restroom renovations, I/T and security equip-

ment purchases, and other uses.

In the coming weeks, we will share further details about the

campaign with all of you. It is our hope that the entire

community will join together and participate in this ex-

traordinary effort for our parish. Thank you for your con-

tinued prayers and support.

Thursday Evening Advent Masses

Thursday, December 15 7:00 p.m.

Thursday, December 22 7:00 p.m.

In conjunction with this weekend’s Retirement Collec-

tion, please consider the following:

First, please pray with and for religious women and

men, that we may be faithful witnesses of God’s

presence and love.

Second, have you ever encouraged a young man or

woman to consider religious life? For someone

God invites, this is a wonderful way of life. A word

of encouragement may be all that’s needed for a

young person to take God’s invitation seriously.

Next, please consider a contribution to the Retire-

ment Collection. Even a small gift will not only

help to support retired members, but also help give

active members the freedom to serve God’s people

where they are most needed.

Finally, in this season for Christmas cards and

memories, I invite you to call, email or write to a

priest, brother, or sister who has influenced your

life. A word of encouragement is a prized gift for

anyone. To be told that they have made a differ-

ence is perhaps the greatest gift a retired person can

receive.

Thank you for the witness of your lives of fidelity and

may Advent bring you blessings.

Religious Retirement

Collection

Dec. 10 & 11

This weekend we will have a special second collection

for retired Catholic sisters, nuns, brothers, and religious

order priests. This collection is part of an annual nation-

al appeal and will be taken up at all parishes in the Dio-

cese of Trenton. Proceeds of the collection help meet

retirement expenses and the costs of prescription medi-

cations and nursing care. Many religious communities

lack adequate financial resources for retirement and el-

der care. The following is adapted from a recent “for-the

-Sunday-bulletin” letter written by Sister Patricia Kelly,

SSJ for a parish in the Philadelphia Archdiocese in con-

nection with this special collection.

PATHWAY TO HEAL Divorced, Widowed, and Separated Group

You out lived the turkey, stuffing, and all the pies ! Now, take and make time for yourself. Enjoy a cup of warm apple cider. You are important. You are valued. Make your needs a priority for once. If you are not centered, nourished, and healthy, life will not fulfill your needs and achieving what you deserve will be more difficult than necessary. This is not selfish act. It is an act of kindness to oneself. It is appropriate and ok to speak up for ourselves, to put what you deserve on record. If you do not it may hamper our relationships; cause resentments and frustrations and harm our own health. Intimacy with others can only grow when all involved are happy and content people. Setting boundaries is required. These boundaries are to better our own life’s qualities. Taking care of ourselves can lead to a change in how you feel and your outlook. A change will happen

in our life for the better. Remember, to also listen to the needs of others, too. This time of the year may be challenging. Coping skills may include distracting yourself by helping others, do something kind for others and yourself. Reach out to those you have lost track of. Create new traditions and allow yourself to be happy. Norman Rockwell images were not always reality. Just get through each day. Read a new book. Watch an old movie. Remember the holidays, it will be over soon. And you have created new memories. Sharing and giving back can be a joyous experience. “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will

find; knock, and it will be opened to you.” Matthew 7:7

I learned a long time ago the wisest thing I can do is be on my own side, be an advocate for myself and

others like me. Maya Angelou

I take a lot of pride in being myself. I'm comfortable

with who I am. James McAvoy

I have looked in the mirror every morning and asked myself: 'If today were the last day of my life, would I

want to do what I am about to do today?' And whenever the answer has been 'No' for too many

days in a row, I know I need to change something. Steve Jobs
