3ThyssenKrupp Solartec.Securing the future with solar energy.

Its innovative design features and forward-looking technology make ThyssenKruppSolartec a reliable long-term investment.

ThyssenKrupp Solartec is also certified to IEC 61 646 and TÜV Protection Class II.

Solar technology will have an important part to play in future energy supplies. It is alsoindispensable for reducing CO2 emissions.

ThyssenKrupp Solartec is a modern, high-quality, flexible system which can be used asroofing and façade elements. It offers manyadvantages, both economical and ecological.

Our aim is to make using solar panels just as easy andnatural as using conventional roofing and façade systems.

We want to help build the future.

Depending on requirements, our elements areutilized in industrial and housing construction. Our proven sandwich elements have been used as standard for many years in industrialbuildings, where ease of installation combineswith the large surface areas involved to allowthe economical generation of electricity. Ourflexible single-shell panels can be adapted tothe demanding geometries frequently found in residential construction. One thing commonto all types is that they are specially manu-factured for your specific construction project. That makes it possible to integrate surfacesinto the roofing and façade concepts which areunsuitable for other PV modules, thus avoidingclashes of style.

Moreover, the innovative triple-junction tech-nology used by UNI-SOLAR® generates moreenergy than conventional PV systems. Thattranslates into a higher annual yield per kWp of installed power. Considering the savingsmade on roofing material, the ThyssenKruppSolartec system offers an economical andattractive solution which makes an activecontribution to protecting the environment.

ThyssenKrupp Solartec is a complete roofingand façade system comprising UNI-SOLAR®

solar film laminated onto galvanized andplastic-coated steel sheet. In roofs it completelyreplaces conventional roofing systems andrequires no additional substructures or othermounting fixtures. The system is ideal both for new buildings and for roof or façaderenovation projects.

ThyssenKrupp Solartec is suitable for bothresidential and industrial building. Single-shellelements are available in two performancetypes. The modules can also be supplied assandwich elements with varying performanceratings. The large, unbreakable panels are easy to install, can be walked over and offergreater operating safety.

Using steel sheet as the substrate makes itpossible to realize complex building designs. In fact, the flexibility of our systems opens up interesting new architectural possibilities.Structural requirements relating to buildingheight can be incorporated and out-of-the-ordinary color designs accommodated, includ-ing the ReflectionsOne® color collection fromThyssenKrupp Steel.

UNI-SOLAR® solar laminate comprisesthree solar cells stacked on top of eachother. Each of these cells is sensitive to a different spectral range to improveenergy yield. Nine thin-film layers ofnanocrystalline silicon alloy are lami-nated together using a continuous roll-to-roll deposition process.

Advantages of UNI-SOLAR®

• enhanced sensitivity to blue-greenlight delivers higher annual yieldseven under diffuse light

• bypass diodes for improved shadowtolerance

• reduced performance loss at highertemperatures

• higher annual yield than from con-ventional PV systems

• ThyssenKrupp Solartec elements are avail-able in single-shell design for air-insulatedroofs, in double-shell design for non-insu-lated roofs and as heat-insulating sandwichcomponents.

• The elements provide a compete roofing and façade system with integrated triple-junction solar cells, saving the building ownerthe costs of conventional roofing and wallcladding.

• No additional substructures are required for mounting.

• The large-area panels are linked togetherduring installation by just two plug connec-tions, while the individual solar cells in eachpanel are factory interconnected.

• With no glass used, the ThyssenKruppSolartec elements are lightweight yet robustenough to allow them to be walked on. Their low weight allows the entire roof sub-structure to be made lighter and thus lessexpensive.

• ThyssenKrupp Solartec ‘shadow’ moduleswithout PV laminate are available for north-facing or other shaded areas. The required AC converters, DC cables and moldededgings are also available.
