Installation Overview | 3

Chapter 1 Installation Overview

Before you install TIBCO Scribe Insight, you should have an understanding of the components you will be installing, as well as an overview of the installation process.

Component Overview

TIBCO Scribe Insight consists of several components, most of which reside on your TIBCO Scribe server.

The TIBCO Scribe server does not need to be a dedicated computer. You can install TIBCO Scribe on your application server or database server; however, optimal performance is typically realized by installing TIBCO Scribe server components on a dedicated computer. The non-server components can be installed on any workstation that meets the system requirements for that component.

ComponentsThere are four main components included in the Scribe installation:

• TIBCO Scribe Internal Database – (SCRIBEINTERNAL) Contains settings, process execution history, error logs, and other TIBCO Scribe-related data. This Microsoft SQL Server database is used by all other TIBCO Scribe Insight components. If your site does not have SQL Server, you can install Microsoft SQL Server Express as part of the TIBCO Scribe Insight installation process.

• TIBCO Scribe Insight server – Uses Windows services to provide automated integration processes and system monitoring. The TIBCO Scribe Insight server also includes TIBCO Scribe Workbench and TIBCO Scribe Console components.

• TIBCO Scribe Workbench – Provides a rich graphical environment in which data mappings can be designed, tested and manually run. These data mappings can be saved as data translation specification (.dts) files, which are the fundamental building blocks of Insight processes.

4 | Chapter 1 Installation Overview

After installing and configuring the TIBCO Scribe Insight server, you can install the TIBCO Scribe Workstation, which includes the TIBCO Scribe Console and Workbench, on any workstation on your network. For information about installing TIBCO Scribe Workstation, see Chapter 5, Installing TIBCO Scribe Workstation, on page 45.

• TIBCO Scribe Console – Provides a user interface for configuring and managing automated integration processes on the TIBCO Scribe Insight server. This is a Microsoft Management Console (MMC)-based application you can install independently of the Workbench (installed separately as the TIBCO Scribe Workstation) and the rest of the product, and configure it to connect to a TIBCO Scribe Insight server on your network or over the Internet.

Additional TIBCO Scribe SoftwareYou can optionally install the following software:

• TIBCO Scribe Adapters – Provide an interface to a specific application or technology. TIBCO Scribe has a full suite of adapters for the leading front office and back office applications. The adapters are included as part of the TIBCO Scribe Insight installation.

See the TIBCO Scribe Insight Help Library for the Help on each adapter, which provides more information about installing and using

Insight User Licensing | 13

Insight User Licensing

When your organization buys TIBCO Scribe Insight, it purchases an Edition based on the number of CRM or ERP users they license through applications such as Dynamics 365 / CRM, Salesforce, or Dynamics GP that will be used to connect with Insight.

For example, if your organization runs both Dynamics 365 / CRM and Salesforce CRM systems, and you have:

• 50 Dynamics 365 / CRM user licenses for Rose & Thorn Company

• 50 Dynamics 365 / CRM user licenses for Green Landscapes Company

• 120 Salesforce users for Flowers Company for All Organization

When you use TIBCO Scribe Insight to connect to those companies, Insight adds the total number of licensed users for those systems, for a total of 220 users. Therefore, your organization must purchase a TIBCO Scribe Insight Standard license that allows (or supports) up to 250 users. If you add a new Salesforce Organization with 100 users, you have 100 Dynamics CRM users and 220 Salesforce users, for a total of 320 users, which exceeds the number allowed by your current Insight license.

As soon as the total number of CRM users exceeds the number of users for your Insight license, your Insight Administrator receives a warning email each day that these connections are used. At this point, your organization must either:

• Upgrade the Insight license to accommodate more users.

• Stop using a connection to bring the total number of CRM users to under the licensed number (250 in this example).

If your organization neither upgrades nor reduces the number of users, your Insight Administrator receives warning emails for 15 days. After that time, jobs using these connections no longer run.

CRM and ERP users are counted separately. However, the same rules apply for organizations using ERP applications.

Failover | 17

Failover

Failover allows a group of servers to maintain a high availability of the TIBCO Scribe Insight Application and Services. You can perform failover for TIBCO Scribe Insight with either application-based clustering or Hyper-V clustering.

The method you use choose depends on your site requirements:

• Application-based failover — Requires two servers in a Windows Failover Cluster and is supported on Windows Server 2012 and later.

• Hyper-V Clustering — Requires a two-node Windows Failover Cluster with Hyper-V installed. Hyper-V Clustering for TIBCO Scribe Insightis supported on Windows Server 2012 and later.

