Medium duty and heavy duty floors can be assembled using standard pallet racking components. all of our Raised storage areas are purpose built to suit your requirements and are designed to increase the storage capacity of your existing facility. shelving levels can be incorporated into the structure to provide long span shelf levels or freestanding modular units can be positioned between frames for smaller parts storage.
a wide range of flooring materials is available including plywood, particleboard, steel planking and steel grating. Rack based Raised storage areas are usually free-standing and can be dismantled and relocated if required. specialist materials handling equipment can be incorporated into a Rsa, such as conveyors, goods chutes, goods lifts and pallet load gates.

SupER 456
Raised storage areas provide cost effective solutions by utilising overhead space. The Super 456 system is the most convenient and cost effective method of increasing your storage capacity when an open plan layout is required. Super 456 allows mezzanines to be designed using a minimal number of posts and frames. Structures can even be assembled over existing shelving and equipment. Metalsistem’s Super 456 mezzanine system forms are modular structures, created from interlocking components, able to be adapted to the most demanding requirements. all structural components are manufactured from 3.1b (eN10204) certified high tensile steel.
The patented upright is the key to the Super 456 mezzanine system and is galvanised via the Sendzimir procedure in order to guarantee durability over time. Its unique profile comprises a closed section without perforations or cut-outs enabling connections to be made on eight different points on four faces. posts can be made to specific strengths and heights and the post locations can be designed to suit client requirements. common beam spans are approx 3000mm long and heavier duty beams can be used to create longer spans.

THE coMpoNENTS
the structural components are periodically subjected to dimensional and load bearing capacity testing by Metalsistem’s internal testing facilities and regularly undergo independent assessment conducted by external safety and quality certification bodies. Metalsistem’s beams are tested to a maximum deflection of 1/300. Flooring can be created using plywood, particleboard, steel planking or grating. Super 456 Raised Storage Areas are supplied complete with handrails, stairs and pallet loading gates where required to conform to current safety standards.

Super 456 is ideally suited for creating multi-tier storage structures. two and three level Raised storage areas can be created using standard modular components that interlock together. Multi-tier structures enable all of the available overhead space to be utilised and is ideal for storage areas that require active hand picking of products. all floors, regardless of size are engineered by experienced and qualified engineers in order to comply with current building regulations.

Mezzanine floors can be installed over existing equipment such as machinery, conveyors, and shelving or incorporated into new warehouse storage systems.

plywood is the most commonly used flooring on Raised storage areas. it has strong point load capabilities to suit many industrial situations and provides an economical, solid floor surface. plywood can be clear lacquered or painted as desired.

particleboard is the most economical flooring available and is used where point loads are not critical, such as office flooring.
gRATINg
grating allows light to reach lower levels and allows water penetration from sprinkler systems. it is good for visibility and ideal for hygiene requirements, allowing the upper level to be washed down simply.
STEEl plANkINg
steel planking is available in three different surface designs; ribbed, open and smooth. these steel planking sections allow a solid surface with a superior fire rating and are used in Super 456 and Super 123 structures.

Handrails form part of an effective safety plan in ensuring that people and other machinery traffic are kept separate. Handrails are also a mandatory component of Raised Storage Areas and mezzanines.
an economical, strong yet simple system, the Logirail handrail system provides flexibility and can be designed and installed to suit customers’ individual requirements. the unique stanchion and rail design allows it to be transported and erected quickly and simply. Logirail handrailing has a standard galvanised surface finish with other options available including aluminium, powder coated and stainless steel.

the Moddex™ handrailing system provides an alternative handrailing system that does not require onsite welding. using unique modular fittings to assemble the handrailing provides reduced safety risk for the installer and public and can reduce installation time onsite. the modular galvanised tubular sections are constructed of structural steel and can also be supplied in custom powder coat colours to suit individual applications.
