    6 Wanderers

    The rain started to fall

    but not even rain

    could stop this week's

    drills and game...and

    the kids loved playing

    in the rain!

    With Vanessa back in

charge, three drill stations were set up and the team

groups took turns to visit each.

Joshua, Zac and Nick worked well together listening

and developing their skills. Also joining our group this

week from U6 Glory was Jayden and Ben, who both

love tackling for the ball. After drills, game time.

We played our match against U6 Glory. For the first

half they borrowed Tom and second half Jake - both

with great ball skills from the light blue team.

    Nick never stopped running the

    whole morning and scoring,

earning him our first Player of

    the Week Award.

The U6 Glory Player of the

Week went to Jayden who, like

    Nick never stopped running to

    kick goals.

Great effort by all, even though

we ended up a little bit

wet...but how often do you get to play in the rain...

    8 Orange vs CHU

The U8’s headed out to Fred Caterson Reserve on

Saturday and a much needed improvement on the

week before was vital. The team decided to put their

heads together and all played well.

With Jean-Luc being Player of the Week, and really

playing well with a positive attitude. Owen was not

available to play and was truly missed in defence and

attack. Great effort to our goal keepers – Mia first

    half, and Andreas second half.

A great goal by Andreas, but we couldn’t find the

back of the net for our equalizer.

To the whole team – Georgette, Lakshman, Aryan,

Tyler, Jean-Luc, Andreas, Mia and Adam – great ef-

fort, much improved, but still lots to work on…see

    you all at training!

    Match Reports Round 4

    U10/1 vs Winston Hills

We arrived at the field today to find it cold and rainy. The boys warmed up well to face Winston Hills. We started well with some good passing and move-ment, Cameron again playing well up front. But after a short while Winston Hills were putting the pressure back on us. Some scrambling defence by Kal and Luke, with Cooper in the middle and another load of great saves from Jeremy kept Winsto out. We started to get on the attack again with Jackson, Matty and Hojean on the flanks and we scored a nicely worked goal by Ethan. Winston Hills started to play very physical which led to them scoring, but they started to play too hard and we started to receive a few free kicks, two of which Ethan slotted home to give us the 3-1 win. We started to dominate possession from there with Richie attacking up front and Rory doing a lot of great work in the middle and as centre back for a spell and were a chance of getting a few more goals, but not to be. The boys are improving week to week and after a slow start to the year look well suited as the Division one side we all know they are. Well played boys

    U10/7 vs Norwest

The most fun match to date. Very early in the match we conceded three goals but after that our players pulled together. Jerry and Sudish tried hard in offence and got close to scoring, thanks to JJ, Joel and Bianca who battled hard in midfield to supply the ball. At one point even Rhys managed to get around the defence and got tan-talisingly close. In the second half Arsh and Aksharan started to com-municate better. This resulted in some great passing between them and created more opportunities for shots on goal. Lojana was also zipping around the field with endless energy, moving from one end of the field to the other in the blink of an eye. Dylan excelled in defence. Chasing down every ball that went the wrong way and assisting Tyler. In fact, Tyler defended the goal so well we didn't concede any goals in the second half. Although we remained scoreless, both teams had fun and left smiling. They chanted 'Norwest is the Best' and we replied with 'But Pendle Hill is in there Still!' It's great to see that our players never gave up, even though they also had to contend with a would be, not so secret, Ninja on the other team!

    Match Reports Round 4

    U11/5 vs

Tarun made a triumphant return this week after being

on holiday overseas. His energy and strong running

with the ball were desperately needed as we faced

some tough opposition this week. Tarun started well

with his trademark charge up the centre of the field,

but Castle Hill RSL had their defences sorted and it

wasn’t long before they tested Athavan out as keeper.

They took a powerful shot from their left side but

    Athavan made an awesome save!

That led to David making a great break, he got the ball

to Mahak who had a shot only for their keeper to just

deflect it wide. The game then repeated itself as Atha-

van made another great save and Mahak had another

shot that was just saved! Faraz lined up the corner

and took a superb kick but Castle Hill RSL cleared it

    out.

They made a quick break, but Drashy was quicker as

he charged up to them and won the ball. Soon after

Dylan then stormed onto a loose ball, with great con-

trol he timed a perfect pass through their defence.

Tanya made an awesome run up the right side as we

exerted some pressure, but they kept blocking us out.

