Enclosure mounting procedure:1. Measure and mark the mounting

locations from the anchor holes on the bottom of the unit (see Fig. 1 and Fig. 2). Ensure that there are at least 4" between the wall and the nearest mounting hole.

2. Using a hammer drill and a ½" masonry bit, drill a hole 2 ½" deep.

3. Clean the hole using compressed air and/or a vacuum.

4. Place the enclosure so the mounting holes line up with the holes in the floor.

5. Remove the nut and small washer from the anchor assembly, and install the 3/8" x 1-1/4" OD washer to the assembly as shown in the inset in Figure 3.

6. Insert the anchors into the holes (make sure the nuts are just below the top of the stud).7. Finger tighten all of the nuts.8. Once snug, use a wrench to finish tightening the anchors (approximately 2-4 full turns, or 50-60 ft-lb). Be careful

not to over tighten.

Conduit connection:The IBE-1 and IBE-2 come supplied with a 1-1/2" reducing washer for connecting conduit to the enclosure.

1-1/2" conduit will support the use of electrical wire up to 2/0 in size. Proper wiring sizing is essential for safe and problem free operation of battery charging. Consult your OutBack distributor/installer or certified electrician for proper wire sizing.

Standard Installation Optional Assembly with Anti-tip Plate

Anti-tip plate mounting procedure:Use at least one other person for assistance with this procedure.1. Place the enclosure on its side.2. Place blocks under the enclosure to raise the enclosure at least 3" off the

ground, see Fig. 5. Ensure the enclosure is resting levelly .3. Align the mounting holes in the anti-tip plate with the mounting holes

on the bottom of the enclosure (orient the anti-tip plate handle to the front of the enclosure, as shown in Figure 6).

4. Insert the flat head screws through the bottom of the anti-tip plate.5. From inside the enclosure, attach the flat washer, lock washer, and nut to

each screw. Finger tighten all of the nuts.6. Use the ⁹⁄₁₆" socket wrench and screw driver to finish tightening the nuts.7. Stand the enclosure upright.

CAUTION: Personal Injury• The anti-tip plate is heavy. Use caution when attaching the anti-tip plate to the enclosure.• Wear gloves while assembling or moving the anti-tip plate. Sheet metal edges are sharp

and may lacerate unprotected skin.• Use proper lifting techniques.• Use at least one other person for assistance when installing the anti-tip plate.

Plate

CAUTION: Personal Injury• Always mount the IBE using either the sleeve anchors or the anti-tip plate. Failure to

properly mount the IBE may result in tipping and personal injury.

WARNING: Electrical Hazard• Under sizing wire in electrical applications increases the risk of short circuits and fire. Installa-

tions should always be performed by an OutBack Installer or a certified electrician.

Battery installation procedure:1. Unlatch and slide the battery tray out to the stops. DO NOT install or remove batteries in both trays

simultaneously, as this may result in the enclosure tipping, severe personal injury and equipment damage.2. Position the batteries as shown in Fig. 9 (for IBE-1) or Fig. 11 (for IBE-2).3. Wire the batteries in accordance with Fig. 10 (for IBE-1) or Fig. 12 (for IBE-2). 4. Make all battery terminal connections per Fig. 7 and 8 below (offset lugs so hardware seats properly). Torque

all the terminal connections to the manufacturer's specifications.5. Apply corrosion inhibitor to the terminals and connections.6. Unlatch and slide the tray evenly into the enclosure. The battery drawer slides may be damaged if the drawer

is forced into the enclosure while the slide latch is engaged.

WARNING: Serious Personal InjuryBattery systems contain DANGEROUS VOLTAGES and individual batteries are HEAVY. Observe the following precautions to reduce the risk of electrical shock or other injury:• Complete the procedure of fastening the battery enclosure to the floor or installing the anti-tip

plate BEFORE installing batteries in the enclosure.• Never slide both battery trays out or have both trays extended simultaneously. • Remove all personal metal objects (watches, rings, etc.).• Always use insulated tools.• Wear eye protection and rubber gloves.• Never rest tools on top of batteries or other electrical parts.• Observe circuit polarities.• Do not connect any equipment until all battery wiring has been properly completed and tested.

NOTICE: Additional Equipment Information• Please review EnergyCell RE battery manual for best safety practices. Charge current should

be limited according to the battery manufacturer's specifications. For further details contact a battery sales representative.
