I recently have been made aware that Duke is a monopoly in numerous surrounding states, and heavily involved in theillegal installation of dangerous Class 2b Carcinogenic wireless u'tility meters. I feel I must warn other states and theirPublic Service Commissions about the dangers of installing these wireless meters and constantly radiating 'all 'ofus andour environment. Please note the followin ubli comments to be entered into the above mentioned Dockets.

I am fmm your neighboring state North Carolina. I moved to North Carolina with my family and soon after we allbecame very sick. Whenever we returned to visit friends and famil where we use to live we would start to feelbetter and then u n returnin back to North Carolina would start ettin sick a ain.

After speaking with several other people who were having similar health prublem, I discovered that there were severalwireless utility meters connected to my home. Atter more research which involved reviewing doctors'etters, medicalresearch, and public testimony, I discovered that the reason my family was so sick, was because we fiad moved into ahome that had wireless meters. These wireless meters constantly blast us with non-ionizing radiation throughout the day.Thisex lainswh weim roved andours m tomswentawa when welefttovisitm friendsandfamibecause the do not have wireless utili meters in the state I moved from!

I have been told by local residents that they have tried to have their analog meters returned to protect their health andprivacy, but that NCUC and the utility companies are refusing to return the safe analog meters. It is also my,understantding that both Duke and the NCUC have documentation containing over 2000 research studies, medical lettersfrom doctors and public comments &om across the United States which are directly related to the above mentioned caseas well as all ofmy comments.

Dr. Magda Havas, Associate Professor of Environmental tfr Resource Studies at Trent University inPeterborough, Ontario, Canada has received emails and phone calls from occupants of properties'wherewireless meters were recently installed. They complain of ill health, including new symptoms such as"headaches, insomnia, anxiety, skin rashes, tinnitus, heart palpitations, depression, fatigue, and short-'termmemory loss. 8. Wireless meters continually transmit pulsed digital microwave radiation (RF-EMF) 24/7. According to a reportissued'by Pacific Gas'a'nd Electric Company, some wireless meters transniit'upYo 190,000 pulses per day. 2

9. Wireless'meters can interfere with aic-fault circuit interrupter's and hav'e'been'thb suspected cause ofexplosionsand fires.

10. The required power conversion ofwireless'meters causes harmonic distortion within'electrical systems(otherwise known as "dirty electricity"). Dirty electricity has links to cancer.

On November 19, 2011, Portland Press Herald reported thatthe Maine Public Advocate's Office issued the following statement, ""Smart Meters are interfering with a widerange ofhousehold electronic devices, Pom garage door openers and WiF/ devices to security systems. 12. Utilities claim that wireless meters will cause customers to monitor their electrical usage to conserve moreelectricity. However, a British study reported on Sept. 2, 2011 that thousands ofcitizens with a wireless meter ontheir home over the course of one year experienced little to no change in electrical usage. In many other statesconsumers have reported outrageous billing errors and problems with collector"units associated with the wirelessmeters which cause severe spikes and mis-information regarding billing.