We then had a goal scored against us as their pres-

sure was rewarded. They kept it up but first Drashy

showed excellent defence again before Tanya chased

hard to stop another attacking raid. Thomas was then

kept busy as they kept the attacks coming down his

side but he showed determination getting in their

face with his defence again and again.

However the raids continued and we went to the

break down 0-2! Our players heads were down, but

not for long as we reminded them that they were

down the same amount last week and came back to

    draw the game!

Heads were back up and they took the field for the

second half. True to form, we were in the game in the

second half as their determination saw the game

even out. Cam made some inspiring runs through the

centre, Athavan had a great shot at goal and Faraz

made a couple of super saves as keeper!

Lachlan made a great timing decision to come in and

thwart an attack, before a break was made by David

with Mahak finishing it off with a great goal! Unfortu-

nately we couldn’t get a second one, but we held

them scoreless for the second half which was a great

feat since they were a good attacking team.

    14/1 vs Kellyville 5-1 Win

Our best first half of the season with some beautiful

passing and possession play and it led to some good

team goals. Kellyville had no answers and didn't cre-

ate anything as our defence was too strong. 4-0 up at

the break and it was well deserved.

Second half and we slowed down a bit, we were

never going to lose the game but our intensity

dropped and even though the Coach made some

changes to save some legs for tomorrow that is no

excuse for not playing hard and giving it your best.

We will let that second half slide though this week

boys as your first half was a super effort, we just need

to make sure we keep playing for the full game from

    here on in.

    Match Reports Round 4

    16/1 vs Toongabbie 4-0 Win

Typical soccer conditions were upon the boys on Sat-urday with a chilling wind and overcast clouds dawn-ing down as the 16/1 Boys entered the field. It was a reverse game by our team, instead of starting off slow and playing the oppositions game in the first half & improving on the second they came out fired up from the get go delivering 2 goals in the first five min-utes. A cross delivered by Tim into the corner of the nets and straight after Joel took a strike making it 2-0 before half time. Jared became a playmaker on the day producing 2 assists in the second half aiding both Keegan and Tim in a goal each .Petar did a terrific job chasing and shutting down any opportunity Toongabbie thought they had and Daniel also turning it up a notch produc-ing the same and taking some shots at goal. Our Goal Keeper Jake had to stretch his arms once for a possi-ble shot at him that went over the posts but nothing to threatening. Although it was a 4-0 Win to us the boys showed signs of falling into old habits in the second half play-ing the other teams game and backing off the pace, something we can’t afford to do when playing against the tougher teams. Points awarded this week were Tim (3),Petar (2) and

    Daniel (1)

    Football NSW State Cup

16/1 vs Quakers Hill 8-0 Win

Our 16/1 Boys backed up on Sunday with the first round of the State Cup against Quakers Hill Jnrs held on a field that more resembled a paddock. The condi-tions weren’t the best either with gusty winds com-bined with the playing surface we weren’t expecting a smooth game however this didn’t discourage Pendle Hill 16/1’s at all. As the boys dominated the opposi-tions half from the whistle it wasn’t long before our first corner was awarded with Jared using the wind to his advantage, beautifully executing the kick to drift in the oppositions far post putting first points on the board. From here the goals kept on coming, .Jared repeating this on yet another occasion leaving Quakers Hill goal keeper in disbelief. Dominance over the ball shown by Michael was evident, Joel surprised himself with a header and so did Tim both taking a goal each. Glenn stepped up and took not only one goal from Quakers Hill but a cracker launched from his boot later in the second half. Daniel bulldozed himself over players to pocket a goal along with Jared taking his hat trick from an assist from Alex. Arbin was excellent through the midfield as was James . With an 8-0 win Jake was nearly in need of a jumper to keep himself warm from lack of work. Overall the team really showed their full potential and it will be interesting to see how they progress in this tourna-ment.

    Match Reports Round 4

    16/2 vs Kellyville 4-2 Win

This was never going to be easy when we knew going

in that we had just the bare 11, but losing out keeper

an hour before kick-off really looked to complicate

matters. However, in strong winds at a sunny but cold

Bernie Mullane, the boys played a gutsy and tactically

smart game, to come away with the three points.

First half was back and forth on the field and on the

scoreboard. Pressure on the keeper saw the keeper

dropped a cross onto Tim's chest who walked the ball

into the goal. Kellyville responded with some of de-

fenders not picking up their opponents from a cross

which was nicely finished. Our corner and cross duo

of Tim and Aidan saw the ball find its way across on

the second attempt from a corner into Aidan who put

away our second. Kellyville then caught us on the

break, with stand-in keeper Nick saving a one on one

but the rebound fell to the strikers advantage and

made it 2-2 at half time.

