A few notes:
1. I did not apply to Lyft recently, although I had in the past.
2. I live near a Salem, not Salem, Oregon, however I hardly see this as a coincidence.
3. Numerous consumers reported this number to be troublesome
4. From what I gather about the Lyft (a legitimate company) is that they do not do interviews in such a
manner. Therefore, I assume that this is not Lyft.
I assume that the sender was phishing for a response. "wrong number", "STOP", etc.
I did not send any message back.

Description Uber submitted proposed legislation to the Kansas Legislature that was amended in a form not
supported by Uber. In response, Uber sent messages to all Kansans that have used Uber service.
When recipients opened the message, that triggered an automatic transmission of messages to all
125 Kansas House of Representatives members.
I received 1710 messages and the State server received over 85,000 in one hour. That crashed the
State system. I personally contacted the three people whose names I recognized and asked if they
had sent the message.
The answer was No, that if a message to legislators was sent, it was triggered by the recipient
opening the message from Uber and required no affirmative action by the recipient.
Such communications without affirmative recipient authorization should not be permitted and Uber
should be cited for its actions.
I am filing this complaint under "Internet" because the Internet was used to deliver the Uber message
and Uber's action resulted in the State of Kansas' Legislative server crashing. This is not a complaint
against any Internet provider.

Description Uber Inc. continued to spam me incessantly ever since i rode with them several years ago. I
processed an opt out through the bottom of the emails, which took me to a black Uber webpage. In
February and march of 2015, I contacted Ubers legal counsel, Ubers customer service, & ubers
media relations(since spam is a form of media marketing) with official letters describing that i did not
want their marketing emails and that they were violating my rights. They continued to email me for
several more months with email marketing spam. In addition, when i sent my official email clarifying
my position and demanding that the spam cease, Uber Inc. harvested my email address from my
complaint, and submitted and signed me up for ADDITIONAL email marketing spam coming from
UBER communications with emails about offers, deals, and services. I have reached out to UBER,
they refused to resolve the matter amicably, and they have refused to communicate with me so that
we may resolve this matter. Uber is in violation of the Can Spam act for failing to provide a
unsubscribe mechanism that "WORKS", for refusing to remove me from the email spam system, and
for signing me up for additional spam services through me email provided in my complaint and cease

When I called the number 704-626-2373 from a land line at my office that these texts are coming
from, my personal cell phone ) began to ring in my hand! I went directly to the Verizon
store (my carrier) and they directed me to their Fraud Dept. They sent me back to Customer Service
who explained my number had been "spoofed" or was being copied.
They put a block on my account so I can't receive calls from this spoof # 704-626-2373 for 90 days.
They instructed me to download an App on my phone which will enable me to permanently block
calls/texts from this number.
This morning, I also received a phone call from a woman in Albert, CA who claimed she'd received a
call at 3AM in the morning from my number. I assured her it was not me and apologized for any
inconvenience. I explained something very shady was going on with my phone and I was going to
get to the root of it today.
Verizon instructed me to file a report with the FCC and the BBB.
I am a Realtor who has been in business with this same ph# for 20 years. Verizon
said the only way for me to truly stop this "spoofing" is to change my number which I'm not willing to
do at this point. I'd have to change all my marketing and business cards if I do that.

Description On the morning of 12 October, 2015, I turned on my work cell phone and received an unsolicited text
from Uber offering me $150 to become a driver. The message was sent from 316-854-1245 and,
while it purports to be from "Charlie", a text response to not send offers of employment to my work
phone was bounced with the message "Uber does not accept messages at this time". The text
message included a hyperlink (http://ubr.to/1VLWMKA) that goes to an application page where there
is no provided hyperlink to opt-out of similar future texts. Not only did I not provide Uber written
consent for such offers, but I believe this offer violates Uber's own usage policy as described in
https://www.uber.com/legal/privacy/users/en updated 15 July, 2015. This offer of employment on an
account charged to my employer also puts me in violation of my employer's acceptable usage policy.
The phone equipment physically belongs to me, but my employer pays for the usage plan by direct
billing to a nationally shared corporate plan.

Description I attempted to unsubscribe from Uber's e-mail (I had been a driver but didn't want to continue) in early
April. E-mails persisted so I again followed the path to "Unsubscribe". I then began receiving daily e-
mails from them "reminding me" to upload my renewed insurance documents. On 4/22 I e-mailed
their support to delete my account and remove me from any further e-mails ; I received a response
within minutes that my account had been deleted and I'd receive no further communications.
On 4/23 (the following day) I again received another e-mail and, again, responded that my account
was to have been deleted and these e-mails were bordering harassment. I received no response to
that e-mail but did receive another spam e-mail the following day (4/24). I responded to the original
customer service representative that said they had deleted my account and they assured me I would
not receive additional communications from Uber.
This morning (4/26) I AGAIN received a spam e-mail from them about my account being on hold for
an expired insurance document. I've e-mailed them again but have no faith that they will remove me
from their mailing.
I'm asking for your assistance in remedying this and I am not opposed to litigation against Uber at this
time.

Description Uber and Lyft have usurped their user/driver/downloader lists to send messages in favor of
Proposition 1 in Austin, which directly affects their ability to operate in the city. I have been offered
free rides to the polls via advertising in my notifications, which doesn't smell right. I have asked to be
taken off Uber's list for calls and texts several times to no avail--the calls keep coming. I do not
believe that in using a service, I agree to be bombarded with political and advertising speech. I have
also asked both companies to stop advertising promotions in their application's notifications, or at the
very least, give me the option to opt-out. App notifications interrupt the top of my screen when I'm
trying to use my phone. I never consented to allow that kind of pop-up advertising on my phone,
either.

Description Uber has petitioned for a law change in Austin. This week I have received a text message and a
phone call from Uber asking me to support the law change that will exempt them from regulation by
the City of Austin on matters of public safety and requiring them to provide accommodations for the
disabled. I did not sign their petition for the law change. I have not purchased any service from Uber
in over a year. I responded to the text message requesting removal from the list. I did not get a
reply. Two days later I received a phone call with the same request that I vote for the law change
known as "prop 1." It's reported that Uber has spent $8M on this campaign. It's not acceptable to
receive the unwanted text or phone call.

Description Uber is constantly tracking my phone. I sent numerous emails to uber about tracking my phone all the
time. I don't have a account with uber. They asked for my phone so they check to see if I'm in the
system I told they I don't have an account with uber. They constantly track my phone on a regular
bases. Before I can use my phone to call someone uber redirect me to their website. I want uber to
stop tracking my phone.
