An IPR Special Lecture was organised on 6th
of November 2019 and Dr. Padma Satish,
Chief Technology Officer, IIT Bombay
delivered a lecture on "Management of IP in
Academia : AN enabler for bridging the gap
between innovation and commercialization".
Dr. Padma shared the practices of IP filing
and management in IIT Bombay. The event
witnessed a great participation from the
students and faculty members. The student
and faculty inventors were felicitated during
the IPR special lecture. TTG students
managed this lecture.
Student inventors were felicitated by
awarding "certificate of student invention"
for fling patent from their B.Tech/M.Tech
project works. This year a total of 10
students have received the award.
The Faculty inventors were felicitated for
their granted patents. This year a total of 11
IPs have been granted (details given on page
2-3). Four inventors/authors were given the
granted patent/ registered copyright
certificates during the IPR special lecture.

An IPR Workshop was organized on 28th
September 2019 by the Technology
Transfer Group on the behalf of IPR & IR
Cell, guided by Professor-in-charge, Prof. C
R Raj. The workshop was aimed at the
newly joined M.Tech and Ph.D students of
the institute. More than 65 students from
various departments participated in the
workshop. Prof. M. Padmavati, Dean
RGSOIPL, Prof.S.Matilal, RGSOIPL and Prof.
Tapas Kumar Bandyopadhaya, Department
of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering
delivered the lectures on ‘Patents and the
patentability”, ‘Copyright vis-a-vis Patent-
The Software question’ and ‘How to
protect innovation by design’. All the three
sessions were interactive and the
participants interacted well with the
speakers and cleared their fundamental
doubts on IP filing. PIC IPR briefly
explained the patent filing procedures and IP policy of the institute and motivated the
student inventors.