The second half was all heart from the boys as they

ran to exhaustion keeping pace with the opposition

and keeping pressure on in the middle of the park. It

was late on that Cory toe poked home a pass from

Sahil and then for his second hooked a speculator

around the corner from 25 metres out to see the ball

drop into the net. Our defence then held out some

Nick took the gloves and made some smart saves in-

cluding tipping over the cross bar a long range strike

as well as playing a sweeping role to take some of the

pressure off the defence. We played just a three man

defence with Josh, Aidan and Mohey all putting in

some timely challenges. Tim and Kartik slowed things

down in the middle of the park keeping us in the

match whilst Suren, Will and Sahil provided the spark

out wide. Cory is proving a great contributor up front

whilst also tracking back to defend late in the game as

    the boys held on.

Be proud boys. This was a great team effort. We have a small squad but you proved today you have big hearts.

16/3 vs Guildford McCredie 0-0 Draw

Playing short – with 10 players this time – meant that we always looked stretched in both attack and de-fence. It was a very tight contest and the result could have easily gone either way. The boys put in the effort but lacked the precision needed to put the icing on the cake. One player who delivered great passes was Cameron Ak – he gets bet-ter each week. Ryan shrugged off holiday mode with some whole-hearted and determined challenges to win the ball. Josh Ak played with more energy. Colin constructed some weaving runs but just needed to release the final pass a bit earlier. Josh Ab was solid as usual in goals. No-one could fault the work rate of Cameron E & Sam & Lavan at the back. Steve & Parth were also really busy in the forwards. It didn’t really happen for us today. Too often we relied on the miracle long ball instead of a slower build up. We need to work on our first touches and general ball control. Keep working hard boys and the results will come.

16/3 vs Winston Hills 8-1 Win

On paper this game was always going to be a mis-match with Winston Hills taking a flogging early in the season. They only had 9 players and after 15 minutes we already had a few goals on the board, so coach Tom trimmed us back to 10 players to make it a closer contest. It was an opportunity to experiment with our line up, mainly with good results. Josh Ab looked like a mil-lion dollar striker with 3 clinical finishes to secure a glorious hat-trick. But the glory needs to be shared with Parth & Colin for setting up the goals. Parth himself got a double and always looked likely to score when he steamed onto the ball. Steve also got a dou-ble, one of which looked like a cannon ball to the top corner of the net. It was a good hit out for the boys and an opportunity to work on our passing game. Sadly we kept looking for the miracle long shot, rather than patiently work-ing our way into the box before releasing a convincing shot at goals. Bigger tests are around the corner boys.

18/1 Blk vs Ermington 4-4 Draw

This is a game that showed just how much potential we have as a team, but at the same time how poorly things can go when communication deteriorates. The first half saw us outplay our opposition in both attack and defence. Tiny was rewarded for his efforts both attacking down the wing and strong support in the middle with the first goal of the match. Adam fol-lowed up with a run and was able to quickly ex-tend our lead. David was able to make the most out of a penalty shot and score a goal after Lauren was taken out (or maybe she just took a dive). We were unable to keep the pressure up and the opposition went to half time with points on the board. When we took the field for the second half, it was

almost as if a different team was playing. Communi-

cation failed and players soon found themselves out

of their respective positions. The opposition clearly

took advantage of this and by the end of the game we

found ourselves at a draw, which is disappointing

when it was clearly a game we could of won.

The one highlight of the half was when Josh was able

to score off a strong play at the ball by Eric. A desper-

ate attempt by Andrew and Jesse at the dying stages

of the game weren’t quite enough to secure the win.

U18/1 Blk vs Rydalmere 1-4 Loss

This week we were met with a quality opposition; one which were able to skilfully move action around the field and set up plays that were ultimately successful in scoring points. That being said, there are still positives to take out of the game. We started the game well and dominated the attack for the first 15 minutes. The team tried a few new plays and were unfortunate enough for them not to pay off. Unfortunately a breakdown in communication from us resulted in a quick succession of goals scored by the opposing team. We started the second half with our heads held high and we remained competitive for the rest of the match,

with a super long range shot from David winning us the half 1-0. At the end of the day, we played a good game

with everyone putting in 100%. Special mention goes to Matt and the backs, who were able to diffuse a num-

ber of attacking raids and made some great saves. It was a good opportunity to see what we need to work on

to be able to compete with the better teams of the competition, and there has been a definite improvement in

our side and I’m sure we will be able to come away with a better result next time.

