Each Christian is called to be a missionary WHEN WE ARE FACED WITH PROBLEMS LOOK FOR GOD’S GUIDANCE WHEN WE ARE FACED WITH PROBLEMS LOOK FOR GOD’S GUIDANCE
Unless we surrender our hearts to the truth as it is in Jesus, we will fall prey to the sinful machinations of the human heart.

PROVERBS 21:2, NIV“All a man’s ways seem right to him, but the Lord weighs the heart”
LIFE WITH INTEGRITYLIFE WITH INTEGRITY
STEPS WE NEED TO MAKE• Obey God rather
than men
• Rely completely upon God’s ways
Obedience to GodObedience to God
• Joab was linked to David’s family and had the responsibility of being in charge of David’s troops. It is during Joab’s tenure as David’s strongman and caretaker that Israel truly becomes a nation.
A. As general, Joab held an important place in David’s support group. What good things did Joab do for David throughout David’s life? 2 Sam. 11:15-25
Obedience to GodObedience to God
• It is interesting to note that Joab follows David’s order even when they violate God’s command, but he has no trouble disobeying the king’s express orders when he stands to gain personally. After all, had Absalom succeeded in his revolt, Joab probably would have been killed himself (2 Sam. 19:5, 6).
B. How did Joab’s jealousy and underhanded methods undermine and eventually destroy his usefulness to David? 2 Samuel 18:5-15
God’s wayGod’s way
• Joab cooly murders his cousin, simply because he has been passed over and is no longer number one.
• How carefully we need to be that we don’t betray someone who trusts us, using that trust to do them dirty.
A. What role do we find Joab in again?
2 Samuel 20
God’s wayGod’s way
• From the murder of Abner to Joab’s flight to the sanctuary in search of security from Solomon’s death decree, the picture painted of Joab’s interior life is a dark one.
• There are no bright hues of personal devotion to God. We may make valiant attempts and even experience positive changes in our lives, but lasting change comes only from a transformed heart that abides in Christ (John 15:1-5).
B. How do we keep the “heart so that our motives and actions are pure? Prov. 4:23
