It is located on theCosta del Maresme, to the south of Costa Brava,between Cabrera de Mar and Sant Andreu deLlavaneres, to the 30 kilometres (19 miles) north-eastof Barcelona.

More than ten religious acts indifferent places of the city define Easter in Matar;it unites all the fraternities, brotherhoods and Armed(roman peace soldiers) of Matar, in one of the eventswith more followers. Each fraternity has itsprocessions in which they show their mysteries, butthere is one event, the pession of "Divendres Sant" ,that gathers them all in a single route.

  23. 23. CastellsA castell is a human tower built traditionallyin festivals at many locations withinCatalonia. At these festivals, several collescastelleres or teams often succeed in buildingand dismantling a tower's structureIn Mataro the castellers are calledcapgrossos (big-heads)
  24. 24. Matar has 2.2 km of granite sand beaches (platges)organized, from west to east, into Ponent Beach,Varador Beach, Callao Beach and Sant Sim Beach, allequipped with multiple services.