O45/1 vs Kellyville Blk 0-4 Loss

Today we ventured out, on a cold and windy day, to Bernie Mullane at Kellyville for our game against Kel-lyville Black. We welcome back to playing duties ex Blacktown City legend, John Larkin who has been sorely missed the last few years. The Marquee was having problems as at times he was in another space dreaming of when he could actually contribute more and playing on flat even pitches with several thousand spectators watching – a totally dif-ferent atmosphere than what we were playing under today. So he stopped dreaming and woke up to the fact that his broken and old body can’t do what it used to do and got down to the task at hand. Making sure that the water bottles were filled, ball pumped up correctly, team sheet completed, shirts handed out – all the things he can do without stuffing up. The Governor won the toss again and Kellyville kicked off. That’s three in a row for the Governor must be a record? We started slow and upon receiving the ball the Governor was true to form and immediately passed it back to the opposition in a friendly gesture he has become renowned for. We had much of the early play but balls weren’t going to feet and there was too much long ball stuff going on. We couldn’t string more than one pass together which was frus-trating the hell out of the Marquee sitting on the bench. Some of the football was woeful with most shots going wide or straight at their keeper. We are asleep at times on the left side and they are getting too much ball. We are under pressure at the back. Some slack marking and out wide one of their mid-fielders gets the ball. He is allowed space to run and hits a straight off the foot goal bound shot which goes cleaning into the far top corner of our goal with nothing the Mullet could do about it.

1-0 to Kellyville Black and with it all to play for; we needed to concentrate and give more effort but the cold and wind played their part. Their dirty number 11 decided that Taxi needed a kicking which wasn’t nice. A nice shot from the Hobo was on target but it was cleared off the line. It was obvious that we had no luck with us today. Several more passes to the opposition and then the Spiderman decided that their cheeky fast striker was-n’t getting past him so, with no option but to bring him down, he pulled him down to give away a penalty kick. This was duly converted and we were now 2-0 down. The King goes for a run and gets a great pass from Taxi. He has a powerful on target shot which their keeper somehow gets his finger tips to and pushes it over the cross bar. No luck yet again and this is turn-ing into the norm for the game. However, as they say you make your own luck and we were never going to do that today. The Maestro with his mid-field partner in crime, Toey, are playing very well but things are not just happen-ing. As always they are doing their upmost to lift the game. The Maestro has a shot from distance but this isn’t going to work as we need to get closer to the target. Taxi is using his excellent football vision set-ting up some precision passes but things are not go-ing our way. A frustrated Marquee feels changes are need in both a plan and fresh legs. The Doc is intro-duced and immediately his speed and terrier like man marking have an effect as he confuses the opposition and himself with his ball skills. Nobody knows what he is going to do next and he is working his butt off to try and instil some extra effort from his team mates. With more passes to the opposition Toey finally gets a reasonable ball and has a shot but their keeper saves it. Time for Sparkles to weave his magic as he comes on for his first game with the Mighty 45’s for a couple of seasons. Empty is off (well he has always been off) and is replaced by the Mighty Sparkles. Im-mediately he has some great touches and lays off some good passes which unfortunately his team mates give away all too frequently.

Slack marking at the back as their striker beats the offside trap and is through for a one on one with the Mullet. He slots it home and they are now 3-0 up. It is just not our day at all. Turn tries to jump 2.5 metres high for a great King cross but even the mighty Celtic Highlander can’t reach it with the wind holding him down! Taxi does a foul throw-in to a beaming smile from the Fine mas-ter, Perry. We have had little or no defence on the left side of the park with players in the left back posi-tion leaving their man and wandering in field. To be fair with Carbon late due to coaching commitments and Molly ay stopper we have no other full back op-tions. Sparkles comes to life and has a great attempt on goal with a great shot which their keeper fumbles and then regains. Half time comes and we have it all to do. With the score at 3-0 we need a miracle. It is time for some fluid intake and a team talk to see what changes we can make in our game plan. The Governor is not backward with his comments saying that what we doing is crap. Perhaps a little harsh but we are not playing well. There is little talking and not everyone is doing their job. We seem to be playing as individuals rather than as a team. The Second half starts with our kick off and nothing really changes; we are playing to the level of who knows what? We need to lift it up a cog! All too of-ten we are ball watching and this leads to a player almost getting through as the reliable Mullet saves us. They are using our non-working tactics of shoot-ing from distance with the same result. We are not finding our man. Toey and the Maestro are working their butts off providing through balls but it is not happening for us.