• Mixed-mode clustering — This is a combination of Application-based and Hyper-V Clustering. In this mode, you install and configure Hyper-V clustering, using two images where one image is active and the other is in standby mode.

For more information, see, Configure An Application-Based Failover Cluster, on page 68.

Scribe Services User | 43

Scribe Services User

If you did not specify a user for Scribe Services during the installation, all Scribe services are set to run logged in as Local System account. The system account exposes all local resources but does not allow you to use any resources on other computers on the network.

We suggest you create a Windows account to be used by the Scribe services. This account can be set up with the necessary access on the local computer and on other computers on the network. After you create this account, change the properties on the Scribe services to log on as this account. The Scribe services operate in the security context of this restricted account.

If the Scribe processes need access to remote file servers or a network system — for example, if the collaboration root or event files are located on another server — you must set up a specific user account that has access to the remote files and run the Scribe services under this user.

Setting Up Principals That Use Insight | 61

Setting Up Principals That Use Insight

When the Workbench or Console starts, it connects to the Scribe Internal database. If you are using Windows Authentication, you must set up principals in SQL Server for each Windows user who uses Insight and set up a principal for Scribe services. These principals authenticate the users and allow them to access the Scribe Internal database.

To add a principal with proper access to the Scribe Internal database:

1. Open SQL Server and verify the principal is associated with the Scribe Internal database (SCRIBEINTERNAL).

2. Verify the principal has the following permissions to the SCRIBE schema in the Scribe Internal database:

— Select

— Insert

— Update

— Delete

— Execute

— Alter

3. Verify the principal has access to other resources required by Insight, such as MSMQ, .dts files, and so on.

You can use the SQL Server predefined role, dbowner, to simplify this process. See your SQL Server documentation for more information about granting permissions to a schema.

— Failover during a job managed by the DEFAULT processor group or a user-defined process group — The services stop while the job is running. The MessageProcessor handling the current IP execution does not move the generated message out of the ScribeIn queue. After the services resume after the failover, the message is processed a second time, this time being marked as successful in the Execution Log. This may cause problems because a job intended to run only once runs twice.

• Queue IPs — Failover during a job causes the services to stop while the job is running. The MessageProcessor handling the current IP execution does not move the generated message out of the ScribeIn queue. After the services resume after the failover, the message is processed a second time, this time being marked as successful in the Execution Log. This may cause problems because the job runs twice, when it was intended to run only once.

• Publishers

— Failover between retrieving messages causes the services to stop and start on their own. The next timed run succeeds without any negative side effects.

— Failover during retrieval causes one of the following to occur:

The message remains in the ScribePublisher queue and is picked up next polling cycle.

The message remains in the PubIn queue Insight requeries for the message after the failover.

The message is moved to the PubFailed queue and must be manually moved into the PubIn queue.

A File IP set to delete the trigger file after execution does not do so, because the Execution Log was not updated and the job was not marked as complete.

Hyper-V ClusteringHyper-V Clustering for TIBCO Scribe Insight requires a two-node Windows Failover Cluster with Hyper-V installed and is supported on Windows Server 2012 and later.

The advantage of using Hyper-V clustering is the ease of setup and management: you install only one instance of TIBCO Scribe Insight on a Virtual machine that can failover between the two Hyper-V cluster nodes. TIBCO Scribe Insight remains up as long as one of the servers in the cluster is up.

With Hyper-V clustering, you must allow for downtime during maintenance, because there is only one instance of Insight running.

Figure 2 Hyper-V Cluster During Failover

Before you set up Insight, the Hyper-V role must be installed and the Windows Failover Clustering feature must be configured by your IT Administrator and validated.

Application-BasedApplication-based failover requires two servers in a Windows Failover Cluster and is supported on Windows Server 2012 and later.

In your Application-based failover, one server actively runs Insight Applications and Services while the other server is in standby mode, waiting to take over in case a server fails.

Figure 3 Application-Based Failover Cluster In Standby

The advantage of using Application-based failover is there is no down time when a server fails or when performing maintenance, such as Insight upgrades, patches, or operating system updates.

Figure 4 Application-Based Failover Cluster During Server Failover

68 | Chapter 8 Configuring A Failover Cluster

Mixed-Mode ClusteringIdeally, the failover setup is a combination of Application-based and Hyper-V Clustering, or Mixed-Mode Clustering, which uses two nodes, each of which uses Hyper-V to provide additional redundancy during a hardware or Hyper-V failure, a maintenance period, or any other down time that may occur in your environment.

