School and at a variety of local businesses for $15.00. They make great birthday, wedding shower or Christmas

gifts. All proceed go to the Schell School Fundraising Committee.

Name Plates – An order for name plates for the feature wall in the main entrance of our school will be made

late in November, so that we have them up for the Christmas Concert. The wall includes all former staff, board

members and students from any of the schools on the wall. If you wish to have your name, your student’s name

or a parent or grandparent displayed under any of these schools, please leave a cheque for $10/name plate at the

front desk. Cheques to be made out to “Schell School Fundraising Committee”. We need a minimum of 5 name

plates in order to place an order.

Registration Verification Forms were sent out with students the first week of school. If you have not

returned it, please make any necessary changes to information on the form, sign and return to the school. A

separate Driver’s Authorization Form was also sent home. This form is for all parents, grandparents and

guardians who are willing to drive for class trips and sports. These forms need to be in conjunction with the

criminal records and vulnerable sector check. Criminal records checks are good for 3 years, so if you filled one

out recently they will be acceptable. If you have any questions or concerns or want to check the expiration of

your criminal records check, please contact the school at 488-2055.

From the Canteen . . . Fresh fruit and vegetables! We continue to use our nutrition grants to provide

some healthy choices for students at our canteen. This month we had a variety of fruits and veggies

bagged and for sale for the mere price of 25 cents. We also enjoyed many other delicious options such

as perogies, wraps and pasta bowls provide by Mrs. Myrah & Mrs. Fahlman. Thank you Mrs. Myrah for

all of your work preparing the fruits and veggie bags in September. Special thank you to Mrs. Fahlman

who looks after stocking, ordering and cleaning the canteen on a daily basis!

Fresh Fruit Fundraiser – We are participating in the De Simone fresh fruit fundraiser again this year. We

have attached order forms to this school newsletter – only one per family. If you should choose to order any of

the products, please fill out the form accordingly and have it back to the school by Friday, November 4, 2016.

Multiple orders can be placed on the same order form. Cheques are made payable to “Schell School SRC”.

there are any questions, please call the school @ 488-2055. Thank you very much for your support and have a

nice Thanksgiving holiday!

contact information of the regular riders.

7. There must be room on the bus to accommodate the additional rider(s).

8. School administration is to contact Southland Transportation, where applicable or the bus driver, to

advise of approval for “one time” transportation.

Junior Girls – Congratulations to the Jr. Girls Volleyball team on their 2nd place finish at their home

tournament this past weekend. It was an excellent turnout with great competition between the teams. Thank

you to Ms. Knorr for being the referee the whole day, Mrs. Fahlman and all her helpers for putting on a great

canteen and all the students who helped with the score keeping and doing lines for the first and final matches.

The girls continue to practice twice a week and play in league games on Thursdays. They are continually

improving and are looking forward to participating in their next tournament in Watrous on October 15. This

will be a 10 team tournament so it is bound to provide the girls with some great opportunities to work together

and demonstrate their skill as a team. Congratulations girls again on your win and I look forward to watching

you improve even more in the 2nd month of play!

- Mrs. Demmings (coach)

Senior Girls Volleyball – With a team roster made up of mostly grade 10’s and 11’s, it has been a slow start

but with hard work and some tough tournaments, the girls have improved greatly. Our first tournament was at

Bruno and we finished third. Next we travelled to Wakaw where we experienced the likes of PA Carlton,

Wakaw and Kinistino. We survived the day with one match victory, ouch! This past weekend, we travelled to

Weyburn and again faced a very tough pool. The girls played better and started to play a better game against

Moose Jaw Central, Kinistino, Weyburn 10’s and Montmarte. We defeated the Weyburn 10’s and advanced to

the consolation final after defeating Viscount from Moose Jaw. In the final the Weyburn 9’s, a very skilled and

well coached team, defeated us 2 straight. Progress is being made!

- Mr. Kurbis (coach)

Books Make Great Gifts! - The Book Fair will be held from November 7-10, 2016. We will be featuring books

Holdfast Palliser Library – Thank you so much to all the kids who participated this summer! Our enrolment

was up from last year and it was great to see all the kids trying to read the best they could! The child who read

the most books was Hunter Thorson, and in second place was Elizabeth Maerz. Way to go you two, and great

job to all the other children – this year each child who participated was able to pick a prize once Hunter and

Elizabeth had chosen theirs.

During the summer reading program, each child was able to guess each time they came to the library on how

many candies were in the jar as well. Lisette Isabelle was our winner for this, she guessed right on at 68

candies! Good job Lisette!

The library will also be hosting a Halloween Story Hour – please watch for posters or posts via Facebook. The

children loved this last year and we look forward to another fun year of story hours. Also watch for other

upcoming events & fundraisers.