Turn is trying hard up front; Empty is wandering around and getting knocked over by players twice his size; Hobo is running his guts out, the Doc is causing them problems with his terrier like tactics and the mid field generals of Toey and the Maestro are trying hard with Taxi and the King making great runs. Once Sparkles gets back into the game mode from his long lay-off we will surely witness that something extra that he provides up front or just behind the strikers; the deft touches, the little flicks, step overs and curv-ing shots. The defence is trying hard but nothing seems to be working for long enough although we are defending better in the second half. The Governor, Molly, Perry and Carbon (now arrived and introduced to his right-ful place) are working together to keep them at bay. Unfortunately Perry has a mind freeze and promptly decides to pass the ball over the side line to an imagi-nary team mate chatting on the hill. They get an-other goal off a lucky hit off the goal post goes in and it is 4-0 to Kellyville Black. The Maestro goes on another good run and passes to Toey who unfortunately steps on the ball and it comes to nothing. Both the mid-field generals are stand outs in doing their best to set up play. The Gov-ernor, Perry, Carbon and Molly doing a stout defend-ing role and the odd flash of brilliance from the Hobo, Taxi, King, Doc, Empty and the Spiderman but still we are not keeping our shape, using the width of the field or putting together enough passes. We are try-ing hard but to no avail. We are not giving up but there are too many passes to the opposition and little or no talking. No luck and nothing is working. The ever reliable Maestro has a shot but it goes wide. The Mullet makes a great reflex save from a powerful header which hits in straight between the eyes and he is then hit by the attacker who can’t stop. The Mullet is not really sure where he is as he lies mo-tionless on the ground to the concern of his team mates. The Marquee asks Perry to get ready to re-place him if he can’t continue. With some magic wa-ter a grogging Mullet gets up and bravely decides to continue.

The King gets brought down in a reckless manner and their player is correctly cautioned for his efforts of deliberately bringing him down. The King was run-ning well and deserved better than what he got. It is time for some drastic action with Empty coming off and the Marquee on for the last 11 minutes. The Marquee runs hard but a strange thing happens be-cause it is as if he is in another world – again his mind goes back to another place and another time where his bones hadn’t been broken and he had some speed. In his mind he is playing well; the mind is cor-rectly telling him what needs to be done and where to go however, the body is reacting differently and just can’t achieve the objective. They put a ball over and the Marquee jumps to head it away but he misses by a mile and it sails over to their right half who hits it wide. The Fine master, Perry, is mentally recording this incident as an air swing and more money for the coffers as he watches from the techni-cal area. Unfortunately the previously broken legs of the Marquee don’t jump well anymore so I think he should have been given an exemption. The Marquee in his first on field playing role this sea-son, has been found wanting with his overweight frame not capable of doing the job. The mind knows but the in spite of the constant yelling from the Gov-ernor ringing in his ears. He worked well with Carbon on the left and managed to play the last ten minutes without actually ever touching the ball. A disappoint-ing run for the Marquee player of the Mighty 45’s who, perhaps, should forget this playing lark and gracefully fade away? Nothing went right today; passes astray, too many long balls, not using the width of the field, limited communication, ball watching, leaving too many gaps and players unmarked. If we played like we did against Castle Hill United we would beat ever other team in the competition.

We need to do that more and play at that higher level if we are to cause other teams problems. The Mar-quee is old enough now but he aged considerable watching this game. He feels he needs to do that something extra to support his comrades and just wishes he could because today was gut wrenching for him. Man of the match was Toey. His mid-field combina-tion with the Maestro and Taxi is pretty to watch as they read the game so well. There was not much to pick between him and Taxi this week so coming in a close second is Taxi and for some solid defending in third place is the Governor who never gave up all day. It was a toss-up between the Spiderman and the Doc for the “Stuff-Up Shirt” with Spider being given the nod for his outstanding stuff up plays which included giving away a penalty in the first half. Thanks to our lone supporter, Carol, who braved the cold and windy conditions to support her partner in crime Molly and the Mighty 45’s. Play like you did against Castle Hill and you will beat anybody; so con-centration for 80 minutes is the name of the game for the rest of the season. The Mighty 45’s can come back so let’s do it. Next week’s game is against Baulkham Hills (Round 5) at the Theatre of Dreams (Binalong Field 3) Bernie with the kick off at 3.00 pm. Perry has gone walk about and is off to the USA for a couple of weeks with Kelli for a well-earned rest and gambling at Las Vegas. Hopefully with a strong training run on Wednesday the team will improve. Picking a full back to replace Perry will not be easy and I don’t see any volunteers putting their hands up.

