The course provides an insight to usage of letters, image creation and the language of typography. Students study specific examples from the fundamentals of word processing through graphic design to printing outcomes.

description classification of course
This class is obligatory for all students at Faculty of Architecture.
credit
The attainable credits is 2 in case of successful accomplishment.
aim of course
First aim is to understand and evaluate of visual design as well as to help the orientation in this field. Further goals are to develop the visual skills because the fundamentals of typography and visual design is a strong esthetic sensibility.
educational methods
Architectural typography course is a practice with the use of computers. Classes contain the theoretical and practical knowledges, where students can acquire the curriculum, therefore visiting the class is obligatory.
assessment
By the evaluate of course the emphasis is on the adaptation of theory into the project. In the semester students should design a typographical project. The detailed requirements will be later.

inscription aim of task
Use the skills you learned to design and create a typographical project. Students will also be working outside of class on projects for a minimum of 2 hours per week.
desciption of exercise
Students should have to design a brochure, ID, packaging or interactive interface, in which the visual graphic design is in tune with the content and is able to connect the form and function. Submission of student project is obligatory and premise to successful accomplishment.
submission parts
The student project must contain the following parts on what kind of design student select.
In the case of brochure: • cover page, TOC, inside page samples, imprint, etc.
In the case of ID: • logo logotype and it’s mutations, business card, letter and envelope, digital storages (CD. DVD, stb.), others (dressing, vehicle, stb.)
In the case of interactive media: •opening page/welcome screen, inside pages (max. 2-3), imprint, others (logo, forms, etc.)
submission instuction
Submit your completed assignments by uploading. Please use the cloud folder of course. Parts of assignments must be merged into one file (Acrobat-PDF/Powerpoint-PPT/Flash-SWF/ACDSee-Slideshow-EXE/etc) and use this naming structure: surname_first name_projectname.pdf (or any file extension).
BROCHUREStudents have to design a brochure (portfolio, catalogue, manual, booklet, stb.) during the semester. The sources can be analogue and/or digital. Brochure must contain ima-ges, texts and graphics.
IDENTITY DESIGNStudents should have to de-sign identity for an exist or a fiction company (firm, atelier, community, institute, organi-sation, etc). Work must conta-in the basic components and mutations of ID and must pre-sent the ID on different tools (car, flag, pen, T-shirt, etc).
INTERACTIVE MEDIAStudent have to design an in-teractive interface like website or mobile app. It can be own portfolio or a fiction service or something else. Interactive surface must contain menü, images, texts and graphical elements (for example logo)Programming of the design is not obligatory.

Student project will be evaluated based on the followings view-points (order is at the same time the order of priorities): • creativity, idea • harmony between form and function • quality of design • deadline

Students receive marks according to craftsmanship, concept, and the accuracy with which they meet the assignments goals.
