The words, of course, are based on today’s Gospel, in which we are called as disciples to be salt and light for the world. Children are uninhibited about sharing their faith. It’s only when we grow older that we prefer to hide our light under a bushel basket because our culture tends not to em- phasize discipleship. The message in this week’s readings is clear: in order to give glory to God through our discipleship, we must show the light of Christ in our words and deeds. Not an easy thing for inhibited adults. Oſten we may think of salt and light in terms of what we do for others, but it can be just as important not to do something, such as geng angry with the stranger on the road, or telling an offensive joke. La letra de la canción, desde luego, está basada en el Evangelio de hoy, en este estamos llamados como discípulos a ser la sal y la luz del mundo. Los niños no enen dificultad para comparr su fe; solo es cuando crecemos que preferimos esconder nuestra luz bajo un tazón porque nuestra cultura ende a no enfazar el discipulado. El mensaje en las lecturas de esta semana es claro: para poder dar gloria a Dios por medio del discipulado, debemos mostrar la luz de Cristo en nuestras palabras y obras. No es algo fácil para adultos inhibidos. A menudo podemos pensar en la sal y la luz en términos de lo que hacemos por los demás, pero puede ser tan importante como el no hacer nada, ya sea como enojarse con un des- conocido en la carretera o decir una broma ofensiva. THIS LITTLE LIGHT OF MINE As children we sang the lively song This Little Light of Mine. The words, of course, are based on today’s Gospel, in which we are called as disciples to be salt and light for the world. Children are uninhibited about sharing their faith. It’s only when we grow older that we prefer to hide our light under a bushel basket because our culture tends not to em-phasize discipleship. VIRTUS CLASS IN SPANISH
Saturday, February 18, 2017 from 12:00 PM—3:00 PM
Adult VIRTUS Training "Protecting God's Children" will be held at Immaculate Conception Church. Training will be in the activity room. This training is required for all those who have a ministry, payment or volunteer, in which they have contact with minors in our Diocese. Class begins at 12:00 pm. There will be no childcare - Class is for adults only. Children under 18 are not admitted. Please arrive early, once the training has begun, entry will not be ad-mitted. Seats are limited, please register in VIRTUS Online or visit www.diosav.org and find the next VIRTUS training under the "Upcoming Events Calendar" section. If you need help registering, please stop by the Parish Office and Claudia will be delighted to help you.
CATECHISTS NEEDED
Our parish is in need of volunteers to serve as catechists. Remember that without your help we can not form the faith of our children. Do not be afraid if you do not have experience we will help you. Those interested please regis-ter at the office or speak to the Father.

BAPTISMS FOR FEBRUARY, MARCH & APRIL
IN FEBRUARY: We will have baptisms on the 11th. Those wishing to baptize on this date must register at the office before Friday, February 10th and parents & godparents need to assist preparation talks Friday the 10th at 7:00 pm in the parish hall.
IN MARCH: During Lent in March, there will be no bap-tisms.

OFFICE FOR THE PROTECTION OF CHILDREN & YOUNG PEOPLE
The Archdiocese of Atlanta along with the Diocese of Sa-vannah will be cohosting the 2017 Child and Youth Protec-tion Catholic Leadership Conference in Savannah from February 26 to March 1, 2017.
A special Mass opening the Conference will be held on Sunday, February 26th at 5:00pm at the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist. The celebrant will be Archbishop Wilton D. Gregory, Archdiocese of Atlanta. Celebrants will in-clude Bishop Gregory J. Hartmayer, Diocese of Savannah, Bishop Edward J. Burns, Diocese of Dallas and Chair of the USCCB Office of Child and Youth Protection and Bishop J. Kevin Boland, Bishop Emeritus, Diocese of Savannah.
This Mass is open to the faithful. We encourage you to join the conference delegates from across our nation whose ministry fulfills the call of the “Charter for Protec-tion of Children and Young People” at this historic gather-ing.

El entrenamiento de VIRTUS para adultos “Protegiendo los niños de Dios” se llevará a cabo en Immaculate Concep-tion Church. Entrenamiento será en el salón de actividades. OFICINA PARA LA PROTECCIÓN DE LOS NIÑOS Y LOS JÓVENES
La Arquidiócesis de Atlanta, junto con la Diócesis de Savannah, coorganizará la Conferencia de Liderazgo Católico de 2017 para la Protección de Niños y Jóvenes en Savannah del 26 de febrero al 1 de marzo de 2017.
Una misa especial para la apertura de la Conferencia se llevará a cabo el domingo 26 de febrero a las 5:00 pm en la Catedral de San Juan Bautista. El celebrante será el arzobispo Wilton D. Gregory, Arquidiócesis de Atlanta. Los celebrantes incluirán al Obispo Gregory J. Hartmayer, Diócesis de Savannah, al Obispo Edward J. Burns, Diócesis de Dallas y al Presidente de la Oficina de Protección de Niños y Jóvenes de la USCCB y al Obispo J. Kevin Boland, Obispo Emérito de la Diócesis de Savannah.