    10 Girls

A great game had by all. Considering our last round was a BYE and this round we had no subs, all girls gave their all out there on the field. There were some great plays out there and great saves at goals. Our Player Of the Match for round 4 going to Eva scoring most of the winning goals. A job well done girls.

    U9 Girls

Now that we have had some training sessions, the U9 Girls returned to some form with a convincing win over Kellyville WHT, 4 – 2. Congratulations girls. There were some great individual efforts; Gemma scoring her first goal of the season, and playing out of her usual position as full back, in forward well out of her comfort zone, great effort. Piper scored our second goal of the game, which brought us level with Kellyville, being 2 all. Unstoppable Abbey, scored a great individual goal, breaking the dead lock. Kristina with a whole field run to pot our last goal, to make it 4 – 2, another great individual effort. Our backs (Audrey, Cosette, Olivia K) worked well, back still needing some improvement, nothing we can’t fix at training. Thanks to our goal keepers, Mia in the first half and Chloe in the second. And to Olivia M great effort – keep trying for the back of the net… I’d like to take this opportunity to welcome Olivia K to the team, as she has been overseas on holidays, and this was her first game of the season. A Special Get Well Soon to Stephanie, who had her Tonsils out on Wednesday last week and is recover-ing…Hope you are feeling better and can join us again soon, keep your chin up, the team is thinking about you! Overall great game all, keep up the good work, see you all at training. Before I go…one last thing, Cosette – the glasses look great – glad to see, you can see the ball now…just kidding keep up the good work! Anthony (Coach)

    Kookies Corner

    A League Grand Final !!

Can I tell you, I hate Brisbane, I hate Queensland and I hate everything to do with those

swarmy, bogan natives that tend to win at every sport we go up against them in. And they

cant be gracious can they? the worst winners on the planet, they are one eyed (often one

toothed) and they talk about the land they live in like it is God’s country, and in all fairness

its not far off it, beautiful beaches, perfect one day beautiful the next and great views, it

would be a great place if it wasn't for some many bloody Queenslanders!

The 2014 A League Grand Final was no different and just as predictable as a late try or late drop goal in the

State of Origin, for 85 minutes the Wanderers looked the better side in the Grand Final, went one nil up and

just as you think its all over, Bang, there goes the equaliser and in extra time Bang, there goes the winner.

Brisbane Roar become the first team in the A League to win 3 Grand Finals and WSW become the first team

in history to lose two GF’s in a row, I guess the consolation is they have only been around for 2 years and are

performing well above what I expected from my new Club. But there you go again, bloody Queenslanders.

The only thing worse than Queenslanders are Queensland supporters who were born and bred in NSW, geez

don't they drive me up the wall, they will always give you a reason as to why they support Queensland, none

of those reasons are valid mind you. The only people who annoy me more than Queenslanders are pretend

Queenslanders, no matter where you go, there’s always seems to be at least one.

    So today I dedicate this to the ‘real Queensland’, the one we never hear about;

your number plates say ‘The smart State’ but you don't know what the word irony means.

you think the difference between a flat white and a latte is one comes in a mug and one doesn't.

you’re not sure if your racist or not as you haven't yet met anyone from outside of Australia.

you think Baywatch is a reality TV show.

you consider the idea of riding on a train an adventure.

the only culture in the whole of Queensland comes in containers labelled yoghurt.

you have moved furniture using a boat.

you still have your Expo 88 special pass.

a special occasion means a trip to the Coffee Club to get a special coffee.

you call the Gold Coast - Goldie, and you swim in togs, not costumes.

entertainment is chasing cane toads with salt contain-

    ers or golf clubs.

everyone from Queensland shortly after birth gets an

O or Y at the end of their name and there you have it -

    a nickname.

you whip out a jumper when it gets below 25 degrees.

    shoes - optional extra.

So there it is, those damn win everything Queenslanders,

well done to Roar and to the Queenslanders that I do like,

both of you, no offence intended.

That’s the way the Kookie crumbles......
