The Board of Governors, administration, faculty and staff of Conestoga College Institute of Technology and Advanced Learning extend
a warm invitation to your family and friends to join you on this
day of celebration.
The 50th Fall Convocation Ceremony
will be held in Marshall Hall at Bingemans Conference
Centre, Kitchener
Arrival and Location: One hour before the ceremony, gather in the gowning area located in the Heritage Room at Bingemans Conference Centre.
Attire: Academic attire is provided by Conestoga and consists of a knee-length gown (no cap/mortarboard).
Personal Items: Flowers, purses, cameras and other personal items should be left with a friend or family member. If this is not possible, a place is available in the gowning area to check such items.
Length of Ceremony: The ceremony lasts approximately 1.5 - 2 hours.
Guests or Graduates with Disabilities:
Graduates may indicate their accommodation requirements related to mobility, deaf or hard of hearing, blind or low vision, or other concerns when they RSVP for convocation through the student portal.
Guests: Seating is limited and on a first-come, first-served basis. We encourage you to limit your guests to two, to avoid overcrowding.
Document: All graduation documents are mailed prior to the ceremony. Please contact the Registrar’s Office if you have not received your document.
Reception Following The CeremonyA reception will be held in the Embassy Room immediately following the ceremony. A professional photographer will be available for graduates. Gowns and liripipes for photos will be at the photography booth.
The Conestoga College Bookstore will be on-site to offer school rings, crested clothing, and memorabilia.
You can purchase a frame for your certificate, diploma or degree in the Embassy Room where the reception is taking place.
Convocation Ceremony InstructionsConvocation Registration: To be eligible to attend the ceremony, you must successfully complete all courses in your program. If you plan to attend the ceremony, you must register on your student portal, under the Services tab.
No further details will be mailed. If your plans change, or you have an inquiry about your program completion requirements, please send an email to [email protected]. Please include your name and student number.
To register your attendance, follow the Student Portal login instructions below:
1. Go to the Conestoga website at www.conestogac.on.ca
2. Click on the Student Portal button found at the top right-hand corner of the screen under the Search button.
3. Follow the login instructions – you will need your seven-digit Conestoga student I.D. number.
4. Select the Services tab.
5. To view your convocation ceremony and indicate your attendance, click on Convocation.
Note: If your plans change, you may update your attendance through the Student Portal until midnight on November 12, 2018.

Academic Awards
President’s Scholar Award
The President’s Scholar Award, an inscribed and framed Conestoga Coat of Arms, recognizes the graduating student from a four-year degree program who achieves the highest composite academic average for all courses.
Governor General’s Academic Medal
The Governor General’s Academic Medal recognizes the graduating student who achieves the highest composite academic average for all courses in a diploma program. The award is a bronze medallion commissioned by the Governor General of Canada.
Conestoga College Mastercraft Award
Established by former Conestoga President Kenneth E. Hunter, this award recognizes outstanding achievement by an individual or student team in the creation of a program-related technical project. Eligible projects must first win a program-level competition to qualify for college-wide judging. The prize consists of an inscribed and framed Conestoga Coat of Arms as well as a cash award.
Aubrey Hagar Award
The Aubrey Hagar Distinguished Teaching Award recognizes a faculty member for outstanding contribution to and/or leadership in the teaching-learning process. It honours Aubrey Hagar, a founding member of the College’s Board of Governors who also served Conestoga as Director of Academic and College Planning, and Director of Strategic Planning.
Academic RecognitionConestoga recognizes exceptional academic achievement by its students both during their studies and upon graduation. There are four categories of academic recognition upon graduation.
HonoursTo be eligible for academic recognition upon graduation, students must have completed the minimum number of courses or credits or hours of their program of study at Conestoga. The actual percentage required to be completed will vary according to the length of the program:
• Ontario College Certificate - 75% • Ontario College Graduate Certificate - 75% • Ontario College Diploma - 50% • Ontario College Advanced Diploma - 50% • Degree - 40%
President’s Honour List
Recognition awarded upon graduation to the student in each diploma, graduate certificate and degree program who obtains the highest average in the program. Students must achieve an average of 90% or greater for all courses of the program of study, with no failed courses.
• To be eligible for the President’s Honour List, students must have completed the required number of courses or credits or hours of their program of study at Conestoga (varies by length of program - see above).
• The student who achieves the President’s Honour List will receive a letter of congratulations signed by the President.
• The student will receive a Conestoga Coat of Arms.
• The recognition will be noted on the student’s official academic record and in the Convocation program.
Graduation with High Distinction
Recognition upon graduation for all students registered in diploma, graduate certificate and degree programs who achieve an average of 90% or greater for all courses of the program of study, with no failed courses.
• To be eligible for Graduation with High Distinction, students must have completed the required number of courses or credits or hours of their program of study at Conestoga (varies by length of program - see above).
• Students will receive a letter of congratulations signed by the Registrar.
• The recognition will be noted on the student’s official academic record and in the Convocation program.
Graduation with Distinction
Recognition upon graduation for all students registered in diploma, graduate certificate and degree programs who achieve an average of 80-89% in all courses of the program of study, with no failed courses.
• To be eligible for Graduation with Distinction, students must have completed the required number of courses or credits or hours of their program of study at Conestoga (varies by length of program - see above).
• Students will receive a letter of congratulations signed by the Registrar.
• The recognition will be noted on the student’s official academic record.
Conestoga Honour List
Recognition upon graduation for all students registered in Ontario College certificate and apprenticeship programs who achieve an average of 80% or greater for all courses in the program of study, or for apprentices all levels of their program, with no failed courses.
• To be eligible for the Conestoga Honour List, students must have completed the required number of courses or credits or hours of their program of study at Conestoga (varies by length of program - see above).
• Students will receive a letter of congratulations signed by the Registrar.
• The recognition will be noted on the student’s official academic record.

2018 Key Performance Indicators (KPI) SurveyAs a Conestoga graduate, you will receive a call in approximately six months from Forum Canada, a research firm contracted by the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities. This firm will collect information for the Key Performance Indicators (KPI) Graduate Satisfaction Survey, to be followed by the KPI Employer Satisfaction Survey. The purpose of these provincial surveys is to measure Conestoga’s effectiveness in preparing you for the workplace.
The results help new students in their program selection and guide future curriculum and program direction. Forum Canada requires your consent to contact your employer for their input on the employer survey.
We encourage you and your employer to participate.
