Mr Campbell put seven yummy fruits into a basket at the Forches shop for his class.

They will be surprised, thought Mr Campbell as they all set off in a coach for the zoo.

I wonder which fruit they will like best?

Just then a black cat, who was swinging by its tail from a tree, stretched down its paw and with its sharp claw stabbed the strawberry.

Suddenly a rabbit popped out from behind a tree and snatched the grapes

Will they like the smooth yellow banana?

Then a furry goat stabbed his horn into the basket and pulled out the banana.

Will they like the juicy spiky pineapple?

Suddenly a rhino stuck his horn into the pineapple and then shook it off and gobbled it all up!

All of a sudden the giraffe stretched his neck down and wrapped his tongue round the apple and lifted it into his mouth.

At that moment an elephant stuck his trunk down and sucked up the pear and chucked it in his mouth.

“Which fruit will the class like best ?”, thought Mr Campbell.

Then the giraffe bumped into the tree and lots of apples fell down into Mr Campbell’s basket.

“Hello”, said Mr Campbell. “I’ve brought you a surprise.”

“Apples!” said the children. “Our favourite fruit.”

“APPLES?” said Mr Campbell. “That is a surprise!”
