With all the fair cancellations,
our food vendors are
struggling this year. Please
give them as much business
as you possibly can.
✓ Reduce
✓ Reuse
✓ Recycle I would like to thank
all those campers
who put forth the
effort to separate
their cans from their
trash.
By doing this, you
help save the
environment, help
save room in the
dumpsters and most
of all, the Shrine uses
them to help
children in need.
Look for the blue
cans next to the
dumpster.

June 4th thru June 7th is the scheduled
date for the Poor Farmer’s Annual
Tractor Show & Flea Market. We are
going to inject a bit of “old normal”
into the year 2020.
Please be patient when you come to
check-in, as our girls in the camp office
are taking every precaution necessary
to keep your germs off of them. When
checking in, make sure you have all of
your information; including your RV
licence plate number and golf cart
insurance info.
If you are bringing an antique tractor to
display, the girls will have to see it
before they can give you the discount.
Please make sure you are displaying
those tractors on the tractor line, not at
your campsite.
Of course we expect all who attend the
show to respect each other’s personal
space, keep yourself clean and for
goodness sake, if you are sick, STAY
HOME! We are not requiring masks,
but if a mask makes you feel warm and
fuzzy, please feel free to wear one.
Here are some guidelines to follow that
will help us all practice safe fleaing.
- When shopping, try not to touch
items unless you plan on buying
them.
- Keep the road open. Do not
congregate on the main road where
people are walking.
- Keep vehicles in the main parking
area unless loading or unloading. No
shopping from your car.
- Keep your distance from others
when in line for food. We will have
two food vendors here (Tony’s and
Chuck’s) to serve you. Please give
these vendors your business as much
as you can. They need your money
now more than ever since there are so
many fairs being cancelled this year.
The tractors will be on the pull track
and The Miami County Antique
Power Association will have their
own special rules for this event.
Please follow those rules to the tee.
We hope that we see you out here for
the show, most of all I hope we all
remember that during these special
times, we must put the wellness of
others before our own. Please be safe
and happy fleaing.
Let’s Go Campin’!
If 2020 has taught us anything, it is to pay attention to the signs. Every business has at
least one new sign on the door detailing
important information regarding COVID-19 protacol. Although these signs are important,
there are some signs that have been around for
many years that require your attention as well.
You know these signs as: Stop Signs, Speed Limit Signs, and Do Not Enter Signs. These
signs have been neglected by people for years,
as if someone took the time and effort to place the sign as only a suggestion.
Please give these signs your utmost attention
while you are here at Poor Farmer’s. Stop at stop signs. Do not enter the “Do Not Enter”
area and the speed limit is 5 mph because no
one stops on a dime when it comes to gravel.
Be safe out there and watch out for each other. We can’t have fun in the hospital or if Mike
asks your lawbreakin’ butt to leave.
Thomas Zwiebel Poor Farmer’s Newest Edition
Poor Farmer’s Campers! Let us introduce you to our newest victim… uhh I mean employee! Thomas Zwiebel joined our work family in April. Tom has been a great addition to our service department and has brought along a wealth of knowledge regarding RVs. Thomas is a handyman, or as he says; a jack of all trades, master of none. He grew up on a farm at Indian Lake in Logan County. There he raised different types of livestock. His favorite was the Guineas, which apparently make great guard animals.
Thomas has a beautiful 2 year old boy named Kooper who is the love of his life. Feel free to visit Thomas on
campsite #20 by the pond. He enjoys having a good time, fishing and golfing. That last bit really got Mike’s attention. Oh… Wine fairy friends, Thomas prefers
Michelob Ultra, Twisted Teas, Snickers, chips of any kind, and his favorite restaurant is Texas Roadhouse.
Welcome Thomas!

There are some things I need you to remember when enjoying
yourself at Poor Farmer’s Campground. They may be small
guestures, but I promise they will go a long way in keeping the
campground relaxing for everyone.
First, when enjoying the public areas of the property, please keep
off of the private campsites that neighbor those areas. For
example, the pull track is a public area that is shared by many,
however, there are private spots along the southwest side that are
private and need to be respected. Also, when you are enjoying
the fishing pond, please do not impose on the surrounding private
sites. Those campers work hard to keep their sites in order, so
let’s respect that.
We would like all campers to have an enjoyable relaxing time
while at Poor Farmer’s. Please do your part to make that possible
for you and your neighbor.
The 2020 Unofficial Golf Cart Challenge was held on May 23rd… or was it. To be honest
the whole event had an erie secretive feeling, as if we were conducting underground golf
cart races for high stakes. The only difference between this event and the road race in The
Fast and the Furious was, well… they were nothing alike. They had supercharged nitrous-powered vehicles that would run hundreds of miles per hour with Vin Diesel behind the
wheel. We had some re-wired battery powered golf carts hitting 20mph if we are lucky
and behind the wheel… some old Sailor named Troy.
This event has always been a precurser to the more prestigious Golf Cart Rodeo that we
hold in August. A test and tune if you will. We tested our golf carts, Troy’s new starting
tree (pictured to left), and we tested our patience with a blindfolded obstacle course. I was
not surprised when Troy, a Sailor, and his daughter Paige, another Sailor, were able to beat
the rest of the pack using highly sophisticated Naval terms like; “stop”, “go”, “left” and
“right”. Sorry guys, as a Marine I think somewhere it is written, in Crayon, that I give you
a hard time.
Thank you Rick, Deb, Denny, Jacque, John, Sharon, Troy, and the rest of the Odd Powers
crew for officially making this unofficial event a great time… and Troy, don’t forget to bring my rubberband game in August. Maybe Paige will visit for a rematch.
The Mad Cow Rambler crew came out to Poor Farmer’s for the second annual Fat Tire Race through the campground. These cyclists sling mud all over themselves in the name of fitness. Who am I kidding, they are in it to win it. This year they had 25 bikes registered for the 30 mile race. They ran through the campground and down the railroad tracks for a total of 9 laps at just over 3 miles per lap. Out of those 25 registared, there was one young man, age 11, who gave it a go. I guess we will call him a slightly agitated calf since he isn’t quite a member yet. The Mad Cow Ramblers appreciate the use of the campground for their race and hope to return next year.

On May 23, 2020 our good friend and
fellow Poor Farmer, Lee Perkins, took
the journey to the Grand Golf Course in the sky. Lee has been mowing Poor
Farmer’s grass and keeping the place
beautiful for over ten years. Lee was a good friend and fellow
golfer. I remember an outing at Shaker
Run Golf Club. Lee wasn’t a bad golfer, however, he is the only guy I
know that could hit the ball and make it
fly six foot behind him… twice… in a
row. Lee is survived by his loving wife Ruth
and an endless line of family and
friends. Keep Lee’s family in your prayers and if you need more