To use a mixed-mode clustering:

• Install and configure Hyper-V clustering on two images.

• Set up each image to act like a node in the application-based failover, where one node is active and the other is in standby mode.

• Following the application-based steps, set up the services, MSMQ, and other requirements outside of the Hyper-V images.

Configure An Application-Based Failover Cluster

In a Windows Server 2012 environment, TIBCO Scribe Insight can be configured for high availability with Microsoft Clustering Services. A TIBCO Scribe Insight failover cluster displays as a single TIBCO Scribe Insight server instance and can access shared MSMQ queues, a shared disk, as well as Scribe services or an overview of failover clusters, see the Microsoft article, Failover Clustering Overview.

To learn more about configuring a Microsoft failover cluster in Windows Server 2012, see the MSDN article, Creating a Cluster in Windows Server 2012.

Before you use failover, verify UAC is not enabled.

TIBCO Scribe Insight With TLS 1.2 Only Enabled | 111

Appendix A TIBCO Scribe Insight With TLS 1.2 Only Enabled

When only the TLS 1.2 protocol is enabled you must have upgraded ODBC drivers to access the Scribe Internal Database and allow the Workbench to run.

The TIBCO Scribe ® Insight Installer requires that TLS 1.0 be enabled to complete the installation process. After the installation is complete, you may choose to disable TLS 1.0 and use TLS 1.2. After disabling everything but TLS 1.2 on a system, Insight cannot communicate with the internal database. Other adapters are also affected and cannot operate.

There are two Scribe ODBC DSN’s that need to be recreated using newer drivers.

Recreating The ODBC DSNs

1. Requires that one of the following 32 bit ODBC Drivers be installed:

Microsoft® ODBC Driver 13 for SQL Server® - Windows + Linux

See https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=50420 (msodbcsql.msi)

Or

SQL Server Native Client 11.0 (v 2011.110.6518.000) or later

2. Requires Microsoft® OLE DB Driver 18 for SQL Server®

See https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=56730 (msoledbsql.msi)

Verify that the version of Microsoft SQL Server you are using has all of the updates required for TLS 1.2.

SQL Server Native Client may already be installed on your system. Check the installed ODBC drivers.

3. Change the ScribeInternal_MS ODBC DSN to use the new driver:

Determine which ODBC DSN is used for Scribe Insight (if more than 1 exists)

From the folder where Insight is installed run InternalDB.exe. The ODBC DSN name is at the top.

4. Using C:\Windows\SysWOW64\odbcad32.exe (for 32-bit systems) or C:\Windows\SysWOW64\odbcad32.exe (for 64-bit systems) or the

Add/Modify ODBC Data Source button on the Data Sources tab shown when you run InternalDB.exe:

a. On the System DSN tab, rename the old DSN, for example, ScribeInternal_MS to ScribeInternal_MS2).

b. Add a new System DSN with the same name as the original DSN, for example, ScribeInternal_MS.

c. Select either the new ODBC driver 13 for SQL Server or the SQL Server Native Client 11.00 depending on which driver you installed.

d. Enter the name of the server where the Scribe Internal Database is installed.

e. Select the one of the authorization types.

Windows Authentication

SQL Authentication - Username/password is typically SCRIBE/integr8!

f. Set the default database to be SCRIBEINTERNAL.

g. The remaining options can be the defaults.

5. Change the Scribe SQL Server Template ODBC DSN to use the new driver:

The Scribe SQL Server Template ODBC DSN is used when creating Native SQL connections in Insight, which only supports SQL Authentication. If your instance of SQL Server only allows Windows Authentication, this step is not necessary.

Using C:\Windows\System32\odbcad32.exe. (for 32-bit system) or C:\Windows\SysWOW64\odbcad32.exe (for 64-bit system) or the Add/Modify ODBC Data Source button on the Data Sources tab shown when you run InternalDB.exe:

a. On System DSN tab, rename the old DSN, for example, Scribe SQL Server Template to Scribe SQL Server Template2).

b. Add a new System DSN with the same name as the original DSN, for example, Scribe SQL Server Template).

c. Select either the ODBC driver 13 for SQL Server or SQL Server Native Client 11.0 depending on which driver you installed.

d. Enter the name of the server where Scribe Internal Database is installed.

e. Select SQL Authentication authorization type.

For SQL Authentication the username/password is typically SCRIBE/integr8!

f. The remaining options can be the defaults.
