Greetings from Liz
4 | The Thompson Center on Lourdes
I think most would agree that we’re glad to see 2020 in the rearview mirror. And we look forward to 2021 and hopefully a return to “normal” and “what’s to come”. Whatever that might be.
Many people start the New Year with a resolution or a list of resolutions. It might be to a good habit or changing a behavior, normally it is to achieve a personal goal. We often hear people say I’m going to lose weight, save money, exercise, eat better, get more sleep, and the list goes on. But, by February many of these reso-lutions have been forgotten or dismissed. I wonder why – were the resolutions unrealistic or maybe we just gave up.
Every year I set up goals - I call it my “Wheel of Life”. My wheel has 8 different areas that are important to me – Spiritual, Family, Friends, Health, Financial, Educa-tional, Hobbies, and Career. I keep on track by having “my wheel” on my bath-room mirror. I’ve already started to think about next year. Here’s a couple of examples of the “air that I’m going to put into my wheel” for 2021. Spiritual – read the bible 5 times a week; Financial – Simplify – “Do I need this”?; Health - track food and activities 4 times / week; I try to make my goals specific, measura-ble and attainable. Check with me in February to see how well I’m doing!!
So, do you have a New Year’s resolution? No matter if you make New Year’s Resolutions, let’s approach the New Year with resolve to find the opportunities hidden in each new day. Happy New Year! Volunteer Spotlight
Corinne Noe volunteers at the front desk.
She is highly qualified with degrees in Elementary Education, English, Accounting and Business Management. Some of her work experience includes Business Manager at the Manitowoc-Two Rivers YMCA and controller at Bahcall Rubber Company.
Volunteering has always been a part of her life and includes President of the Manitowoc County Humane Society, editor of her church newsletter in Milwaukee, taught religion classes at St. Mary's in Manitowoc, and at the United Church of Christ in Appleton, and Treasurer at the United Church of Christ in Appleton. Presently, she volunteer as Treasurer of S-Stones, a non-
profit whose mission is to prevent sex trafficking especially among our youth. Other volunteer activities include tutoring first grade students, greeter and receptionist at the Hearthstone His-toric House Museum, and volunteering at the Butterfly Gardens.
Her interests are gardening, reading, and "raising" caterpillars. To keep her mind active, she audited three history classes at UW Fox last year.
Corrine is married to Garry and they have two children and six grandchildren, all living in the area. When she retired four years ago, she wanted to keep busy and give back for the great life she had. It's so important for seniors to stay active, mentally and physically, and the Thompson Center on Lourdes gives the opportunity to do just that.
