John 3:16 “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.” There are those stories we read over and over throughout our lives. Each time we read them, we may connect to a different part of the story or have a different level of compassion for a character in the story. They have

always been there, but just did not catch our attention the last time we read the story. Maybe that piece held a lesson or reinforced a point we needed to hear. It could be that our experiences have allowed us to see it with new eyes. The story of Easter is one we hear each year. We hear of Christ’s ministry to the people and His calling and training of Disciples. How the people felt His arrival would lead to a militant victory over their oppressors, how He was betrayed by those He loved, His times of prayer, His cries to His Father, the injustice handed down by those in authority, His crucifixion and burial, the resurrection from the grave and ascension to His Father in Heaven. We may have a stronger connection to a different part each time. Do you find that what you relate to is similar to what is going on in your life? Do you store the pieces of information in your memory and then later share them with someone who needs that message? What part of Christ’s sacrifice touched your heart this year? What did you learn from His ministry? From the events at the Last Supper or in the Garden? Could you feel the struggle of the disciples? What did you take away from the rulers and the crowd? Did you feel the sorrow of His mother? Is the struggle of obedience to follow the Father’s will pulling at your heart? Were you captured by the despair? Were you ready for the celebration of the resurrection? If you are new to all of this, how did it influence you? What will you share with others? Whom does God ask you to take time for? What are we supposed to see differently? The message throughout the whole story is one of love. The Father loves us so deeply that He was willing to become human, enduring our suffering, and bearing our sins on the cross just to show us how much we are loved. He is in pursuit of our heart. He desires our love and obedience. He may not always approve of our actions, but He will always love us. Micah 7:18-19 “Who is a God like you, who pardons iniquity and passes over the rebellious act of the remnant of His possessions? He does not retain His anger forever, because He delights in unchanging love. He will again have compassion on us He will tread our iniquities under foot. Yes you will cast out all their sins into the depths of the sea.” Julie Roush

Be sure to mark your calendars for Saturday, April 30th, when the Regional Assembly is scheduled for Overland Park Christian Church. An inspiring message by our denomination’s leader, Rev. Dr. Sharon Watkins, along with informative workshops will make up the day. Registration which includes lunch is only $20.00 and is well worth the cost and our time. This is a great opportunity to worship and learn with so many other Disciples from our region. For more information go to www.kcdisciples.org. Happenings at nearby congregations:

One of the things I have enjoyed doing and want to continue on doing since coming to FCC is getting to know every one personally. So please invite me to coffee, lunch or dinner. I would love to be invited to your home. I want to meet every active and inactive member of First Christian Church to hear your hopes and hurts and dream. So call or email Shawn in the church office and setup a time to get together. Looking forward to seeing you soon.

This year’s Summer Camp will be at Tall Oaks, and we are very excited about what this year will bring to our students. Registration forms are in the narthex or available by contacting Kati Hughes. Remember there is an early bird registration that will be $25 off regular camp rate; the early bird deadline is April 30, 2016. This year Tall Oaks is providing a scholarship program to families who cannot afford to send their child to summer camp, where Tall Oaks will help pay their way. If you or someone you know, cannot afford camp please have them fill out a form and/or contact youth leader, Kati Hughes, for this summer’s youth programs. Also, be on the look out for children in your neighborhood and community who are un-churched so that they might be exposed to Gods beauty and love during camp this year. This is a great way for children of Bonner who might not know who Jesus Christ is to get to know Him personally.

Our Discipleship class will be starting a new study on April 3, the Sunday after Easter. One purpose of the class is to understand how God works in our lives every day and to discern the plan and pattern for our lives. The Spiritual Autobiography Workbook will guide us to see how God has repeatedly touched and guided us throughout our lives, no matter how obedient we have been. The purpose of this study is to realize and refine our testimonies so that we can better see into other people’s lives and help them understand how God is active there, too, and thus help draw them to Christ. We would love for you to come – any age, any stage of Christian maturity! We meet in Room 1C from 11-12 right after Sunday worship. Please bring your favorite Bible, a notebook, curiosity, and a smile! LeAnne

Thank you to my Christian family for the prayers, cards, calls and visits during the last 4 1/2 months. God’s presence in your lives has brought me ever closer to your Christian love. - Beth Enloe

A heartfelt thanks to Gayla, Paula, Marilyn and Linda for their efforts for Bread & Broth. Again, there was always enough for everyone. Thanks to all who brought bread and soup. The fellowship around the tables enhances the season of Lent.
