Between shopping (and the spending that goes along with it), parties, baking and travelingthe most festive time of the year can also be the most dizzying. But there is another (cyber)stress factor that increases during the holiday seasonpersonal data theft due to online shopping. Whether you are a Baby Boomer, a Gen Xer or a Millennial, as online shopping continues to rise1, cybercriminals are out in force this holiday season.

    When all respondents were asked about the main reason that they do not shop online, 31% indicatedthat it was due to concern that their personal information would not be safe or could be stolen.

    52% of those who have ever shopped online say that a secure payment network makes them more confident, and...

    17% say a recognized security logo inspires confidence.

    As online shopping and cybercrime increasesaround the holidays, so must your vigilance.

    Be sure to change your passwords regularly, never shop on public Wi-Fi, set up card-not-present alerts, and look for HTTPS in the URL and security logos on the sites you purchase from. Finally, always check your credit card statements for any unknown charges.
